Today was my hysterectomy pre-op, basically my gynecologist (Jennifer) telling me what to expect. It's ~officially~ called a "robotic total laparoscopic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy." I'll get my uterus, tubes and cervix removed (I'll never need a pap smear, yay!), but I'll keep my ovaries and have normal menopause when I get older. Jennifer said it'll probably take a couple hours..she said my fibroid looks like a Mickey Mouse ear next to my uterus LOL. She'll take a picture of it to show me when I wake up..way cool :P (and probably horrifying LOL). Hopefully it'll all go well and the recovery won't be too horrible..it'll be nice to not have periods anymore :P

This time of year it's hard because I go to work in the dark and go home in the dark, so my mood can dip somewhat..my appointment was when it was light, instant mood booster!! Good thing the light starts coming back after today lol

For whatever reason, I'm ridiculously happy it's snowing right now lol (I couldn't wait to take pics after I got off work haha. I really like this one!). It's peaceful and beautiful and magical! I probably looked ridiculous staring at the sky and smiling, but I don't care LOL. I totally understand when someone told me once they moved here from Hawaii because they missed the snow..I'll definitely take this over 100 degree weather!! (I think I've become Full Alaskan now haha!)

Paulette stopped in today and told us the story of her husband Marc's passing..she was so grateful for her "work family's" support. It was good to see her and give her a hug. Marc's funeral is tomorrow..I've only been to one funeral in my entire life..it'll be so sad, but Paulette needs all the support she can get <3

Ewww it's only 4 PM and it's already getting dark :(

Lizzy, my DVR counselor, called to tell me I have been working for 90 days (!) and she was gonna close my file (I guess the 90 days is to see if you like the job and stuff). I can always go back and reopen the file and she said I can still call her if I have questions. Cool! Becky said I "graduated" when I told her haha. Now I can go over to Nina's house and watch Game of Thrones with her since she's not my job coach anymore haha. That'll be fun :D

Ughh it's already getting dark..the sun will set soon, at 3:55. Mom and I like to geocache after I get off work..it'll be harder now :( (we've cached in the dark before, it's not as fun though)

Yay, the light will come back after this! It hasn't really effected me that badly though..I blame Zoloft and Candy Crush haha. Zoloft is the best anti-depressant I've taken. Paxil just made me numb and super tired and Wellbutrin was a disaster (why would my doctor prescribe a medicine that had anxiety as a side effect when I already have anxiety??). On Zoloft I have been pretty happy, and I still feel bad emotions, though it doesn't feel like a black hole haha. I'm so thankful Zoloft works. :D I hope it keeps working haha

FAIRBANKS — The season’s first cold snap is expected to come to a dramatic end Sunday when the temperature could climb above zero at the airport for the first time in almost a month.

Even better, the National Weather Service said Fairbanks should see its first significant snowfall in a month.

“It’s going to be pretty chilly again Saturday; the real regime change begins on Sunday,” said meteorologist Dan Hancock with the National Weather Service in Fairbanks. “There will be some cloud cover coming in Saturday night, which should moderate things.”

The weather service is calling for high temperatures between 5 degrees above zero and 5 degrees below zero on Sunday, with lows around 15 below. If that happens, it would mark the first time in 15 days — counting today — that the temperature at Fairbanks International Airport has climbed above 10 below.

Finally!! Mom and I looked at weather charts (I love those haha. /nerd. She has them on her iPad) and it showed a strong low in the Gulf that's gonna bring a Chinook to us. Good..we deserve one haha. I'll definitely take 5 over -35 :P

Wow..it's almost 11 and the sun has barely come up yet. So weird..

Now is the hardest part of winter cause the darkness is getting really long now. Today the sun rose at 10:35 and set at 2:49. It's bad when it's cloudy too (like today) cause it makes it look like perpetual twilight haha. Oh well..just a couple more weeks and it'll start getting lighter again

There's supposed to be a lunar eclipse on the West Coast on Saturday at dawn. I wonder what time it would be here..

Today has been an EPIC sale day at the bookstore. When it was my turn at the register after lunch there was just one customer after another haha. This one lady bought a lot of books..one of her stacks was $70 something..which then went to $60 something since we give a 15% discount for totals $65 and over. Her other stack was $20 something I think. She always buys a bunch when she comes in haha. Before I left Paulette checked the register to see how much we made so far (I was curious haha) and it was somewhere around $316!! We love over $300 days. :D We have a nice new entryway and have done a lot of changes so maybe that helps. I'll be excited to see the total amount from today tomorrow haha

I did see the eclipse last night..I could watch it from my balcony and my room! So I saw as the moon went into the earth's shadow and turned an eerie red. :D Mom called and said they watched from the telescope..jealouss haha. They probably had a better view than me..no streetlights shining in their faces. :P I even took pics! Yaaay (I wonder if Brian Cox watched it? Haha)

Yay solstice..no more plunging into darkness! Tomorrow will be 9 seconds longer..YEAH! Haha

A major chinook is here..it's supposed to be 35-40 on Tuesday with rain (it could rain on Monday too). I've seen it in the 40s in the winter but I've never seen it rain in the winter here haha. That could be interesting :P

Now it's the time of year where it's easy to sleep in till 11 or almost noon (the sun rose today at 9:48 AM and it'll set at 3:25 PM. I was ready to go to bed at 4:30 last night haha. Dang winter :P

I've noticed it's easier to deal with the winter darkness in my apartment..I'm facing away from the window and I watch TV at night so I'm distracted. The streetlights probably help too. Hopefully I won't have winter depression this year

Would you rather never bathe or bathe only in the nearest river? OMG..bathing in the Chena River would be SO COLD. I tried swimming in it in the summer and it was freezing haha. But I don't want to not bathe..maybe they could like have a heating area on the river haha

Movies watched this week: Son of Rambow

The sun comes up now at 10:15 AM and goes down at 3:03 PM. So when I get up for work around 9 it's not even light yet. :P Also around here it gets warmer when the sun goes down haha. Like the other day it was -1 or something and when I checked later that night it was like 2 or something. Haha oook Alaska :P

I actually went shopping on Black Friday *gasp* haha. I got underwear and PJs, a picture of a glacier, conditioner, etc. I went to Gottschalks (Fairbanks version of "high end way too expensive" store) and spent EIGHTY dollars on the few pairs of underwear and one pair of PJs..and they were ON SALE. Jeeeez haha
