# 2018

"Content workshop"?? Ok then LOL

Last night we met up with Ryan and Jo at the university and looked around at the insanely crowded museum before watching the fireworks. I haven't always been impressed by the university's fireworks, but this year's were awesome..I hadn't seen some of the fireworks they used before. It would be interesting to learn how fireworks work and how they got them to rain down shininess LOL (really, some of them went off and these shiny strands slowly floated to the ground lol). It was around 30 degrees..nice to not be freezing when watching them. :P (One year it was TOO warm and the smoke from the previous fireworks hid the ones they set off after..sad!) Ryan and Jo are coming over for dinner tonight too (Jo is from Puerto Rico, so I don't think any of his family is up here). I wonder how fast 2019 will go by :P

I think I found a fun new 365 day challenge to try..a song challenge! It looked pretty fun anyway lol

Happy New Year! Yesterday mom and I saw The Last Jedi with Yanina..I HATED what they did to Luke's character (even Mark Hamill didn't like it!), but I loved the crystal fox creatures! I could tell that scene was filmed somewhere awesomely icy (*swoons*), and was happy to learn it was filmed in Iceland lol. We were just in time to watch the fireworks from the university after the movie was over..nice! It was +11, and there was a nice bonfire, so it wasn't too bad

some pics! )

Instead of reading as many books as possible this year, I think I'm going to try this reading challenge (not necessarily in order lol). Looks like fun anyway :P

an awesome 365 day meme one of my lj friends made! )

Last night the university museum had free admission, so my parents and I hung out there for awhile till the fireworks started. It was SO warm!! It must have been in the upper 20s or low 30s. Unfortunately the warmth and humidity meant it was foggy, and when the fireworks went off they made a cloud of their own, and a lot of the fireworks were hidden behind that cloud..boo (I prefer the ones in Goldstream, but I was too tired last week after geocaching). Thenn we went home, made popcorn, watched TV and waited for midnight. I wonder how fast 2015 will go by..

Day 21: What kind of tree you have: fake or real? If real, what type? )

Happy 2014! Yesterday mom and I saw the New Year's fireworks in Goldstream. They're 100 times better than the university's haha (someone else watching the show said the same thing too). Last year my camera died after like a minute, but this time I brought an extra battery and my phone haha. My hands were soooo cold, but I got epic shots! (There was also a guy at the bonfire who was smoking weed and kept asking mom if she wanted to try his whiskey..wtf lol)

here they are! )

Yesterday we went to watch the fireworks at the university. For once it wasn't super cold (it was in the teens or 20s!) so we had to take advantage of that haha. We parked at the place where you can get water..which turned out great cause there was a bonfire! That was SO nice haha. We Alaskans do it right. ;) The fireworks were alright..the university's have never been that great to me. Then we went home and had a little time before the fireworks show in Goldstream by Ivory Jack's. There was a bonfire there too but it looked crowded and the place we were at was perfect anyway. OMG..their fireworks show was AWESOME!!! 29765869 times better than the university ever does. It's probably the best fireworks show I've ever seen. It was cool listening to it echo across the hills haha. Too bad the battery in my camera died..I shouldn't have wasted my pics on the university's fireworks. I'll have to see if anyone posted a video. I'll post my pics tomorrow or later in the week (apparently you can't charge the battery unless you choose that option on the set up menu. Wth..I've never had to do that with my other cameras!). At home we watched the ball drop in Times Square..yay! I hope 2013 is good!

I'm gonna post all the books I read in 2012! I'm gonna keep posting them here cause it's fun and useful and is a good motivator to read haha. I'm gonna put what I rated them on Goodreads here too

books! )

Yesterday we had Pat over at mom's house (she would have been alone on New Years if we hadn't). Before dinner we watched Wall-e..she thought it was cute hehe. We had a post roast for dinner..Pat loved it haha. Mom made a fire in the woodstove and we sat by that for awhile..then dad set off the rest of the fireworks. Yaay haha. Then it was time to go..I think Pat really appreciated being able to come over

One of the people in the apartment building died in the past few days. I had just talked to her the day before she went into the hospital and she seemed fine. Then she went to the hospital and they said they didn't think she was going to live..then she went into a coma and passed away. Apparently she had cancer. That's just..wow

Would you rather have to change your little brother's diapers or clean your grandmother's false teeth? Clean the false teeth

Today's trivia: James Madison, 5 feet, 4 inches tall, was the shortest US president

Yesterday we ate dinner at Ivory Jacks (who wants to cook on New Years Eve? Haha) and earlier in the meal this group came in..one was a guy who had THE most annoying laugh ever. And it was LOUD and often. Apparently he didn't care about the other people eating. Ughh. After eating we went back home and walked down the hill to see the fireworks from the university. We couldn't see some since a hill was in the way..it wasn't too exciting. Dad had bought some fireworks so after that we set off our own. It was awesomee haha. We saved some to do tonight too (though I'm going back to my apartment..aw). Of course we watched the ball drop..and now it's 2011! Wow haha

next meme: state challenge! )

The sun comes up today at 10:59 (pretty soon!) and goes down at 2:40. Then it'll start getting light later each day! *phew* Yesterday there were fireworks to celebrate the solstice

Margerie Glacier is taller than the Statue of Liberty..it's 350 feet and the statue is 307 feet. Haha woww (go Margerie! :D)

Eee!

Today's stupidest quote: A holy symbol like Frosty the Snowman should not be taken away from Christmas. Well, maybe that is a bad example (FOX and Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade, discussing "killing Christmas")
