I got home very early this morning and now I can do a recap since I'm not socializing/exhausted haha. I wasn't sure how much time mom and I would spend with Aunt Cindy and Uncle Dean since their friends (Pam and Ken) were visiting too, but we actually spent a lot of our time with them! They were super nice and didn't at all object to having to share Cindy and Dean with us haha. One of the days Pam and I added each other on Facebook and she fistbumped me and said "we're friends now!" Heck yes! Haha. We spent a lot of time shopping downtown (with me admiring all the shops' curtains LOL). There were LOTS of tourists around..for some reason most of the time it was super windy, but otherwise it was sunny and nice. Downtown is dangerous because there are too many things to buy haha. I kept wondering why I was so out of breath doing simple things, until someone said something about the altitude (7,199 feet)..ah yes, that explained it haha. It's also SUPER dry, even drier than Fairbanks! Drinking water didn't help much, but lip balm did, thankfully. We also went to a couple bookstores (one with thousands of books in Spanish..the most in the country, according to the owner), but unfortunately, the one I usually went to was not in business anymore..the last time I was there the owner talked about how much he wanted to retire, so he did (another bookstore owner said he moved to California). It was a cool bookstore though..I wonder what he did with all his books? The library had a little store, with amazingly had a copy of The Worst Journey in the World, which I made Cindy buy LOL..she was like "every time you visit, I end up with a stack of books!" haha. I hope she likes it!

On Thursday I was excited but nervous to see Drew Lynch! Another comedian opened for him, and she owned horses, and said her pronouns were neigh/nem, with I thought was HILARIOUS lol. Eventually it was Drew's turn! He always opens his shows by making fun of or making observations about where he's performing. He mentioned being blown away but the crazy wind, blaming the altitude for stuttering, making fun of the town Truth or Consequences, and also having to use lip balm. There was also someone who was deaf in the audience, so there were a couple ASL interpreters to help him. When Drew came onstage and saw her he was like "oh no, I have to try not to stutter, would that look like a seizure in ASL??" That added part made the show even funnier..I can't remember the deaf person's name, so I'll go with Gary..he and the interpreters had a lot of attention from Drew (both of the interpreters were having fun lol). My favorite part of the show was when Drew stuttered, looked at the interpreter, and said "did you just sign my stutter?!" That's a huge reason I like him so much, he uses humor for his situation (like I do with autism). He's not just another guy trying to be funny..I feel like he would feel vulnerable, but he doesn't seem fazed. I also like how good he is at ad-libbing, like when he saw the interpreters. He has a fun laugh, though the volume was too loud. Mom said she had trouble following him sometimes, because he would start to say something and stop and change what he was going to say, but I'm sure that's because his stutter wouldn't let him say it..that would be frustrating, but he says something like "oh you know!," and continues on. I didn't understand or like ALL of his jokes, but it was still really fun! (I was super exhausted after it was over, too much stimulation!) He likes to post funny parts of his shows on YouTube, and I can't wait to see what he posts from this show! (Hopefully his interactions with the interpreters!) I'll have to share it if he does post it. At the end of the show, he said "you guys were f-ing awesome!" Why thank you. :P Haha. I'm glad he had fun too!

I flew home yesterday, but mom went on to Florida to visit grandpa (he's having cancer treatments and sometimes doesn't feel well). I HAVE to go back to work tomorrow, so I told mom to tell him I said "hi." It was nice to get away for a few days after working so hard during the move! I'm sure there's lots to do still though. :P I'm pretty sure Curti grew while I was gone, he's getting so big!!

17. What makes you angry? Animal abuse, slow internet, being mean for no reason, etc

18. What five things do you want to do on your next birthday? I'd love to take a plane ride to Black Rapids Glacier (there is a company that does that now!), eat cake, open presents, shop at Barnes and Noble haha, relax online

19. Your most recent dream: I can't really remember..

I am home! It's always kinda depressing and surreal coming home after a fun vacation. We did see Denali though, yay! As we were driving by I Googled Ruth Glacier (why not lol. How did my phone get service in the mountains??), and was surprised when I read that the famous explorer Frederick Cook named it after one of his daughters! I'm sure I read that before when reading about Ruth Glacier, but it hadn't meant anything to me. I don't know a lot about Cook because I don't care for him and the whole "who made it to the North Pole first?" controversy between him and Peary..I hadn't known he explored around Denali!

I don't think I'll be able to identify all the glaciers in my pictures, but I'll try. The forest ranger guide told everyone more than once how lucky we were to have such nice weather (it rains a LOT down there), and that we'd get to see absolutely EVERYTHING. Thrilling words!! I probably took too many pics, but it's hard not to :P

lots of glaciers :P )

I hope I'm not too tired at work tomorrow :P

22. What Was Your Favourite Fairy Tale or Nursery Rhyme? Hmmm..I'm not sure actually. Maybe "Rock a Bye Baby"? (Why on earth is a baby in a treetop though?? And why are we singing about babies falling out of trees?? So messed up LOL)

1. What inconveniences do you experience every single day? Being short haha, not wanting to get up because I'm comfy, etc
2. What do you wish you weren’t so often in close proximity to? The smell of weed..gross lol
3. This past week, what would you have appreciated some advance warning about? Abby had bloodwork done recently, and today I found out she's in stage one kidney failure. :( I guess with the food she's been eating nitrogen builds up, which can damage the kidneys. The vet gave me some food especially formulated for kidney health, which hopefully she likes. I'm glad it was caught before it got worse, but I'm still anxious about it (I hope it's not uncomfortable for her!). She's almost 19, wow! I'm definitely not taking my time with her for granted now, every moment is special <3
4. What caused you to smile happily today? Petting the vet's cat Glitter, and Glitter licking the bag with the food in it haha
5. When did you recently give in to a sudden impulse? Maybe when I had food from Sonic a couple days ago..

Brrr, it's -25 outside..Denali and the Alaska Range looked cool in the sunset though

On Monday, we said bye to grandma and then Cindy and Dean drove mom and I to a hotel near Kansas City Airport (they left the next day to go back to Santa Fe)..much faster without fog slowing us down haha, and I saw the Missouri River for the first time! (That I can remember, anyway. :P) It's the longest river in North America! At the hotel, we put our stuff in the room and then went to dinner..there was a very unhappy looking flight attendant there, and she and one of the waitresses was talking about something to her. It must have been busy before we got there, because the waitress was frazzled and tired. Our food was slow to come out, but it's not like we were going anywhere, and we were like "it's fine!" when the waitress apologized. After we ate, the waitress said something like "how about dessert? It's on me, because you guys have been a breath of fresh air in this whirlwind of madness! You were the nicest table tonight!" Dessert for being kind?? Yes please! Haha. I asked what desserts they said, and what she said sounded like "New York salad cheesecake." I didn't know what a salad cheesecake was, but I was like "ok, I'll try the salad cheesecake." The waitress was like "uhh...uh...do you mean the New York STYLE cheesecake??" HAHA OMG we all DIED laughing! When she brought it I should have said "that's a weird looking salad!" haha. I'm glad we were able to make her night better lol. At one point in the elevator, the person we were in there with told mom and I that we looked like twins..wow haha

Yesterday we flew first to Seattle, and I worked my Weather Magic again, because it was sunny at the airport, but there were clouds all around it! How do I keep doing that?? Haha. Then we flew to Anchorage..on my side there was mostly just ocean and clouds, but it cleared up near Anchorage, and saw some familiar glaciers (Harvard, Columbia, Meares, etc). It was SO pretty!! On the flight to Fairbanks I saw Denali again, but the window was in a weird place, the sun was right there, and the wing was in the way, so I only got one picture (not that I NEED more pics of Denali, but I can't help it :P). As we got to Fairbanks, I saw that the Tanana River was frozen, but the Chena was open! I'm glad we got back relatively early (around 9:20-9:30), since I had to work today (they were happy to see me lol). I laid down in my bed and was like "ahhh, soft" LOL

pics from the flights! )

25. If you were given the ability to reform how your country’s leaders were chosen and how they serve, what would you change? Uhhh..I'm not political enough to answer this :P

26. Records, tapes, CDs, MP3s, streaming: which did you grow up with? What is good and bad about each? Tapes (they can be nostalgic, though it was annoying having to rewind them) and CDs (nice having a physical copy, but annoying when they get scratched) when I was a kid

27. If everyone said what they were actually thinking, what would happen to society? Chaos?? Haha

I talk about my experiences with autism! I definitely didn't cover *everything* (the video was long enough haha), but hopefully enough to get an idea! (I uploaded it straight to Facebook, and when I saw it was done but nothing showed up, I was like "whaat?? Why didn't it p-p-po-po-post??! Was it too big??" But a few minutes later I checked again and it was there..phew! Haha). Mom has said multiple times I should write a book, but a video seemed easier to me lol

Ryan flew to Anchorage a couple days ago, and when he got back yesterday, he was like "you would have been so jealous!" and showed me a video he took flying RIGHT by Denali! He said it was uncomfortably close! I've heard stories from many different people of pilots flying around the mountain on nice days, but not with me yet! Though to be fair, I've done at least 3 or 4 flightseeing trips around Denali, but I'm STILL jealous haha. He said one of the glaciers was huge..I bet it was epic :D

last of the 9th grade journal! notice how after feb. 6, i didn't mention scotland anymore! viggo took over instead LOL )

4. Do you have a crush on anyone that you haven’t really talked to before? Umm..I'd say Cherry, but I talked to him at his grave and he said hi to me through my phone, so I guess that doesn't count? I've had crushes on other people I'd never talk to before though

5. What is your least favorite sour patch kids color? Red I think

6. Have you ever won a competition? If so, what was it and what did you win? I think so, I can't really remember though

Hello from California! Yesterday our flight to Anchorage left at 8, so we had to get up at 5 something..ugh. At least we were rewarded with awesome views of Denali, Mt. Foraker and some glaciers! All three of our flights were under three hours because of an awesome tailwind! I watched How to Train Your Dragon (HOW had I never watched it till now?! That movie is amazing! Toothless the dragon reminded me of a cat LOL) and a lot of How to Train Your Dragon 2 (must finish it on the flight back!!). I saw some cool mountains and glaciers flying out of Anchorage, but then on my side it got cloudy! I looked over at the other side and it looked clear for miles! When the clouds did clear, my side was just ocean..it's a good thing I've seen the glaciers on that side before, but I'm always sad to miss them anyway. :P We flew in to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, which I hadn't been to in YEARS. Everything looked so green flying in!! That always amazes me after a long Alaska winter lol. We got our rental car and drove to the hotel in Costa Mesa, which is pretty close to the airport. It was nice to relax, I was SO tired lol..getting up so early makes me feel awful the whole day :P

Today we had breakfast and geocached our way to nearby Newport Beach lol (really stressful when you're not used to lots of traffic and don't know the area!). I think we found 5 or 6. I don't remember ever going to Newport Beach before (as a kid I mostly went to Redondo or Hermosa). It was pretty nice. We got some yummy food (I'm pretty sure California is more expensive than Alaska, wow D:) and walked on the piers and fed some pigeons..poor things must have a rough life, some of them had deformed feet and one had fishing wire wrapped around its feet and maybe part of its wing..OMG so sad. :( :( :( I tried catching it, but it was still too fast for me. :( That probably happens often, sadly, judging by their feet. Poor things. :( After that we relaxed at the hotel and then Aunt Susan met us for dinner..weirdly, she works at Newport Beach! (She lives near Torrance, 37 miles away.) It was nice to see her again! We ate at a Mexican restaurant, where they make guacamole right in front of you! I don't usually like guacamole, but this looked too yummy not to try. It was indeed really good! Fairbanks guacamole is sad LOL. We talked for a couple hours about dad's health and stuff, and then Susan drove us back to the hotel. Nice seeing her again!

Tomorrow is Scott's game, woohoo! I hope they do well lol

Yesterday mom and I flew to Glacier Bay..first we had to fly to Anchorage. Denali was out, but the engine was in the exact viewing point as the mountain..good thing I've seen it many times lol (I saw one of its glaciers through the clouds, possibly Eldridge). After that short flight we flew to Juneau..I saw some cool glaciers before it clouded up..I'm pretty sure one of them was Harvard Glacier! It has super awesome moraines. :D It usually takes an hour and some minutes to fly to Juneau from Anchorage, but the bad weather made the traffic back up, so we had to divert to Sitka to get more fuel. I'd never seen Sitka before, so that was cool lol. Eventually we took off and got to Juneau just fine..I'd never been to the airport in Juneau (dad and I stopped there on the ferry through the Inside Passage a few years ago), so that was cool to see too (we saw an eagle!). After a little time to kill there, we boarded the plane for Gustavus/Glacier Bay. I looked for Mendenhall Glacier, but it was on the other side! At least I got a glimpse of it. :P If I thought the flight from Fairbanks to Anchorage was short, it has nothing on Glacier Bay..it only took like 20 minutes! Probably the shortest flight I've ever been on lol. After we landed a bus took everyone to their respective hotels. After we got our room (which has great pics of glaciers lol) we explored outside..there are baneberries EVERYWHERE, which are super poisonous. D: We stopped in the Visitor Center..I showed the Park Ranger lady my pic of Harvard Glacier and she was like "wow, this picture is amazing!! Check out the moraines, it's like moraine pie!" OMG lol..I've compared moraines to chocolate on ice cream, but never pie! Awesome. :P I love seeing others get excited over glaciers too! This Tlingit lady gave us a presentation telling of their history in Glacier Bay..they kept almost getting wiped out by natural disasters, but always managed to survive..wow. After that we had dinner and went back to our room (which doesn't have wi-fi, boo! We have to go in the main building of the lodge for it)

Yesterday when we left Denali there was lots of new snow..ugh. When we crossed to the other side of the Alaska Range it cleared up..it was sooo nice to see the sun again!! We got some good views of Mt. McKinley Denali (!!) before it clouded up. We drove around Turnagain Arm just as the bore tide was coming in! It was amusing cause we found a geocache relating to the bore tide as it was coming in. :P After we got settled in Girdwood we rode the tram up the mountain..windy, but nice views! After that we had dinner and then it was time to relax!

Today we drove to Homer. It was such a nice sunny day. We decided to take the boat to Portage Glacier since it was on the way. I forgot how big it was! The glacier has definitely retreated since I last saw it. :( I was worried I'd be cold since it was windy, but I actually felt pretty warm! The glacier didn't calve for us, but it's not really a big calving glacier like Columbia. After getting on the highway to Homer (new territory!) I finally saw the Kenai River (glacial blue and super pretty!) and Mt. Redoubt!! (One store we stopped at was selling ash from when it erupted in 2009 haha.) Homer has such pretty views..there are a bunch of glaciers on the mountains nearby. :D I was so happy to get to the B&B so I could relax..traveling is tiring lol. I hope the nice weather holds!

We made it to Wisconsin! The first flight to Anchorage left at 9 something. It seemed pretty dark, but you could see the sunset once you got above the clouds. They both looked really cool! McKinley and Foraker were the only mountains tall enough to peek over the clouds..they also looked really cool! It was funny..the pilot said we had reached our cruising altitude and then was like "in 10 minutes we'll start the descent to Anchorage." Haha!! We spend most of that flight ascending and descending. :P Mom said she sat next to a pilot she briefed when she worked for the FAA! Haha awesome. We didn't have a lot of time in Anchorage..I really wanted Chili's since it's not in Fairbanks anymore but we only had time to get fries from McDonald's. Mom was actually flying standby (I had a paid ticket but if mom couldn't go I wouldn't either). Mom wasn't sure if she'd get a seat since the flight was full, but I think she got the last one! Nicee. We tried sleeping, but it's just impossible to get comfortable. Eventually I gave up and did a crossword haha. It took 5 hours to get from Anchorage to Seattle. After we got our bags we picked up our rental car and drove the hour and a half to Ron and Teresa's house in Wisconsin. Grandpa drove up from Florida..he was the only one at the house when we arrived. Ron got off work early and arrived soon after. Right now Teresa's at work and Stephanie's at school. We're just hanging out now and looking at pics and stuff haha. Yayy. So tiredd :P

Yesterday we drove to Denali..the weather was so gorgeous! When we got on the ridge we could see McKinley in the distance..yayy! (Also Hayes, Hess and Deborah on the opposite side of the range..epic!) When we got there we got our bus tickets and boarded. I don't know what was up with our driver, but she didn't want to spend a lot of time at anything..annoying. Finally I have seen the mountain from the park!! The driver kept saying how lucky we were haha..only 30% of visitors see the mountain in the summer. The bad thing about such a nice sunny day is you don't see as much wildlife. We saw a whole bunch of caribou for some reason. We didn't see ANY moose though..wow, that's unheard of haha! There were also a couple bears in the distance eating a carcass, and mom saw another through binoculars eating a caribou. McKinley looked so epic though..I know I've flown around it and stuff, but seeing it from the park that close is just different. It just looks so HUGE..wow. It was nice seeing where the mountain should be when usually it's cloudy. I love how pretty everything looked in the sun. By the time we got to Eielson Visitor Center clouds had gathered around the mountain and you couldn't see it very well..boo! We stayed awhile there and went hiking around this little trail. There was another that went to the top of this 1,000 foot mountain..it looked very tiring. :P We took another bus back to the entrance..our driver didn't talk at all except to say how long we'd be at a rest stop and stuff..weird. After we got back we went to a couple shops (I got 30% Club pins and shirt..yayy!), had dinner (there was a drink on the menu called Sex on the Nenana..love it haha!!) and drove home. I'm glad I finally got to see Denali on a nice day!

Today mom and I went to the Denali exhibit at the museum. It was cool, but too small! Haha. I met a guy there who climbed Denali in the 70s! Way cool. He said he also climbed other mountains in the Alaska Range like Mt. Hayes. Awesomee. I have a few pics I'll post too. Then we went to the Farmer's Market! Yayy haha. That place is awesome, but dangerous..I always spend too much money there! There's a lady that sells these little cat mat things that are SO cute! I bought a couple even though we have a bunch haha. The cats are spoiled. ;) It was HOT..OMG. Last week we were in a blizzard, today it's 76 and sunny! That's CRAZY haha. There's this trailer thing there that sells Greek food and I got a gyro..it was so good! There's a Greek restaurant downtown that I've had gyros at but I never really liked their food. This place was way better! Yumm. After that we went to Barnes and Noble cause I had two coupons for 20% off. Of course I got way more than two books. :P And now we're home. Phew, tired!

Hii I am in Anchorage! On Sunday we left for Talkeetna. We wanted to get there at dinnertime since mom's friend Laurie wouldn't be available till then. It was quite warm (20 and 30s) so the road was really slushy..the car got SO dirty. We need to find a car wash haha..it feels gross touching it. :P While driving Laurie called and said she was stuck in Anchorage and would be back the next morning, but we could make ourselves at home at her house. Mom wasn't very happy with her. We got to her house, dropped stuff off, walked by the river downtown (too cloudy to see McKinley. The sunny weather hadn't caught up to us yet ;)) and had dinner. I met the mayor there! He happens to be a cat named Stubbs, who drinks water with catnip out of a wine glass (really..he is the legal mayor of Talkeetna..the residents voted him in and everything haha). The bartender must have thought I was insane squeeing over him. :P After dinner we went back to Laurie's house and watched Eight Below. It was good, except for the glaring inaccuracies (I don't know a lot about sled dogs/mushing, but I do know they NEVER take their dogs inside..it would kill their winter coat. If it was -30 in Antarctica, you would so not be wearing jeans, an unzipped coat and just a baseball cap on your head. And in the winter scenes, it was bright daylight. Umm no, there's not much light there at all in the winter, and it definitely wouldn't be bright. Oh well :P). Then we went to bed

Yesterday (Monday) we slept in, had breakfast and just waited for Laurie to come. She eventually did..but she was all grumpy and was complaining about how she needed to clean the house cause she had more company coming. Mom was like "well..we can leave later if you want" (we were gonna stay another night) and Laurie was like "yeah I'd feel better." Oook..she seems like a really flaky person. :/ Mom said she was about done with her too. She's always rubbed me the wrong way. Oh well. The weather was amazing outside..sunny and warm. McKinley was out in its epicness haha. Laurie and mom went skiing and I had lunch and browsed the shops downtown. Talkeetna is super quiet..like I was in the middle of downtown in the afternoon and it was silent! Wow haha. I saw Stubbs in the General Store..he was drinking water out of a fishbowl haha (the fish didn't seem to care..they swam right up to him :P). I got the best pic with him hehe. Mom called when they were done skiing and we went back to the house, packed and left. We were headed to Windy's (from BOW) house this time. She had been wanting us to come visit her, so she was happy to see us (she lives in Wasilla, maybe an hour to an hour and a half drive from Talkeetna). Windy is much more pleasant than Laurie. Her house is full of crafty things, knickknacks, scrapbooks, etc..fun to look at! We had a nice evening visit and went to bed

It's so gross..when I go up to the university I can see all the nasty brown pollution hanging in the valley (there's a big inversion since it's been cold for so long). When I go inside my hair smells like that stuff..eww. I feel so unhealthy living in and breathing in that stuff. There isn't really any sign of it warming up either. Ughh

We finally got our glaciers exam back..I originally got a 93.65, but with the extra credit and stuff I got a 103.3!! AWESOME haha. :D We made ice cream in lab today..it was delicious haha

Because of the inversion and the sunset, there was a pretty sweet Fata Morgana mirage over the mountains today. Mt. McKinley looked HUGE haha. I mean..it is a huge mountain haha but from Fairbanks it's smaller of course. A lot of the time it's hard to see behind a hill but you could easily see it over the hill today. So cool

here be pics! )

I'm back from Talkeetna! On Friday mom went to Laurie's house to load up the car with her stuff, Laurie came to mom's house to have breakfast, then we left. It was an uneventful drive down. Besides McKinley (which was cloudy then), I find the Parks Highway rather boring. I've driven the Richardson too many times haha..it's way more exciting. :P We got to Laurie's house, unpacked the car, hung out a little, then had dinner. We met up with another air traffic controller, his wife, a girl who played basketball with the controller, and another lady that I'm not sure what the connection was. I was rather annoyed..I was tired, hungry and it was really loud. Once I had some wine and food I was better though haha. There were cool mountaineering mementos on the walls (Talkeetna is the jump off for mountaineers flying to McKinley. I'd love to go in the summer when all the mountaineers are there!). Talkeetna is rather quaint. After dinner, we went back to Laurie's house, had more wine (we bought a bottle..Red Rock Merlot) and played Trivial Pursuit haha. Funn. After the game we went to bed

Yesterday I got up and when it was light enough started checking the webcams to see what the weather was at McKinley. It was clear over Talkeetna but I could see a thin layer of fog/clouds (depending on where the camera was) at McKinley. I was confident it would break up though. I checked later and..I was right! The clouds were breaking up and I could see the top of McKinley! I have good weather skillz I swear haha. ;) After breakfast we went over to K2 Aviation and they said once the pilot got the plane ready we could go flightseeing! Yaaay haha. While he was doing that we went over and checked out the flight service station where Laurie's gonna work (the guy from the night before was working then too). After talking with him we went back to K2 and went flightseeing! We opted for the Denali Grand Tour. :D (Don't worry, I saved up for this haha) One of the best feelings everr is taking off in a plane and seeing everything around you. THE FLIGHT WAS SO AMAZING!! Denali, Foraker, Hunter, etc were so clear and pretty!! Even the pilots were amazed. I could see in the distance it was cloudy over Anchorage and I heard it was snowing in Fairbanks. WOW haha. A good weather hole, just for me. ;) We got SUPER close to Foraker and other mountains..so amazing to see the detail!! Seeing all sides of McKinley was pretty awesome too. All the glaciers were awesome too..so cool seeing icefalls, crevasses, moraines. *drools* The mountains looked like ice cream haha. I took over 100 pics up there!! It was just amazing. <3 Laurie met up with us after we landed and had lunch and dessert at two different places haha. Ouch..I ate horribly yesterday. :P That just happens when you travel though. We also checked out the Talkeetna River (which had an AMAZING view of McKinley and co.), went to a gift shop, went back to Laurie's house and showed her our pics, then left to go back home. It was like 4:15 when we left! Oops haha. There was a nice mountain sunset though. The WORST part of the drive is after Nenana you just wind and wind through hills and you're so close to home BUT THE HILLS NEVER ENDDD haha. But we made it back to mom's house, unpacked the car and went to bed haha. Pics tomorrow or whenever I get them all uploaded :P

Today in class we were looking at pics of earthquake damage in Alaska..the professor showed this one pic and was like "I'm not sure if this is Seward or Valdez..does anyone know?" and I immediately said "Valdez!" I recognized Anderson Glacier in the mountains. ;) Haha. I HAVE SKILLZ. The mountains looked quite lovely too..I even saw McKinley peeking over the hills

WOW..that's AWESOME their pilot flew by right by McKinley for them! I've heard of Alaska Airlines pilots doing that for other people (like Nina and Paulette) but never with me haha. I know I've flown around McKinley before, but never just randomly like that. Must be a very special occurrence haha. I think I'd die if they did that when I was on the plane :P

Today's trivia: Magnetars are characterized by their extremely powerful magnetic fields. These magnetic fields are hundreds of millions of times stronger than any man-made magnet, and quadrillions of times more powerful than the field surrounding Earth. The magnetic field of a magnetar would be lethal even at a distance of 1000 km, tearing tissues due to the diamagnetism of water. At a distance halfway to the moon, a magnetar could strip information from the magnetic stripes of all credit cards on Earth. As of 2010, they are the most magnetic objects ever detected in the universe

I'm back from BOW! On Thursday we left late haha and drove to Wasilla. The weather was sunny and gorgeous the whole way down. Mt. McKinley was AWESOME..it always is, but definitely up close haha. I played hours of Angry Birds on mom's iPad..so addictive. :P We got to Wasilla late and had trouble finding the hotel but with the help of mom's iPad we eventually did. I hate Wasilla..it's ugly and laid out weirdly. Maybe next time we should stay in Palmer cause it's nicer. We got dinner and drove back to the hotel and there were the Northern Lights! So cool..I'd never seen them outside of Fairbanks before. After watching them we went to bed

Friday we got up and had breakfast. The weather was rather foggy but I figured it would clear off. We got on the Glenn Highway and where we were going it was sunny but further away it was foggy. WE ARE SUN BRINGERS! And there was SO much snow this year! Last year Wasilla hardly had any and the camp not too much either but it was PILED this year. Crazyy. We got to camp early and they said we had cabin Castle..the last two years we had Iliamna which was right across from the bathroom..Castle was above the bathroom so it was still pretty close. All the cabins are named after mountains..I'd never heard of Castle but apparently it's in the Wrangell-St. Elias mountains. We set up our beds and had lunch. Jennifer and Windy were there yay!

After lunch was our first class, which was ice fishing for mom and I. They drove us to Long Lake I think it was called. They showed us how to drill in the ice with their super powerful auger thing. There was a dad and his two kids there and both the kids caught fish! That made us hopeful haha. Our instructors had a couple tents (that were HEATED!) we could fish in and since it was darker in there we could see to the bottom of the lake through the holes! Cooool haha. Ice fishing rods are much smaller than regular ones. No one caught ANYTHING! The kids must have gotten them all. ;) That's why it's fishing, not catching. :P I prefer regular fishing, but I wanted to experience ice fishing too

Today mom, dad and I drove to Denali! Last night I was like "I wanna go to the mountains" and this morning mom was like "let's go!" Haha wow. We saw McKinley from the ridge..so awesome. It was such a gorgeous day to be there..nice and sunny. We stopped and the winter visitor's center and went to see and pet the sled dogs! Aww. Then we drove back..we had dinner at the Monderosa near Nenana and drove back to mom's house. A lovely trip, even though it was short haha. We saw some moose too! I shall post my pics tomorrow
