1. In your city, where might a visitor find a wretched hive of scum and villainy? Probably somewhere I never go to lol, sketchy-looking places scare me D:
2. When did you most recently do something you didn’t think you could do? Probably the karaoke in Kansas..watching the video makes me SO happy haha. I feel like I might even be able to do it again someday! (Give me wine first though :P)
3. If a robot could do all but two of your regular menial chores, which two would you continue to do? Laundry, making my bed (it's sacred! Bumping against the posts is not allowed :P)
4. Who best qualifies as a mentor in your life today? Vicki, mom
5. How are you at chess? TERRIBLE haha. I went to a charter school in 9th grade and they made you play chess in the morning..I hated it and always lost lol

How have I been spending a bunch of Thanksgiving Break so far (besides eating too much LOL)?

It's hard to eat and use my laptop when Abby's in my lap haha, but when a cat chooses to sit in your lap, you just can't say no! Her old bones are very creaky now, I have to be careful with moving her..I don't want anything to get broken!

Today I had to do errands because I really need a new computer chair and desk (sorry Abby :P)..I found ones I liked, but I'm nervous I won't like the change..the desk doesn't arrive until sometime in December, so I have lots of time to get mentally prepared :P

There are live cameras on YouTube filming the Icelandic volcano erupting..it's fun to watch it for a couple minutes throughout the day!

Today we went to Chili's! Yaay, I've missed Chili's since they closed in Alaska. We also went to Kohl's..they used to have nice clothes but they're ugly like everywhere else now..ugh. We also went to a glasses place cause mom needed new nosepads (I got some too..mine were gross). Stephanie and I were trying on nerdy glasses..it was so funny haha. I like hanging out with them cause they're so easygoing and funny..we always make lots of inside jokes :P ("cilantro tastes like soap!). We were gonna go hiking but it's been raining all day so we didn't (we went on a 3 mile walk around the neighborhood yesterday though). Tomorrow we're gonna go to the buffalo farm..yayy!

Take the first sentence of the first post of each month for the past year. <-- I'm actually gonna do the second day since I always put the books I read from the month before on the first day

February: Best news title EVER: "Man arrested in Chile for stealing a glacier."
March: 1. How do you react to people begging at intersections?
April: Hee :D
May: FAIRBANKS - Tom Waters did it again and this time he doesn’t have to share the prize with anyone
June: I don't know if it counts, but I bought Angry Birds online even though you can play it offline
July: Seeing the most glaciers :D
August: I was checking Facebook earlier when I saw this..
September: Warm our laps (lol this was a "what cats do for us" list :P)
October: Today was the earthquake final
November: I'm back from Talkeetna!
December: Type these words into the search bar on your music player and list the first song that appears in the results

Wow..this is usually way more interesting D:

I never knew you could do so many errands in one day..part of it was that downtown's doing "The Great Alaskan Nutcracker Chase"..you go to certain businesses and try to find their nutcracker and you get a stamp for finding them. When you get all the stamps you get entered in a drawing on the 21st (the bookstore is participating too). It's really fun! And a good excuse to go shopping and to get a smoothie at River City Cafe. ;) I got a lot stamped, but I was WAY too worn out and tired of being cold to do the last 3. We left at 10 something in the morning and didn't get back home till 5 something! It's so nice to be doing nothing now haha

The Northern Lights, snowy mountains in the sun, glaciers, Alaska sunrises/sunsets, yellow tamaracks..mmm *drools*

I did so many errands yesterday haha..I spent a ton of money at Beaver Sports (yay I got goggles) but I kept finding good stuff haha. It's annoying doing errands at -23 though cause you just get cold so fast (we're still breaking records too!)

Day 142- A picture of nature )

Yesterday I spent some quality time with mom haha. We first went to a Chinese restaurant in North Pole called Pagoda that everyone says is really good. I had tried some of Pat's food she got there and it was really good so I wanted to go. It was pretty good..I got the Mongolian beef. After that we were gonna go back to Fairbanks but mom saw "mall" and was like "OMG we have to check out the North Pole mall it's gotta be as exciting as the Fairbanks mall!" haha. We went in and I saw a salon type place. I got my eyebrows waxed cause they really needed it. They also did pedicures and I felt like getting one. I called mom (she was in another store) and she agreed to do one with me. I hadn't done something like that in a long time so I figured why not haha. This was my first one! It was nice..they put a bunch of lotions and stuff on your feet and legs and painted your nails. Mmm soft cleanliness haha. There was also a hair cutting place in the mall and I would have got it cut since my hair really needs it but I had already made an appointment somewhere else. Ah well. After our nails dried we went back to Fairbanks and went to Wal-Mart for groceries. Then we went home. Yay time with mom haha

I was watching The Beckoning Silence with mom and I kept squealing when Joe Simpson was on the screen hehe

The aurora was out again last night..there's something soothing and peaceful about watching them dance :D

Day 16- Scared Face )

Yesterday when I got to Southall (the apartment place) Marjorie showed me around..I saw the meeting area, kitchen, etc. Then she showed me my apartment. It's a rather nice size for one person..I think it's bigger than Dana's haha. We inspected it and made sure everything worked. It's on the second floor and it has a balcony that faces the sun (perfect for my solar telescope!). Then I signed the paperwork for the lease and stuff and brought some things into the apartment (an air mattress, etc)

Today mom got off work early to do stuff with me. We began the day with breakfast at Sourdough Sam's. As we crested the hill on Ballaine I saw this brownish hazy stuff in the air..mom said a chinook was coming (lots of chinooks this winter! Haha) so I'm guessing it was glacial silt from the rivers being blown around (I've seen it before when I was in the mountains during a chinook and the silt was being blown around). At Sam's I had a Mexican omlette..they put salsa on it which was REALLY good..like Texas good..wow. Then we went to GCI to make an appointment to get Internet/cable TV/a phone installed (yeah cable! Haha). They're gonna come on Friday. Then we went shopping around town for furniture and stuff for the apartment. I found a nice nightstand with drawers and a black chair and I got stuff like bath towels, a shower curtain, etc. We took that all to the apartment and set it up. I shall get pics when it's more set up..yayness haha

Would you rather try to take a banana from a giant monkey or try to take an egg from a mother goose while she's sitting on her nest? Hmm..the egg?

Today's trivia: Baby giraffes grow as much as one inch every two hours

Mom and I did errands today. We talked to that girl from Barnes and Noble (her name's Christine) and I filled out a job application. We went to Wal-Mart..I saw a Narnia Prince Caspian birthday card and mom got it for me haha. We also got the Indiana Jones movies, The Golden Compass, and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. We ate lunch at The Cookie Jar restaurant..they had a trivia thing in this booklet with ads. One of the questions was "what's a baby beaver called?" and I guessed kittens..and I was right haha. I was praising myself rather loudly. :P Then we went to the job meeting (with the lady who held the orientation). We taked about stuff and I have another meeting with her on the 11th..I'm gonna meet with a job coach if I can. I feel really dirty after all the stuff we did for some reason :P

I sent the last check from the paid surveys to dad..yesterday he called and said he deposited $20 into my account. My check was only like $10 something and apparently it wasn't worth it to just put that much in. Sooo of course I go to amazon and buy "Universal Migrator Parts 1-2" by Ayreon and a book

Today's stupidest quote: from the poem "The Potato" by Lilian E. Curtis (as collected in the book Very Bad Poetry)
What would this world full of people do,
Rich and poor; high and low,
Were it not for this little-thought of
But very necessary Potato?

Mom and I ran more errands today. I got an ID at the DMV, got barbecue chicken and a baked potato with chili at a restaurant (*drools*), got an application to work at the movie theater, went to this place that helps people with disabilities get jobs, etc. We talked to this lady and I have to fill out this form that will determine if I qualify for social security or some disability thing (for autism). They could help me find the right job and stuff. Then we went to the courthouse and made an appointment for social security (next Monday). Lastly we went to Barnes and Noble and I got Sybil and a quiz book and a Mother's Day card..I had to pay for it first before the other things and hide it under my jacket so mom wouldn't see haha

I drempt I was on American Idol and I was in the top 3. I was watching myself on a tape and I heard my voice and I was like "I sound like that?" Then there was the part before the performance where the contestants talk about their songs and I was surprised at how composed and normal sounding I was (I was talking about a guy haha). Then there was the performance with everyone on the elmination show..I sang with the other two people. I was proclamed safe and I was like "WOOO!" Though after that (or even before) I may have started lucid deaming haha

Today's stupidest quote: This neither aids nor hinders us, but all the contrary (Mexican secretary of agriculture Bernardo Aguirre, visiting the cyclone-battered state of Sinaola)
