Yesterday I learned that Marjorie, my landlady of almost ten years, had passed away. I just saw her last week and she seemed fine, so it must have been sudden. I was so surprised and sad..she was always so nice and we had good conversations about cats and stuff lol. She will definitely be missed..it'll probably be hard to replace her, since she'd been working here so long. So sad, and scary to be reminded of mortality D:

Mom asked me to go to bingo with her to help her and her boss celebrate a customer's birthday, so I was like "suree" haha (it was a surprise party, and she started crying! Awww). I still feel weird going there, but it is fun. On one game someone got a bingo, and for some reason after that the caller tells us the next three numbers that would have come up next..if that person hadn't called bingo, I would have gotten it! (It was number 16 too!) Darn haha, maybe next time?? :P

It's supposed to be -29 on Friday and -32 on Saturday..looks like winter has caught up with us now D:

Day 347-351 )

Today's trivia: New Mexico's Department of Transportation added grooves to the section of Route 66 between Albuquerque and Tijeras that play music when you drive over them going the speed limit of 45 mph. The grooves work just like the rumble strips, which vibrate your car if you drift out of your lane. These particular strips are positioned to create different pitches when you drive over them, and if you do, you can clearly hear "American the Beautiful" play through the vibrations in your car's wheels (I want to try that!)

Yesterday I was at home when all of a sudden I heard screeching tires and then a HUGE bang..I went to the balcony and saw a couple cars and people, but there was a tree blocking most of my view. I figured I would go down and see if anyone needed help or something (even though other people were there), and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious. A bunch of the other residents from the complex were out watching..one saw me and was like "Marjorie [our landlady] just got in a car accident!" Nooo, not kind Marjorie! I walked over to the scene full of dread, but luckily no one was hurt, just shaken up..the same can't be said for her car though..her bumper was ripped almost all the way off, the hood was mashed up and fluid was leaking. What I think happened was Marjorie was driving past an intersection and the other person ran a stop sign, causing her to crash into them. Yikes! Everyone was remarkably calm about the situation. After a police officer arrived, most of the other people left..me and another resident stayed with her for support and help if she needed it. After the paperwork and stuff Marjorie hooked her arm around mine and I walked with her the short distance back to the complex (she left her phone there). She thanked us profusely for staying with her. I saw her today and she said she's still a little shaken up, but otherwise fine, and she thanked me again for helping her. That was definitely scary though..I couldn't believe how loud it was! I hope she can get another car soon..

Ryan bought a condo! He never seemed interested in moving out before, but lately he spends most of his time in his room, and probably just wants his own space (and a bigger kitchen, since he loves to bake). I wonder if he'll let us visit him lol

1. What’s on your toilet tank? An empty box of wipes haha..I guess I should throw it away now lol :P
2. What’s on the dashboard of your car? I don't have a car
3. What’s on top of your fridge? A fake cat looking down, a piggybank..that might be it
4. What’s on your front porch? I don't have a front porch
5. What’s on your bathroom sink? Toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc

I had to call the cops on my neighbor last night..they were having a big party and people were screaming and cursing and banging around. When I went on the balcony it reeked of alcohol and probably weed. At 11:30 there were still people coming over and she was yelling to other people on the street (they climbed over her balcony!). That was it, I had to call the police. After I buzzed the officer in I heard him knocking on her door..that was it, everybody got out of there as fast as they could haha. I wish I could hear what the officer said to her. It was amazingly quiet after that haha. I don't think she learned her lesson though, she was loud again this morning (when does she sleep?!). UGH. Marjorie was proud I was able to call the police and said she should be out by Monday unless they have to go to court. I hope she's out by Monday..we're both sick of dealing with her

FAIRBANKS — The pie that is the $363,627 Nenana Ice Classic jackpot is getting cut into smaller slices every day.

As of Monday morning, there were at least 24 tickets that had this year’s winning time — 3:48 p.m. Alaska Standard Time on April 25 — in Alaska’s richest guessing game, and there likely will be more. Workers still had thousands of tickets to sort through, Ice Classic manager Cherrie Forness said.

Wow, lots of good guessers haha. Kinda annoying having to share it with others I would think haha. Still better than nothing though :P

Marjorie said the person who lives below me will probably get evicted next week. She always has guys and drunks and who knows what over at her apartment. I tell her to be quiet and like 10 minutes later she's loud again. Yesterday she said she was sick and asked me for some wine. Ummm..I don't think that'll help lol. I feel kinda bad for her (especially since she's in a wheelchair) but she doesn't seem very considerate..

Day 25- Your Favorite Large Animal )

Today's trivia: The largest swimming pool in the world is at the Chilean resort of San Alfonso del Mar. It's 0.629 mi long, 115 ft deep, covers 20 acres and holds 66 million gallons of water. It uses a computer-controlled suction and filtration system to suck water in from the ocean at one end and pump it out at the other

Someone stole my bike! It was there Friday and when I came back yesterday it was gone and the lock was on the ground..someone had cut it. I told Marjorie and she said there's a camera outside that may show who it is..they just need a tech to come and read the camera. I also filed a police report. Booo. :( I hope it gets found..

Would you rather eat a newly born baby rodent or a small sack of crawling caterpillars? The caterpillars

Today's trivia: The country of Andorra has the highest life expectancy rate: the average is 83.5 years

Today I had my annual apartment inspection (they check to see if the fire alarms still work and stuff). Marjorie came when I was at work..when I came into the building Marjorie was there and she was like "I'm in love with your cat!" haha. She said Abby sat on her lap and purred. Awwwwe. Such a friendly kitty hehe. If you're not home when they enter your apartment they leave a sheet behind telling why they came..on mine Marjorie put "your cat is a winner!" I'm so proud and happy Abby is so friendly hehe *snuggles her* <3

Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die )

Would you rather always have a cat sitting on your head or always wear an orange traffic cone on your head and bike reflectors all over your clothes? Always have a cat on my head? Haha

Today's trivia: Acorns were used as a coffee substitute during the Civil War

This morning I was awoken by the fire alarm going off. I was like "uhh" and then grabbed Abby so we could go out but then it stopped. It lasted for at least a minute or two I think. I poked my head out the door and my neighbor did too..I told her "I guess it's ok?" and went back in. No fire trucks came either..I'm not sure what happened. Someone could have been cooking but this was at like 6:50 AM. Maybe Marjorie will know..

Only five more movies to guess..see if you can get them ;)

Would you rather always have to keep one hand touching another person or never be able to touch another human being again? Never be able to

Today's trivia: If a baseball sized piece of a supernova star were brought to earth, it would weigh more than the Empire State Building

Yesterday when I got to Southall (the apartment place) Marjorie showed me around..I saw the meeting area, kitchen, etc. Then she showed me my apartment. It's a rather nice size for one person..I think it's bigger than Dana's haha. We inspected it and made sure everything worked. It's on the second floor and it has a balcony that faces the sun (perfect for my solar telescope!). Then I signed the paperwork for the lease and stuff and brought some things into the apartment (an air mattress, etc)

Today mom got off work early to do stuff with me. We began the day with breakfast at Sourdough Sam's. As we crested the hill on Ballaine I saw this brownish hazy stuff in the air..mom said a chinook was coming (lots of chinooks this winter! Haha) so I'm guessing it was glacial silt from the rivers being blown around (I've seen it before when I was in the mountains during a chinook and the silt was being blown around). At Sam's I had a Mexican omlette..they put salsa on it which was REALLY good..like Texas good..wow. Then we went to GCI to make an appointment to get Internet/cable TV/a phone installed (yeah cable! Haha). They're gonna come on Friday. Then we went shopping around town for furniture and stuff for the apartment. I found a nice nightstand with drawers and a black chair and I got stuff like bath towels, a shower curtain, etc. We took that all to the apartment and set it up. I shall get pics when it's more set up..yayness haha

Would you rather try to take a banana from a giant monkey or try to take an egg from a mother goose while she's sitting on her nest? Hmm..the egg?

Today's trivia: Baby giraffes grow as much as one inch every two hours

I had the eligibility interview today..it went pretty well. I answered questions, signed things and gave Stacy the paperwork she needed. At the end she was pretty sure I'd get called for a moving in appointment (or whatever she called it haha). The person who will review my papers, hopefully call me in around a week and be my landlord is named...Marjorie Holt. I recognized her name cause I remember seeing it on the book request list at work! Stacy says she goes to the bookstore a lot. HOW weird is that?? Haha (for those on my friends list that don't know Margerie is the name of one of my favorite glaciers..spelled differently but pronounced the same) I was in the interview being like *smiles stupidly* haha. :P I have to read a whooole folder full of papers before the next interview too haha (mom and I were both like *gapes*). My rent for now would be $235!! (It'll go up after I get my PFD though) How sweet is that?

Would you rather chew a piece of toenail off a man's dirty foot or lick every inch of his unwashed armpit? EWW NEITHER *GAG*

Today's trivia: A bee has 5,000 nostrils. It can smell an apple tree two miles away
