I got home very early this morning and now I can do a recap since I'm not socializing/exhausted haha. I wasn't sure how much time mom and I would spend with Aunt Cindy and Uncle Dean since their friends (Pam and Ken) were visiting too, but we actually spent a lot of our time with them! They were super nice and didn't at all object to having to share Cindy and Dean with us haha. One of the days Pam and I added each other on Facebook and she fistbumped me and said "we're friends now!" Heck yes! Haha. We spent a lot of time shopping downtown (with me admiring all the shops' curtains LOL). There were LOTS of tourists around..for some reason most of the time it was super windy, but otherwise it was sunny and nice. Downtown is dangerous because there are too many things to buy haha. I kept wondering why I was so out of breath doing simple things, until someone said something about the altitude (7,199 feet)..ah yes, that explained it haha. It's also SUPER dry, even drier than Fairbanks! Drinking water didn't help much, but lip balm did, thankfully. We also went to a couple bookstores (one with thousands of books in Spanish..the most in the country, according to the owner), but unfortunately, the one I usually went to was not in business anymore..the last time I was there the owner talked about how much he wanted to retire, so he did (another bookstore owner said he moved to California). It was a cool bookstore though..I wonder what he did with all his books? The library had a little store, with amazingly had a copy of The Worst Journey in the World, which I made Cindy buy LOL..she was like "every time you visit, I end up with a stack of books!" haha. I hope she likes it!

On Thursday I was excited but nervous to see Drew Lynch! Another comedian opened for him, and she owned horses, and said her pronouns were neigh/nem, with I thought was HILARIOUS lol. Eventually it was Drew's turn! He always opens his shows by making fun of or making observations about where he's performing. He mentioned being blown away but the crazy wind, blaming the altitude for stuttering, making fun of the town Truth or Consequences, and also having to use lip balm. There was also someone who was deaf in the audience, so there were a couple ASL interpreters to help him. When Drew came onstage and saw her he was like "oh no, I have to try not to stutter, would that look like a seizure in ASL??" That added part made the show even funnier..I can't remember the deaf person's name, so I'll go with Gary..he and the interpreters had a lot of attention from Drew (both of the interpreters were having fun lol). My favorite part of the show was when Drew stuttered, looked at the interpreter, and said "did you just sign my stutter?!" That's a huge reason I like him so much, he uses humor for his situation (like I do with autism). He's not just another guy trying to be funny..I feel like he would feel vulnerable, but he doesn't seem fazed. I also like how good he is at ad-libbing, like when he saw the interpreters. He has a fun laugh, though the volume was too loud. Mom said she had trouble following him sometimes, because he would start to say something and stop and change what he was going to say, but I'm sure that's because his stutter wouldn't let him say it..that would be frustrating, but he says something like "oh you know!," and continues on. I didn't understand or like ALL of his jokes, but it was still really fun! (I was super exhausted after it was over, too much stimulation!) He likes to post funny parts of his shows on YouTube, and I can't wait to see what he posts from this show! (Hopefully his interactions with the interpreters!) I'll have to share it if he does post it. At the end of the show, he said "you guys were f-ing awesome!" Why thank you. :P Haha. I'm glad he had fun too!

I flew home yesterday, but mom went on to Florida to visit grandpa (he's having cancer treatments and sometimes doesn't feel well). I HAVE to go back to work tomorrow, so I told mom to tell him I said "hi." It was nice to get away for a few days after working so hard during the move! I'm sure there's lots to do still though. :P I'm pretty sure Curti grew while I was gone, he's getting so big!!

17. What makes you angry? Animal abuse, slow internet, being mean for no reason, etc

18. What five things do you want to do on your next birthday? I'd love to take a plane ride to Black Rapids Glacier (there is a company that does that now!), eat cake, open presents, shop at Barnes and Noble haha, relax online

After a lot of hard work, we are finally done moving everything to the bookstore's new building. It was very disorienting and dizzying walking in yesterday and seeing this:
497495204_1243517491113303_7747286534861595656_n
So empty!! Workers had to use some kind of tool to cut into the shelves, and the smell of the burning wood smelled SO good haha. We're so grateful we've had so many people help us move, it would have been super hard without them! Today we went to the landfill to get rid of stuff, and Vicki was SO happy haha, she took lots of pictures of trash, fridges, etc. It was fun throwing the stuff into the piles and breaking stuff haha

This is what it looked like after moving mostly everything:
496346101_30500821872849577_2050786189193609539_n
Wowww. There's a lot of history and memories in that building..floods, big sales, Christmas parties, etc. Goodbye, faithful building! There is SO much stuff in the new building though, yikes! We had to push the opening day later because there's just too much to do. We started organizing today, which is one of Vicki's strong points..she can look at something and barely hesitate and have a plan ready. I'd just stare at the boxes or whatever for like 20 minutes haha. Everyone's glad we have everything moved over now, phew! I'll miss being able to walk to work, but there's a bus stop very close to the new building, which is nice lol. I was thinking about getting a bike too..guess I'll figure it out when I get back from Santa Fe!

Tomorrow mom and I are going to Santa Fe, yay! After that big move, I'm glad I have a few days to relax before working more at the new building (Vicki said I definitely earned this vacation haha). The birch pollen started a couple days ago (my nose has NOT been happy), so I'm even more glad to go somewhere else lol. Hopefully Drew Lynch will put on a good show! I checked the weather, and it's supposed to be sunny and in the 60s while there..nice!!

1. How much black do you have in your wardrobe? Quite a bit..it goes with anything lol
2. When did your pen prove mightier than the sword? Hmm..when defending myself against bullies?
3. How do you feel about Mexican food? Love it! It's not super great in Fairbanks, so the last time I was in DFW Airport (a couple years ago?) I had some and about melted because I'd forgotten how good it tasted haha (especially the queso *drools*)
4. In what situation have you had recently to hold your horses? Yesterday, waiting to go to dinner with mom..I can get impatient waiting lol
5. What are your favorite words beginning with Z? Zephyr, zoniferous, zest, etc

At work, we've all been strongly encouraged to take a few days off, so we don't get burned out/hurt, etc from moving..Vicki showed me the days in May I could take off to go somewhere with mom if I wanted to. I know that the comedian Drew Lynch has been touring (I don't normally care about stand-up comedy, but he is genuinely funny, especially when he jokes about his stutter lol), so I looked at his tour schedule, and what do you know, he'll be in Santa Fe on May 15! Unfortunately Cindy and Dean already have guests staying with them that week, so we're going to stay at an Airbnb downtown (we'll probably see them at some point though), just a couple blocks from the theater Drew's performing at. I LOVE downtown Santa Fe, so that'll be cool. I told mom to watch some of Drew's videos, so she knows what his humor is like. I chose seats on the mezzanine up front, so I don't have to worry about my view being blocked haha. It'll be a nice little break in between moving! It's cool Drew's doing a show on the week I'm taking time off, yay!

Curti got neutered this week, which went well. He's gotten so big and handsome now! Here's a pic of what he looks like at 10 every night, when he goes wild and runs around haha

On Sunday, I flew to Kansas City..I watched Bohemian Rhapsody on the second flight, and got Queen songs stuck in my head all day haha. Cindy and mom picked me up, and I *think* we hung out at Julie's house before getting our hotel room (there would be WAY too many people at Julie's house if everyone stayed there). I also got informed on this MASSIVE drama going on between Gina, Julie and Joelle. It seems that Gina has built up resentment and hurt over the years and is choosing now to air it. There was a long Facetime discussion where Gina was just nasty and had Joelle in tears more than once, and Julie said she had been punched in the gut. Ugh, how awful. I went to bed later and slept HARD, I was so tired!!

The next day mom and the others went to the cemetery to pick out a spot in the mausoleum for grandma..I was far too tired to wake up early enough for that, but I did go to the meeting at the funeral home (what kind of casket we wanted, flowers, etc. The funeral is on Friday), which took forever, and then went to a restaurant because we were all hungry after that haha. When we told the hostess we had seven people in our party, she said "uh..ok..let me see if there's a waiter who'd be willing to serve you." Wha..what?? We were all stunned because we'd never had anyone say that to us before! I think covid killed good customer service. D: Mom and I had to change hotel rooms because there were too many things wrong with it, and went to bed

These last couple days we've been cleaning out grandma's room at the retirement home she lived in, going through pictures and stuff to see who wants to keep them, and trying to manage Gina's drama!! She sent REALLY nasty messages yesterday, saying she couldn't trust "the family" anymore and interpreted Joelle returning something to her as a "sign" she wasn't wanted in the family anymore (Joelle hadn't known it was a gift and she texted Gina saying so, but Gina wouldn't listen to her). She said she would not be going to grandma's funeral and was basically estranging herself from the family. Everyone was hurt and very confused. It's hard to focus to work on grandma's place when getting messages like that! Cindy actually called Gina later to ask if she wanted anything from grandma's place, and also started talking about the drama. She said she hadn't slept and felt better after a day (she works nights) of sleep, but still felt hurt. Me and mom and Cindy all told her we really wanted to see her, and maybe have a healing conversation with Julie and Joelle?? We told her she could stay at the hotel with us. We said she'd feel guilty the rest of her life if she didn't come! She thought about it and then said she'd at least try to make it to the funeral. We're not sure if she really will, but I guess we'll see on Friday (for a minute there I wasn't sure if being here with drama or being stuck in the crazy ice/snow storm in Fairbanks was preferable haha). Cousin Jordan arrived yesterday, who I hadn't seen since his wedding in 2020! It's so weird seeing him grown up haha

Today was thankfully drama-free, so I'm not too drained to write here tonight haha. I *definitely* left Fairbanks at the right time, the ice/snow storm sounded CRAZY..many inches of snow, icy roads, wind, downed power lines, etc. Work was closed for a couple days..wow. I hope things aren't too bad when I fly back on Sunday! Today cousin Jessalyn arrived, who I also hadn't seen in person since 2020. We went through a lot of pictures and mementos and stuff..grandma was so gorgeous when she was younger! We might be doing the same thing tomorrow, and making last-minutes preparations for the funeral. Hopefully it'll stay drama-free!

Thanks for all your condolences about grandma! Mom called today with her sisters and Joelle, and seemed to be in good spirits! Mom said grandma was really struggling to breathe, and they kept saying "it's alright, you can go! Be at peace!" There's this channel on YouTube of a hospice nurse that talks about the reality of death and shows patients right before death, to normalize it and prepare us. I don't know WHY one of her videos popped up on my YouTube feed, but I had to watch because I'm way too curious lol. Mom sent a video before grandma died, and she indeed looked like the "actively dying" patients in the video. When it happened, it was pretty quick. She relaxed, her face became calm, she smiled, and soon ceased breathing. Wow! I'm glad it was so peaceful. Gina said to look for signs grandma is talking to me from the other side (there HAS to be one..if there was nothing, Cherry wouldn't have been able to say hi to me through my phone!), like if I pick up a book and don't know why, or have a dream or something (my previous cats visit me in my dreams, Pumpkin is just as grumpy in the afterlife as she was in real life LOL). Mom said she was talking to Jack and her dog Buddy before she died..probably why she looked so peaceful!

They're not sure when exactly the funeral is, but if I want to go at all, I have to leave tonight ahead of that crazy ice/snow storm that's coming tomorrow night, which will definitely mess things up for awhile (Ryan can't go because he doesn't have any more time off work). Yaaay, all night flying. :/ On the last flight I got the very last seat, in the middle..ugh. I'm excited to see everyone..I'm sure we'll have lots of memories of grandma to share! For the funeral, we're going to wear blue, because it was grandma's favorite color..I like that! I'm going to get her jacket that I wore to Cherry's grave, because it's special, and her copy of Hawaii..that's all I really want (ok, and maybe her curtains LOL). I hope I don't get sick again from traveling D:

One song I like to sing to is "Riders on the Storm," and I looked up the lyrics this morning because dad was listening to it (he LOVES the Doors), and I was surprised by this lyric: "an actor out on loan." I thought it was "an actor out alone"! Oops lol. I also read Jim Morrison whispers in the background on top of the singing, and now I can't unhear it haha..eerie!

Awwww, such a nice kitty <3

Mom and I are driving to Anchorage tomorrow..she has an appointment there on Friday, and mom asked if I wanted to come for a long weekend..of course! The whole time we're going to be there, it's supposed to be in the 50s and sunny or partly cloudy..the day after we leave it's supposed to rain..we're bringing the sun with us again!! Bookstores, yummy food, geocaching, a hotel room with curtains..oh yay!! Hopefully we'll see Denali too!

On Monday, mom and I got to Topeka. Amazingly, it was sunny in Seattle! Mt. Rainier looked epic, and the mist among the valleys looked so cool! My window was too iced up to take pictures though. Cindy picked us up..we were tired after flying all night and morning, but we went to grandma's right away (if we had sat down at Julie's, we wouldn't have wanted to get back up again!). It felt like a furnace when I got out of the car..I had forgotten what 100 degrees feels like!! D: Grandma was sitting up in bed watching the news (she likes Fox News..ugh), and was happy to see us! Her voice is very raspy, but she can talk, and she was eating and joking around with everyone. The previous day, she could barely speak and couldn't get her hand all the way to her mouth to eat, probably why Julie or Cindy called us. We were worried we wouldn't be able to see her in time, and there she was joking around with us! I imagined everyone sitting around her bed watching her last breaths, but nope! How does she DO that?! Seeing relatives helps I'm sure! Eventually we went back to Julie's and went to bed (since Aunt Gina is a night nurse anyway, she stays overnight with grandma)

We've spent a lot of time with grandma these past few days..she even got out of bed and sat in her chair! (Since she can't stand on her own, there's a lift thing with a net that "carries" her where she wants to go.) It's weird though..she can be totally lucid, take a nap and then just..barely be responsive and just stare into space. She won't tell you if she's hungry or thirsty or anything, you have to ask her, and even then may not respond for a minute. I worry we're annoying her, because we're constantly fussing over her (she needs help with everything, like cutting up her food). I keep wondering if she's having mini-strokes. Today when we got there she was happy, ate some food, took a nap, then did her "vacant stare" when she woke up. It's frustrating and really hard to see..we're spending all this time with her and she barely notices. :( I get "cabin fevery" sitting there for hours (I bring my laptop and food and stuff, but it's not quite the same as doing those things at home. Today we were watching hours of memorable performances from America's Got Talent, which was fun, but the TV is SO loud because grandma is somewhat hard of hearing and I was just..going stir crazy. I know we came for grandma, but I'd like to other things too, even just to get a bite to eat or something. I mentioned Olive Garden and mom was like "no, we came for grandma!" and I groaned and put my head in my hands, starting to panic. Cindy could tell I was getting overstimulated and asked if I wanted to leave, which I said yes to, so mom went to the bathroom before we left, and in that time just started crying..ugh, so embarrassing! Mom hugged me and I apologized (I KNOW it's part of autism to involuntarily melt down when overstimulated, but I still feel guilty). She said it was ok and to just tell her "limit" next time, and she'll understand when I need to leave. The silence of Julie's house was very nice after that! Mom said we can go to Olive Garden tomorrow, and anyone else who wants to join us (I wish we could all go, but someone has to stay with grandma). It was pretty hot today too, in the 90s (ugh), but it's supposed to "cool" down into the 80s this weekend. Uncle Dean arrived with Blanca tonight too, after that SUPER exciting drive from Santa Fe LOL (the forgotten corner of Oklahoma is especially exciting O_o). He brought games, so that should help with being less bored too lol

If grandma stays the way she is, mom and Ryan and I will fly back to Fairbanks on Sunday..she has an appointment on Tuesday I think, and I should go back to work (next time I say my grandma is going to die, no one will believe me! It'll be like the boy who cried wolf D:). I'm not sure how long everyone else is staying, but mom had already planned to come to Kansas in September, so she won't be gone too long. I just hope grandma doesn't get bad again after we leave. I hope we can catch grandma in lucid moments again, but we never know what she'll be like, even from hour to hour. I'm glad she's not alone though. Guess we'll see what she's like tomorrow lol

For the past few weeks, grandma has declined rapidly..she became too weak to stand and forgetful. She's now under the care of hospice. Aunt Cindy is there right now, and either her or Julie called mom this morning saying that hospice told her to call family right away. She's so weak now she can barely speak. No one knows how long she has (hours? A few days?), but hospice wanted to make sure everyone was able to see her before she died. Mom and I are leaving tonight..Ryan has been in San Francisco with Jo and they were supposed to fly back home today, but Ryan's now just flying straight to Kansas City. I'm glad I've been able to see her these past few years since she moved back to the States. She's gone through a lot, but now her body's exhausted. We've been expecting this, but it's still sad. Weirdly enough, she wants to be buried at the graveyard I went to earlier in the year, where the sycamore trees sent me an image of their roots cradling the dead, protecting them. She'll be safe there! I hope she'll be able to recognize everyone when we get there tomorrow, and that it won't be too late (I did read somewhere that hearing is the last sense to go before you die, so even if she can't respond, hopefully she can still hear us, so we can say "I love you" and things like that). It'll definitely be hard watching her "actively dying" (what hospice calls it), but hopefully it'll be peacefully in her sleep. We're not sure how long we're going to be visiting, but work understands. I'm glad she'll be surrounded by family in her last days (it's supposed to be in the 90s and 100s in Topeka this week..ugh D:)

Before Ryan and mom and I left yesterday, we took this picture (too bad we hadn't thought to do it when we were with grandma!)
435977917_26449128944685577_3732275616444554402_n
In the back is Aunt Julie, her husband Kerry (my step-uncle?) and Ryan, in front is Aunt Gina, mom, me and cousin Joelle. A great picture, even Ryan's smiling! One thing I hate about Julie's house is that the previous person was a heavy smoker (she can't get rid of the smell no matter how much she cleans..whatever she cleans drips orange. EW D:), and when I get home all my clothes reek of smoke. It can't be healthy breathing that in! D:

On the first flight, as we were descending into Seattle, a bolt of lightning hit the plane right outside my window!! (There was a popping sound too.) I'm sure planes get hit by lightning all the time, but I'd never seen it happen before. Alarming, but cool to see too lol (I also watched Joker..wow, that role must have been hard on Joaquin Phoenix D:). On the second flight I had an isle seat, but when I glanced at the window I saw some snowy scenery..I hope the person sitting at the window saw some glaciers lol. Abby was SUPER happy to see me when I got home, awww. <3 Hopefully there's not a crazy amount of things to do at work tomorrow haha (thankfully, mom isn't super sick, but she still feels "on the edge" of being sick. Glad it didn't get worse!)

The night before last, I tried one of those paranormal apps for myself..I was like "does this REALLY work?" and it came back with "reject!" Ok I'm sorry!! Haha. I asked if Cherry was there and a male British voice answered me, though I couldn't understand what he said. It was when a voice said "hurt you" and "die" that I was like "NOPE," and deleted the app haha. Still kind of interesting though..

Yesterday Gina said we should do something fun, and Ryan was like "let's go to a cemetery!" Ok then LOL. Ryan found one with a statue of a little girl that an anonymous person (or people) that has been dressing the statue for the seasons..they've been doing it for decades! This time she had on a hat and there was a basket of Easter eggs next to her grave. Gina opened her paranormal app, and when I said it was really sad some of the people died so young, it came back with "free!" Well, I suppose that's true lol. When we were next to the statue, a young voice was "talking" the whole time we were there, though we couldn't understand what she was trying to say. When we were about to walk under an oak tree, it said "nuts!" Wow. O_o I liked all the sycamore trees around the cemetery lol

After that, we went to Barnes and Noble, ate dinner, and went to visit grandma..she was in a terrible mood, and really upset because she was getting another med instead of Amitriptyline, and was worried she wouldn't be able to sleep. We also think it was because she had been off her depression meds for a few days. She just wanted to go home too. Poor grandma, she looked so miserable. :( We stayed until visiting hours were over, got some cookies from Crumbl, then went home. Tiring day!

Today Joelle wanted to take us to a cliff with a creek 20 minutes away..Gina said she was going to check on grandma, then come to the cliff with us. We kept waiting and waiting, but the "quick trip" was full of drama..they wanted to release grandma to go back home (she's able to stand now), but the place she lives it won't let her go back without a physical or something, so she has to stay at the rehab place for the weekend. Gina said to go without her..I had been sitting lazily for too long haha, and didn't really want to go, so Ryan, mom and Joelle went to the cliff and Julie and I went to visit grandma. She was definitely in a better mood today! We then went to Red Robin for dinner (mom and the others met us there too). I had the Southern Charm burger..brown-sugar-glazed patty, hardwood-smoked bacon, Whiskey River BBQ Sauce, cheddar, caramelized onion, and mayo. OMG SO GOOOOD. *drools* We then went back to say goodbye to grandma, since we're leaving tomorrow (mom was going to stay, but she woke up feeling like she was getting sick, so she's coming back with me and Ryan..we don't want grandma to get sick again!!). I said I'd see her next time, at her nice apartment. I think having family around her definitely helped her recovery. We're all amazed at how her unhealthy body keeps fighting! Mom and Joelle showed me cool rocks and shells from the cliff..I'll have to go there next time!

Ryan and I have middle seats on the flight to Seattle tomorrow, ugh. At least I can do it on Prozac. I remember the last time I was here Julie's squeaky kitchen chairs drove me CRAZY, this time I barely noticed it! It's definitely an amazing med!

On Monday after midnight, mom and I started the journey to Kansas..ugh, redeyes are exhausting haha. On the second flight, when I started watching Thor: Love and Thunder, I 100% did NOT expect to hear "Only Time" by Enya! I LOVE that song, so I was pleased and surprised haha. We got a rental car after we landed, got food at Sonic so we could stay awake, then drove to Julie's house. Unfortunately, Aunt Cindy's dog Blanca has been very sick (she threw up blood D:), and since grandma's been doing well, she's not going to come until Blanca is stable. I'm sad I don't get to see her, but I'd do the same if Abby was sick. We briefly stopped at Julie's house and then went to see grandma (we were exhausted, but we couldn't get comfortable or we wouldn't want to get up again!). When we got to her room, Julie, Joelle and Gina were already there..everyone was happy to see us! Grandma taking my hands and thanking me for coming was definitely worth the exhaustion! We think she got sepsis from picking at her skin (she has some kind of skin condition, and she is convinced there are worms in her skin for some reason O_o), and even though she literally almost DIED, she was still picking at her skin, which frustrated everybody. I understand somewhat because I've been picking at my skin for 30+ years..it's HARD to stop, but I think I'd be cured if I almost died O_o

Aunt Gina is very into metaphysics/Reiki/paranormal things, so she was talking to us about chakras and auras and stuff like that. She was surprised I couldn't see people's auras/energy, but I can definitely feel them! It just..soaks into my skin when people are upset or angry. I asked her if animals could feel them, because animals like dogs who don't normally go to strangers come to both mom and I, and she said yes. Interesting. She also has these tuning fork things that are supposed to be healing or something, and my face twitched when she put the fork next to my face haha. We stayed until visiting hours were over, then went back to Julie's house, where we were finally able to go to bed. I had to take Clonazepam because traveling is overstimulating, but after that, I didn't wake up until 10:30!

I definitely felt pretty wrecked when I woke up yesterday..traveling from Alaska is exhausting! Ryan arrived yesterday, and everyone was definitely happy to see him when we went to the hospital. Gina did the tuning fork thing on Ryan, and he said it gave him images of Sedona. Grandma was able to eat more, which was a good sign. We again stayed until visiting hours were over, then went back home. I went to sleep kinda quickly, woke up once during the night, and slept until 9 something! If only I slept like that at my apartment haha

This morning Gina was showing me and Ryan these paranormal apps, where it picks up spirits talking to you (one was Necrometer). I wasn't sure if those were even real, but Ryan was making a parfait, and one voice said "parfait?" O_o I about died when I heard "we are here!" OMG. Gina told the spirits our names, and the spirit came back with his name. That was..quite interesting. *shivers* Gina went to see grandma and mom took a shower, and when we got on the road, we got a text saying she was going to be discharged to a medical rehab type place! Considering how sick she was, that is so awesome! We visited for a few minutes at the hospital, and left when they were preparing to move her to the other place. Mom and Ryan and I went to Wal-Mart to get groceries, dropped them off at Julie's, then went to the assisted living place to get some of grandma's things. That assisted living place isn't as fancy as the previous one, but it's still pretty nice (I was excited to see the curtains LOL). Grandma loves the food there too. While there, I left notes all around her apartment, like "welcome home! You are strong!" under her pillow, "it's cold in here!" in her fridge, "walk like an Egyptian" on her walker, etc. She's going to love that when she gets back home hehe. When we checked in at the rehab place, I was surprised there weren't any curtains at the entrance lol. Grandma's bed looked way more comfortable than the hospital bed! She looked great too. After dropping off her stuff and walking back to the entrance, I suddenly saw a whole bunch of curtains there! How did I miss them before?! Weird haha. After that we went to Olive Garden (breadsticks and five cheese ziti...*drools*) and then went back to Julie's. It's nice to relax now!

pics so far! )

13. How Careful Are You Online? I try to be careful, sometimes I probably slip up though..

14. Have You Ever Reinvented Yourself? Sure, especially when I first got into metal music and when I moved to Alaska

15. Which Is More Important: Talent or Hard Work? Both, they go together lol

On Friday, grandma went to the hospital because she had a fever, was vomiting, and her leg was really red. Aunt Julie texted mom saying something like "I'm no doctor, but I think this is 'it.'" They gave her antibiotics and that seemed to perk her up some, but yesterday morning got worse again. She was diagnosed with sepsis and given more antibiotics. Aunt Gina (who is a nurse) drove up and looked at her chart, and she said it looked like she had had a heart attack, and wasn't sure she was going to make it. Aunt Cindy, mom, me and Ryan bought plane tickets last night, fearing the worst (of course Vicki understood). Amazingly, grandma is feeling better this morning, and turned out she hadn't had a heart attack after all. Mom was talking to her and she seemed pretty cheerful! We're still going to visit (mom and I are leaving tonight, and Ryan will leave on Monday. He hasn't seen grandma in person since 2007!!)..things could always take a turn for the worse again (I didn't see my paternal grandma before she died, and have regretted it ever since). Grandma's health is awful, so I'm amazed at how her body keeps fighting! Hopefully having many people around who love her will help her heal too lol. Ryan and I are staying a week, mom more if needed. I hope she continues to improve!

Not the best picture of me, but Abby loves being held like a baby haha

I love how she always sticks her paws up when I hold her like that haha

We made it home today! On one of the flights I watched Les Miserables..HOW had I not seen it before?? Some of the songs were tedious, but I LOVED the "Look down, look down" song and "Do You Hear The People Sing?" On both the United flights, mom upgraded us to the premium section, and it was AWESOME..so much room!! We got an Air B&B in Seattle near the airport, and got a few hours' sleep. We had to wake up at 5 something today, ugh. I saw some nice mountains and glaciers, and watched Unbroken in between glacier watching haha. Yesterday seems like it was a long time ago. :P We got in at 11 something, thought it felt like it was later since we'd been up so long. I am definitely tired, maybe I'll take a nap later. I feel bad for Jo, because he has to leave tomorrow to go on a work trip to Phoenix..ouch. Everyone was COLD when we walked outside..I guess we got acclimated to Puerto Rico lol. Abby was definitely happy to see me..I love her "don't stop petting me!" face hehe. <3 I'm glad I have another day to rest before I go back to work

a few more pics )

3 – Sandwich Day: Do you like sandwiches? What's your favourite sandwich filling? Yeah..turkey, cheddar cheese, mayo, onions, etc

4 – Candy Day: Do you have a sweet tooth? What's your favourite candy? Yeah..M&Ms, Smarties, etc

On Saturday, dad drove us to the airport. I guess in June United sent mom an itinerary change (Dulles instead of Newark) and she told the ticket agent..their system still showed Newark and she couldn't change another company's itinerary, so mom had to call United. The guy on the phone tried to fix it, but couldn't, so we had to check our bags just to Seattle and pick them up there. I saw a couple glaciers on the flight to Seattle, but the wing was right across from me, so it was hard to see them. We picked up our bags in Seattle and then went to United to check them the rest of the way (I'm glad we all have TSA Pre-Check, it makes going through security much easier! The Seattle flight left at 11 something (yaay, redeyes :/) and got to Dulles at 7 something. I got a tiny bit of sleep, but it's just so hard sleeping sitting up! On one of these flights I was reading a sci-fi book I brought, and suddenly it mentioned Puerto Rico, and how a character went to Caja de Muertos (literally "box of death," but it's usually translated as "Coffin Island," because it looks like someone in a coffin). I was like "huh, what are the chances of that??" When I landed, I Googled the island, which, incredibly, is off the coast of Ponce!!! What are the chances the book I've been reading (which mostly takes place in space) just HAPPENS to mention a place near Jo's hometown?!? Wow. The flight to San Juan took about four hours..we were definitely all tired of being stuffed on planes all day! On the flights I watched Murder on the Nile (I'd been wanting to watch it, since I recently read the book), Elemental and a good portion of Luca

After we landed, I walked outside and was completely overpowered by how HUMID it was! It felt like I was eating it! Crazy. Jo picked us up and drove us the hour and a half to Ponce. We drove through a crazy storm, with cloud-to-ground lightning and crazy loud thunder (maybe part of Hurricane Tammy?). I asked Jo if he had been to Caja de Muertos, and he said that he had! It's a nature reserve and has an abandoned lighthouse. As we neared Ponce, he pointed to the left and said "there is is!" OMG I can't get over that coincidence haha! It indeed looks like someone laying in a coffin. Guess I brought the right book to read. :P There are giant red letters saying "PONCE" right before you drive in. We got to Jo's mom's (Carmen) house, and Carmen and Jo's brother Jonathan greeted us (they visited Alaska a few years ago). When I walked into the house, I was surpised at how WHITE it was..the walls, floor, curtains, etc..blinding haha. It also looked spotless, which made me terrified to touch anything haha (Jo wasn't kidding when he said his mom loved order and cleans the house a lot :P). There are actually marks on the floor from when they killed centipedes with machetes haha! Jo's cousin was also over, and I showed her a pic of Abby and said "mi gato Abby!" At first mom was too scared to try to speak any Spanish..I attributed my confidence to Prozac (best medicine ever!!). It's weird though..when you try to speak Spanish to people here they look at you funny and are generally uncomfortable. After we settled in, a couple of Jo's aunts and more cousins came over (most of the family lives nearby). Only Jo and Jonathan speak English fluently..Carmen can read English, but only can say a few words. Still cool to see the people Jo talks about though! We had dinner, relaxed more, and mom and I were so tired we went to bed at 8 something haha. I fell asleep alright, but then woke up at 11 or 12 something feeling like I had been beaten up..my body ached (especially my back and butt), and my nerves felt like they were shocking me. I knew I wasn't sick though, because I've experienced similar things when traveling and being overstimulated. I laid awake miserable for a couple hours, but finally I knew I had to take Clonazepam and Motrin. I hadn't taken any Clonazepam since July and felt proud of my record, but this was one of those times I just knew I had to take some. I was able to go back to sleep after the meds kicked in (imagine how I would have felt if I hadn't been on Prozac!)

This morning I was half-awake, and all of a sudden felt an earthquake! It was funny, because yesterday mom was like "NO hurricanes or earthquakes while we're here!" The earth said "challenge accepted" LOL. I went back to sleep, woke up at 10 something, said "NOPE," and finally got up around 11:30..I definitely needed the sleep though. After breakfast we decided to check out a bookstore..on the way, it started POURING rain! The streets were like rivers, and my feet got soaked walking to the bookstore haha. The store had some books in English, but most were in Spanish..it was interesting seeing the Spanish translation of popular titles though. We also explored downtown, got some ice cream, and went to a gift shop. In certain places, you can still see the damage from Hurricane Maria (2017)..sad. There are cool old colorful historical buildings downtown. After that we went to the store..it was interesting seeing food unique to Puerto Rico (tamarinds, for one). After that we went back to the house, relaxed (I felt achy again, and took more Motrin, which helped some), and then went with Carmen to Hard Rock Cafe! A local band performed when we were there, they were actually pretty good! I got a shirt and pin for my backpack, yay! There were really cool frog sounds in the trees near the restaurant. Then we drove home. I'll probably go to bed soon after posting this lol, traveling is tiring :P

some pics! )

21 – International Walk to School Month: Did you walk to school as a child? Are parents today too over-protective to let their children walk to school? I did when I was in 1st to 3rd grade, but then they rezoned me to a school further away..made no sense, but I guess "they" do what they want :P

22 – Colour Day: National Colour Day focuses on the impact colour has on each of us. Beyond having a favourite colour, are there colours that evoke specific feelings or memories in you? Colours you avoid or dislike because they remind you of something you'd rather forget, or give off "bad vibes"? Is there a colour that immediately brightens your mood, or calms you? Do you decorate your home with lots of bright colours? How important is colour in your life? OMG too many questions haha. Blue reminds me of glaciers. Hmm..I don't think so?? I mean I don't like pink, but that's just a preference lol. Blue and purple can make me happy Not really. It's definitely a nice thing to have!

23 – iPod Day: Have you ever owned an iPod (or other portable media player)? Do you remember those first songs? Do you still listen to them? What have you become in the days that have past, and do you smile with nostalgia or cringe with embarrassment as you remember your favorites from ages gone by? I did in high school..there were a bunch of metal songs on it. Not really. I smile and cringe at the same time LOL
glacier_kitty: (Default)
1. What song do you live for at the moment? I always love hearing "Losing My Religion," it's really fun to sing to!
2. Is there a band or artist that you attach to a particular memory? What memory is it? Oh yes.."Uptown Funk" during one of the summer festivals and dancing to it at Dana's wedding, singing and headbanging to "Bohemian Rhapsody" with friends in high school, the singer of HammerFall looking right into my eyes during "Blood Bound" at a concert, etc
3. What's the most beautiful song lyric you've ever heard? Hmm..the one that comes to mind right away is from "Dead to the World" by Nightwish: "I studied silence to learn the music, I joined the sinful to regain innocence." It definitely makes you think!
4. If you could choose any band/artist to cover any song, which combination would you pick? Someone (Nightwish?) should do a metal version of "My Heart Will Go On," that would be epic haha!
5. What's the best concert you've ever attended? Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Kamelot

The sale at work went very well, we made almost $8000!! That smashes our previous record of a little over $6000 (before covid, our record was $2000 something..we did that in like an hour and a half this time haha). We play music and dance at the register and the customers smile at how much fun we're having..a great atmosphere! I was definitely busy reshelving this week lol

Yesterday I woke up to Abby sleeping next to my head, and purring when I stroked her..it's easy to be in a good mood the rest of the day after waking up to that! <3

Tomorrow mom and Ryan and I start our journey to Puerto Rico! (Jo's already there.) I'm nervous about meeting Jo's family, but it'll be cool to see a new place! It's going to be in the 80s and 90s there..I hope I don't overheat!!

1. Besides work, what takes up the biggest portion of your day? Sleep, going online..
2. If you could do anything as a career, what would it be? Maybe owning a bookstore..
3. Do you feel too much emphasis is placed on having a career? Maybe, but it's important for a lot of people to think about at least
4. If you have a college/university degree, are you working in your field? I don't
5. What would be the most boring job to have and why? Finance, accounting stuff, for one..not interesting and too many numbers haha

I'm going back to work on Thursday (June 1)! I'm definitely not 100% better, but still better than I was before (I'm still working on the sleep issue..I had an at-home sleep study done a couple nights ago, though I only slept for like 1.5 seconds haha..they're going to call me when a follow-up appointment becomes available). I'm going to work for a couple hours to see how I do, and go from there. I DEFINITELY needed that break though..I was an exhausted depressed mess haha. I suddenly felt ready to go back just recently though..like sitting around for five months was more than enough lol, and I was feeling guilty about not working when other people (like Jo) have been working so hard..I didn't want them to judge me. Denise said the customers will be so happy to see me again..they still ask when I'm coming back! There are a couple new people who started after I left, and even though I only met them a couple times when I've come in during a sale or whatever, THEY even said they missed me, even though I've never worked with them! Wow, I must have built a reputation haha. Even though money isn't everything, it'll still be nice to get paid again. :P I'm kinda nervous, but I hope I do well!

In October mom and I are going with Ryan and Jo to Puerto Rico to visit Jo's family! Mom and I met his mom and brother when they came to Alaska a few years ago, but they're the only ones we've met. It'll be cool to meet the rest of the family and see a new place! I hope it's not too hot though :P

Before we left on Sunday, we took one last selfie with Cindy and Dean:
346487524_198974926298379_5863950566279876184_n
Yay! The flight out of Albuquerque left late, so they were boarding our next flight to Fairbanks when we landed!! When we finally got to the gate, they had already closed the door, but they let us on, phew!! There were actually a lot of people missing, so they nicely waited for them too. It was still too dark along the coast to see any glaciers though, darn. Abby was SO happy to sleep with me again haha, she kept pawing at my face for attention :P

When we were in Kansas, Cindy and mom and I went through boxes of grandma's things that had been stored in Julie's garage a long time..it was cool seeing cards I sent her when I was a kid! There were also baby pics of me, and mom and I about died when we saw this one:
347396221_772661497753068_6221991518266543399_n
I had a four-poster CRIB?! That's amazing!! It must have planted the seed, I always wondered if the regular four-posters would be cozy and "protective" :P (they are!)

pokemon update )

15 – Bring Flowers to Someone Day: When was the last time someone gave you flowers? When was the last time you brought flowers to someone else? Not sure. Maybe last year for Mother's Day?

16 – Biographers' Day: Do you like reading biographies? What have been some of your favourites? If you're not a fan, why not? If you were going to write a biography of someone, who would that be? Sure, they can be interesting. Cherry's, George Vi's, etc. Not sure..

Yesterday we went downtown to the New Mexico History Museum..it was pretty interesting. There were Native American artifacts, Spanish artifacts, history about both world wars, railroad history, etc. There were a lot of things, and we didn't get to see everything (like the inside of the Palace of the Governors, built in 1610, the oldest public building in continuous use constructed by European settlers in the continental United States) because we had dinner reservations at 5..we'll have to go back next time we visit. We had dinner at a nearby Mexican restaurant. I really love downtown Santa Fe..there are SO MANY shops and a lot of times there's music playing (this time there was a Native American dancing), the bells of the nearby chapel ring regularly, and just feels cultural and has a nice atmosphere. Santa Fe is just unique in general. Then we went home and played our last games of Catan for this trip..Dean is going to have withdrawals LOL

a couple pics from the museum )

Well, the long vacation has come to an end..mom and I fly back to Alaska later today. It's been tiring, but a nice change too. I'll miss Santa Fe and Cindy and Dean! I miss Abby and it'll be nice to see her again! I hope she remembers me LOL. I'll have a lot of mail to catch up on..hopefully nothing too urgent lol. One reason mom and I stayed this long was to avoid all the pollen, but I guess Fairbanks was colder than normal and the pollen has just now started..that's going to be fun to go back to. D: My suitcase is STUFFED haha. Hopefully I'll see some cool glaciers on the flight to Alaska :D

13 – World Fair Trade Day: Do you try to buy certified fair trade products? No..oops lol

14 – World Migratory Bird Day: World Migratory Bird Day is observed twice a year during the second Saturday in May and again on the second Saturday in October. The goal is to raise awareness of issues affecting migratory birds and to inspire action around the world to take measures for their conservation. Do you live in a region that sees bird migrations in the spring and fall? Light pollution is a major threat to migratory birds. Does your municipality have any "Dim the Lights" policies in place to protect migratory birds? Yes, one reason we have Creamer's Field..to keep the birds away from the airport. I don't think so..

Yesterday mom and I left Florida..before we did, we took a selfie with grandpa and Ron:
345833173_167598202637039_8104897722807420166_n
Grandpa cried when we got in the car to leave, awww. :( Goodbyes are always sad (except to Florida, bleh). I think in June Ron and Teresa are driving up to South Dakota, where Stephanie works..it would be cool to visit them there!

This time when flying into DFW, I saw Lewisville and Grapevine lakes and Grapevine Mills mall..cool! Grapevine Lake seemed bigger than I remember..weird. Also weird was that the terminal we flew into this time was more like how I remembered the airport, and definitely not as "modern" and plush as the other terminal. There were storms flying out of Texas..it was cool seeing the lightning from the air!

I'm really enjoying how cool Santa Fe feels compared to Florida. I felt kind of wrecked when I woke up though..I think I'm travel weary :P

may 9-11 )
glacier_kitty: (Default)
On Saturday mom and I flew to Florida..we had a layover at DFW, which is always SO WEIRD. That airport has completely changed..it's plush and modern now! I didn't recognize much flying in, except the general Texas feel haha. Teresa and Ron picked us up in Tampa and drove us to grandpa's house in Crystal River (80 some miles away). Grandpa goes to bed super early (it used to be 9, but it's between 7-7:30 now!!), so we didn't see him that night. Mom and I just wanted to go to bed after traveling anyway :P

Yesterday after everyone was gathered we took Theresa and Ron's dog Reece for a walk..it was pretty hot, even though it was relatively early. Grandpa came down the street on his 1929 Model A and gave me a ride back to his house! So cool!
345257954_652503553377216_4200426025001584494_n
After that we drove down to the ocean and stood on the boardwalk for awhile, and found a geocache on the way back, which had a $2 bill in it!! Cool! I love that Teresa and Ron like geocaching, because none of my other family members really do. I love how easygoing they've always been..if their daughter Stephanie was like "can we go to McDonald's?" Teresa would say "absolutely!" with no hesitation. We took a selfie after we found the cache:
346030686_751492039787737_1148147415536649392_n
Mom, Teresa, me, Ron

Then we went back to grandpa's house, had dinner, and went to Teresa and Ron's motorhome to hang out after grandpa went to bed (they're staying at a campground a few miles from grandpa's house). They have a pretty nice setup! After that mom and I went back to grandpa's house and went to bed

Today Ron took us to a trail that led to the Withlacoochee River (and found a couple geocaches in the area). It was SO, SO hot (high 80s) and wasn't enjoying myself at all. We only got halfway before we had to turn around, because I was completely miserable and overheating. We did find a place to park to see the river, which was clear and beautiful. I REALLY needed something cool to drink, so we went to Wal-Mart and I got a lemonade and some cooler pants. Ron drove me back to grandpa's house because I was tired and hot and DONE (everyone else went back to Ron's motorhome for a couple hours). I laid in bed under the fan and rested. I could never live in Florida, the heat and humidity are AWFUL, and I keep seeing "Trump 2024" flags and stuff..blech. Seeing family is nice, but I can't wait get out of this state on Wednesday. We had dinner after everyone got back, hung out, and then Teresa and Ron left for the night. Amazingly, grandpa stayed up until after 10 tonight!! Having people around probably helps lol..I hope he's not tired tomorrow though :P
