OMG the weather is AMAZING outside (finally!!)..sunny with some clouds and a breeze, 70 degrees..perfect!! Those gloomy rainy days just felt so oppressive and heavy. It's supposed to stay this way till Thursday at least, then it's supposed to rain again this weekend..ugh. Though the fair starts on Friday, so that automatically means it's gonna rain :P

Today when I was sorting I found $152 in a book!! (How do you forget about that much money??) Krystin said I'm always finding money in books, which is kinda true haha. I've never found that much though! We put it in the register as a donation. Wow :P

Ugh, I've been sick the last two days. I probably caught it at work. I spent a lot of the day yesterday in bed. Though eventually I had to get out cause it makes me crazy being stuck inside. Mom came over and we found a couple geocaches and went out to dinner. I was wiped when I got home so I went to bed SUPER early..like 7 or even earlier. I still didn't feel super great today but I went to work for awhile anyway..I hated the thought of being stuck inside again! I've been taking lots of vitamin c and stuff, so I hope it goes away quickly..

Krystin's leaving (*tear*) and going back to school so the bookstore has two positions open for bookstore manager..so I applied. I may not know how to do everything, but like Nina and mom said, I've already overcome so much (like being terrified of the cash register but loving it now)..I could probably learn it easily. Plus finally being a true paid employee of the bookstore? Heck yeah! We'll see what happens..

Krystin and I are doing a photo challenge on Facebook..yesterday's subject was the sunset. Well mom and I were at this meeting with the guy who publishes all the Alaska geocaches and has hidden a lot around Fairbanks (he lives in Anchorage though..it was nice to finally meet him!). He talked about his job and the rules of hiding a cache. It was like 9:30 when we left, which was perfect cause the sun was just setting! Mom had the great idea to take the pic from the bridge..it was such a nice sunset! It must have known about the contest. ;) Haha. We also found a cache on the bridge haha

Today's trivia: The blonde The Mangalitsa pig has thick fleece like a sheep (aww..I just Googled that..weird but kinda cute haha)

The spelling bee last night was pretty fun. My parents, Bjorn and Kathy all came to cheer me on. We were the third team to spell..I think our first word was "recidivist" (I don't have the list with me). The sentence they used was "Justin Bieber is a recidivist and should be deported." LOL. It was kinda annoying seeing the teams misspell or throw out easy words ("Farenhight"?!? Really??). I guess they didn't practice. It's always nerve wracking being the one to spell..I make sure to spell super slow so I don't mess up (some people spelled fast! D: That freaks me out haha). We also had words like "hellebore" and "physiotherapist" (perfect for Denise, since she works for a chiropractor haha). One team got bivouac! I was so jealous, I wanted a mountaineering word haha! The team numbers kept getting lower..then there were three left, including us. That team got their word wrong, which left only two left, us and a rotary team!! OMG I was shaking like crazy haha. To win you have to spell two words in a row right..we got our word wrong, so it passed to the rotary team (conveniently they were located right below us haha). They got both their words right and won (the winning word was wharfinger). OMG we were SO happy to get second place though!! Mike said that's the best the LCA has ever done! My team is awesome, we all have different areas we're knowledgeable about (Denise is good with Middle Eastern words since she used to live there, Jackie has been involved with spelling bees a long time so she knows the words well, I'm good with Latin..). It definitely worked well for us! We got a plaque and $15 gift certificates to the bookstore. In all we raised over 23,000!!! A very successful night :) (I also finally met Layla ([livejournal.com profile] laylalawlor), who came too! Yay, I love meeting LJ friends hehe)

Today at work I finally got to do something I'd been wanting to do for a long time: rough sorting. Becky usually does it but she was sick today and it seems she has less time to do it lately so I decided to try it (plus the boxes are stacked almost to the ceiling haha. Krystin knows how so she showed me how to do it). When you rough sort, you sort out the trashy/water damaged books and the recycle books (we send those around town) and possible store books (Becky or Krystin goes through them and makes the final decision of where to put them). As with practically everything else at the bookstore, it was super fun! It's kinda like Christmas opening the boxes haha..you'll never know what you'll find! My hands felt super dirty though..ew. Maybe I should wear gloves next time. Hopefully I can do it again!

Today was the Golden Days Parade downtown. The Literacy Council starts it by having a one mile race (they call it "the Golden Mile"). Krystin asked if I wanted to help hold the banner and I said sure. She got me an "olden days" dress to wear haha. I had to wear long underwear cause it was rainy, windy and FREEZING. I was fine walking, but it was so cold just standing around. People cheered for us hehe. They had a timer at the end and we walked the mile in 16 minutes and 45 seconds..cool. After we finished mom and I decided to watch the parade. Even though I've lived here five years it was my first time seeing it! First there were old cars and then..nothing. It took a really long time for the other floats to get where we were! Mom was about to give up cause it was so cold haha (good thing we had a blanket to wrap up in :P). Finally the other floats got there. It was cool..I hadn't been to a parade in years! I just wish it wasn't so cold and windy! There were a lots of floats it seemed like..these people walked by and was like "the parade is halfway done!" WHAT. We were too cold to stand outside anymore and watched the rest from the car. It should not be this cold in July. D: The festival and rubber ducky race is also happening today but I'm done being cold haha

Aww, surprise birthday cake! I was at the register and Krystin was like "I'll take over" and told my coworker Shirley "she's ready!" I was like "huh?? Ready for what?" and I walked over and she showed me the cake she got me from Wal-Mart! Awwww! She wanted to give it to me on Friday but I had left early and Shirley wasn't there yesterday. I was SO surprised haha..that was SO nice of her!! (Shirley said she wished she had a picture of my reaction haha) The cake looked (and tasted) perfect to me. :D It's so pretty!! I definitely gave her a big hug..that's one of the nicest things someone's done for me! Awww <3
