1. What should people be careful about in your neighborhood? Inebriated people
2. What’s a common pitfall for beginners in your field of work (or your most recent field of work)? Buying too many books, though I still do that, even after 16 years LOL

4. Which is more stressful: the feeling your car is about to break down, or the feeling your computer is about to break down? I don't have a car, so computer

Happy Solstice! Dad was like "that's it, it's going to snow tomorrow" LOL. Don't rush it!!

Like dad, who this morning said "happy solstice! It's all downhill from here, it'll be snowing by Friday," which definitely made me laugh. :P Summer always goes by too fast!

They had Dippin Dots at the Midnight Sun Festival on Saturday, which I'd never seen there before! Maybe now I'll get them twice a year if they come to the fair too!

Since I have some type of devices holding my eyelids up (I have ptosis), they automatically open when I go to sleep, so a lot of the time I'll dream about what I'm "seeing" when sleeping..like yesterday I dreamed that a chinchilla was running across the top of my bed haha. I bet not a lot of people have that going on when they sleep LOL

Happy 33rd birthday to me!! (I've been dying to take this pic for months LOL.) A couple people told me that's a cool number to be lol, and mom was 33 (almost 34) when she gave birth to me..wow. O_o Denise got me like ten cookies, and said she owed me five smoothies!! Wow haha. Ryan and Jo have friends visiting and went to Denali today, and dad was busy in the yard, so it was just mom and I at dinner tonight, but they all chipped in and bought a new chain for my opal necklace, because the other chain kept breaking. I definitely felt naked without it haha. We all might celebrate more this weekend though. The restaurant I go to every year for my birthday was doing a buffet this year for some reason..it wasn't horrible, but I wasn't expecting it lol. After dinner I went to Barnes and Noble, even though it was like 30 minutes until they closed haha, but I still found a couple books. :P Not a super eventful day, but it was still nice :)

This summer has been weird so far..it's been super windy for days, and haven't had our usual afternoon storms. I miss them!

Day 170-171 )
glacier_kitty: (Default)
I am now back home! The last few days of the vacation were busy, but so much fun. On Friday before the game we drove up to the college (UC Irvine) to scope it out so we knew what we were doing before the game lol (it wasn't far from the hotel, maybe 10-15 minutes away). We bought tickets and found a couple geocaches and then checked out nearby Fashion Island, an indoor/outdoor mall/plaza type thing.it was huge! Most of the clothing stores were nothing I'd like, and amazingly, there was a Barnes and Noble there! I've never seen one in a mall before! I probably spent waaay too much time there, at least two hours LOL..oops. :P I was happy to see a lot of people shopping there <3

After that we relaxed at the hotel and then went back to UC Irvine for the game (and found a couple more caches lol). It was really surreal actually being there! I kept looking for Debbie (Scott's sister), and finally spotted her on the opposite side from us (I sent her a message saying I was coming too). The area was super loud, but it was SO MUCH FUN!! They did really, really well, and it was awesome seeing Scott's famous "Stadick Scream" in person haha. In the second set, they completely annihilated the other team..one player had 3 service aces in a row, and Scott had around 3 blocks as well. They won that set 25-12! (The team they played somehow won one set over Hawaii the week before..no idea how, considering how they played this night..Hawaii is REALLY good.) Before the third set started we went over to where Debbie and her three-year-old daughter Selah were sitting..she was COMPLETELY shocked when she saw us..she thought I was joking when I said I was coming to the game!! We haven't been a huge part of their lives (we first met in 2003), so I thought she'd be like "ehh" about a distant cousin (third cousin, according to my family tree lol) coming to visit, but no, she was very happy to see us! She was sitting in the first row behind where the team hangs out when they're not playing at the moment, and Scott spotted us and waved! (Yay, he remembered us lol.) more under here! )

What a great trip! Exhausting, but fun lol. We had a big sale at work on Saturday, so there will probably be a lot of shelving to do :P

I have just now heard of the fire at Notre Dame at Paris, and now I want to cry. :( That is so sad!! My heart broke when I saw the video of the spire falling..omg :(

Wowww..today was absolutely gorgeous. It was sunny and actually got into the 70s again!! I had a GORGEOUS view of the mountains this morning. We had to sit by the river of course haha..gotta soak up the heat before winter. :P Fairbanks has some of the best summer weather I've seen..

The glacier hike is a go. :D Yay!

Today's trivia: Talking with your mouth full expels taste molecules and diminishes the taste of food
glacier_kitty: (Default)
This summer is the COMPLETE opposite of last summer..warm (though we did have some warm days last summer like on the solstice and the 4th of July), dry, hardly any storms and rain, huge fires..woww. Even if the Wood River fire advances toward Fairbanks we have the Tanana River as a natural barrier and it could be hard for the fire to get over it cause it's so wide and well..it's wet haha. Maybe this'll mean the winter will be less cold too?

Woww..the record temp for today is 99. That's when you go swim in the river haha

Today's trivia: The word ampersand is a corruption of "and per say and." "&" used to be recited in the alphabet in school. The children slurred "and per say and" into "ampersand"

I had another counseling appointment today..we went and sat by the river and talked (her office is rather close to it). It was sooooo nice and warm omg. There were a ton of people on the river too haha. Wow..this summer is crazy beautiful so far *drools* (making up for last summer? Haha)

I finally used my amazon gift card haha..I got more books in the series I'm reading by Terry Goodkind and "Elements Part 1" and "Polaris" by Stratovarius

Yesterday we went to the festival..we met this guy named Erik who has autism and down's syndrome that's a published artist. He put his arms around me and rested his head against mine. Awwww. We got food and went to this theater to see how ice sculptures are made (mom thought it was the place where you experience -40 but that's at another place). We looked around more and went down to the river. I decided I wanted to go swimming! It was colddd so i just waded in it. This guy on the bridge yelled to me "watch out for the leeches!" Suuuure. :P There was a bunch of other people wading/swimming/boating on the river. Then we went over the bridge..it was sooo nice (the weather). We went over to the National Weather Service booth..mom told the guy there I wanted to be a meteorologist..he said you need 3-4 calculus classes, chemistry, etc! OMGGG. We looked around more and then went home

Summer!

Well, we only get 1 full month of summer (our school's fault), but I'll enjoy it anyway! Next week I have fencing camp and sometime during the summer we might go to Kansas and see my grandma. I love seeing her. In the next yard there's a huge sycamore tree that smells so good! When the person wasn't home we actually went in their yard and got leaves! In 1999 when I was there I learned it was a sycamore and I got a leaf and put it in a bag. I still have it.

I have this thing where, if I hear or see a certain thing, it reminds me of something. Some Ex.

*Evancesence. I listened to them so many times in Mammoth, CA it reminds me of there.
*"Agony is my Name"-Rhapsody. I was watching I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and listening to the song, and I picture the movie while listening to it.
*"Steelgods of the last Apcalypse"-Rhapsody. There's this one part that reminds me of the music from Titanic.
*"Battlefield"-BG. Reminds me of the guy who showed me this song. His name was ShallHonorArise. "Through violence and horror shall honor arise."
*"Remember Yesterday," (HF) "Nightfall," (BG) and "Knightrider of Doom" (R) all remind me of Amanda (Minuetcat) cause she really likes 'em.

I would count down the days of summer, but I don't know when school gets back in.
