1. Have you seen a solar eclipse? Total, Partial, Annular? When and where? The only one I've seen was in May 2012, at Creamer's Field with dad (the shadows looked so cool!). Google says it was partial and annular
2. Have you seen a lunar eclipse? Full? Partial? When and where? The first one I saw was in Texas in 2004 (mom and I watched at the pool at a newly-opened fitness center, it was fun!), next was 2008 and 2010 in Alaska. They were all total eclipses (I'm so glad I have my LJ for reference, otherwise I'd forget what years they were in!)
3. Have you seen a comet? Which one? When and where? Mom said I saw Hale–Bopp (I think), but I don't remember seeing it
4. Have you seen a nova or supernova? When and where? I don't think so?
5. Have you seen a meteor shower? Which one, when and where? I've seen the Geminid Meteor Shower in 2009, Orionid and Geminid Meteor Shower in 2010, and the Quadrantid Meteor Shower in 2011 (thank you, LJ! Haha), all in Alaska. They're so cool to watch!

Yesterday was my 16 year anniversary of moving to Alaska! A good number ;)

I had a doctor appointment a couple days ago just to check up..they did bloodwork and it showed my cholesterol dropped by a whole bunch of points, and most everything else looked great. I guess not being depressed and walking so much at work helps with cholesterol too lol

A few days ago we went to Gunstock Hill Books, which we've been to a couple times before when visiting (it specializes in rare/collectable books). I told the owner mom and I were from Alaska and I like polar books, and he remembered us again! Cool haha. Otherwise, we haven't done anything super exciting, besides going to stores and playing Catan most nights (Dean LOVES it haha). Dean usually wins, but I finally did a couple nights ago! I think today we're going to go downtown and look in some shops and stuff..hopefully it won't be TOO busy :P

Monday (April 10th) was my 15 year anniversary of moving to Alaska! Wow, that went by fast. It definitely changed my life!

a few more pics )

10 – International Safety Pin Day: Invented in 1849, where would we be without them? Or do you think there is less of a place for them in modern life than there was in the past? I used them to put up the fall/Thanksgiving decorations on my bed, so they can still be useful

11 – Eight Track Tape Day: Eight Track Tape Day recognizes an era that was here and gone in a short 20 years. Are you old enough to remember eight tracks? Some technologies, like the Betamax, never caught on even though they were the superior product. Can that be said of eight tracks? No, I just remember cassette tapes

12 – World Hamster Day: Did you know there are 24 different species of hamsters? Have you ever had a hamster as a pet? I didn't and no..they're cute though

13 – Scrabble Day: When was the last time you played scrabble? Was it on a board or an online version? I think it was a few years ago at a volunteer picnic at work, it was a lawn version with huge tiles lol

14 – Look Up At The Sky Day: Go and have a look out the window at the sky and tell us what you see (if anything!) Clouds and blue sky..pretty!

Haha yep, all the seasons in one day! There are so many "lakes" in my parents' neighborhood during the "summer" part of the day, because whoever built the neighborhood didn't put a drainage system in..good job, people :P

Tomorrow I fly to Kansas, yay! I can't wait to see everyone! It's supposed to be in the 70s and 80s most of the time with thunderstorms (no tornadoes, please!!). Hopefully I'll see some glaciers on the flight to Seattle! (My aunt messaged me on Facebook with a link to a bookstore in Topeka and said we should go there..she knows me too well :P)

Today is my 10 year anniversary of moving to Alaska!! I can't believe it's been 10 years already! It's so weird to think of my life before coming up here..it feels like it was from another lifetime (not much happened at the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008 before I moved up here..my LJ entries from then are really boring haha). I'm pretty sure I'm a completely different person now. It was VERY hard moving, and a huge culture shock. I remember before leaving Texas I was looking at the scenery and was like "wow, I'm so proud to be a Texan," or something like that, and when I came back a year later and looked at the same scenery..nothing. It was so weird! I wonder what I saw before, because it just looked boring to me after LOL. It was around 9 or 10 degrees when I landed and I was just wearing a light leather jacket, so I was FREEZING haha. I still remember the first time the thermometer reached 0 degrees, seeing my first moose, and seeing the Northern Light for the first time (they were awesomely purple!), I remember feeling so lonely and left out the first time I went to the Midnight Sun Festival because I didn't know anyone, and now I pretty much always see someone I know. I've had SO many amazing experiences here, it's such a great place! Here's to many more great years and experiences <3

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Cherry's signature??

Take a look at that site for amazing Alaska pictures, especially Fairbanks. It's sort of shows the beauty of the summer. In the glacier section the fact that there was a picture of Meares Glacier destroying trees made me happy haha (and that it's advancing :D)

Dad said he saw a bunch of Mt. McKinley's glaciers (with moraines!) while flying to Anchorage yesterday. I better be able to see them if I'm able to fly to California haha (and over Canada too!)
