When I went to Florida in 2004 (I was obsessed with my cape, I wore it EVERYWHERE haha)

the topics )

In the past 24 hours we've had it be hot, 30 MPH winds that knocked out power (it's usually not windy here, unless we're having a Chinook or something), heavy smoke from the fires west of here, made worse by the rain we've been having today. It's a LOT cooler today, which is nice. It felt like a sauna at work though..I was sweating so much it was dripping off my glasses!! GROSS haha! Hopefully it'll be cooler in there tomorrow (it usually takes a couple days since we have weird circulation lol). The weather here is always interesting :P

Poor Denise..today's her birthday, but she had to put one of her cats to sleep. :( :( It's always so hard losing a pet..

You Should Learn Norwegian

You're the type of person who would like to travel to the far corners of the earth. And who knows, you may just end up staying in one.
You are drawn to quiet countries with a high standard of living, pristine nature, and maybe even some good metal music. Norway fits the bill for you.

And if you want to travel to other parts of Scandinavia, Norwegian makes picking up Swedish and Danish a cinch.
You have the spirit of an adventurer, even if you still crave a few modern comforts. You'll do well in the land of the vikings!

Metal music and vikings, heck yeah :D

Yesterday and today I came across books that literally smelled like a sewer..so gross D:

Today after work mom and I found some geocaches (well I found them..mom already had haha), went to dinner and then saw Catching Fire! It was pretty good!! It seemed pretty close to the book, at least from what I can remember. The Rue scenes were so sad. :( Jennifer Lawrence is such a great actress and like I said when I saw The Hunger Games, makes a perfect Katniss. I read they are gonna split Mockingjay into two movies. That book was SUPER depressing and my least favorite of the three..I'll still see it though. :P Mom and I want to do more stuff like this on Fridays (it's kinda hard on Saturday when I'm all lazy and comfy haha). It's nice mother-daughter time :D

Today when sorting I found someone's glasses, earbuds and food in a box (it looked like pieces of pizza). Ewww D:

Day 19: Time )

Today mom and I went into London. We took the train there since it's near grandma's house. Omg so many people. D: They always seem to be in a hurry and bumping into you too. London also smells pretty bad..especially after it rained..eww. I think I'm spoiled by living in Alaska where there's not many people and the air smells fresh. It's so exhausting always dodging people haha. I guess after Alaska I'm more impressed by amazing nature and mountains than hectic cities. Oh well, enough complaining. :P The train let us off near the Thames River and Big Ben and stuff..we had breakfast and walked around by the river. I think we went to the British Museum after that (we took the subway..it still smelled just like I remembered it :P). It was raining, so it was a good time to go to the museum. There were lots of Roman, Greek, Assyrian, Egyptian, etc artifacts (like the Rosetta Stone). It's a nice museum. I don't understand how people walk around London and museums with high heels and other uncomfortable looking shoes. Jeez..my feet hurt just wearing regular shoes. After we were done in the museum we sat outside to figure out what to do next..this pigeon hopped up on the bench next to mom and mom started talking to it and the pigeon was tilting its head like it was listening..then it hopped onto mom's lap!! It fell off but it hopped on her lap again..it kept doing that several times! (It pecked at mom's hand like it was food haha) It was SO funny haha..I think it liked her. ;) I was getting pretty hungry so we walked back to the subway station..but on the way I came across this super awesome antiquarian bookstore! They had a whole bunch of old books in there..I even saw a couple from the 1700s!! They were in great condition for being so old! One was a dictionary..so interesting. I saw one called The White Tower..it stood out to me for some reason. I was thinking of the Tower of London since it there's a building there called the White Tower..but it was actually a mountaineering book!! So awesome! I also found these..drawings or prints or something of places in Switzerland..a couple were of a glacier! I definitely had to buy those and the book haha. What an awesome place to find! There were tons of bookstores in London haha..we went to another used bookstore, but the other one was cooler. I was sooo hungry by now..we took the subway near where Hard Rock Cafe was (for some reason this time we had trouble finding things and kept going the wrong way :P) and walked to the restaurant (it's by Green Park and Hyde Park..after the city craziness, it sounded very appealing to go to the park haha..maybe next time). There was a 45 minute wait (SO. HUNGRY.) so we browsed the store and I got a shirt and pin. Eventually it was our turn (yay!) and ate dinner. The music was SUPER loud..eesh. After that we walked down the street to check out Piccadilly Circus ("circus" meaning "circle"..Piccadilly is an intersection of streets). The neon signs looked cool in the dark. After that I was so done haha..we took the subway back to the train station and took the train back to grandma's house. OMG..West Byfleet was SO quiet and seemed deserted compared to London haha! It's nice to relax now! I need to take a shower, I feel and smell so gross. :P I think I'll post my pics tomorrow..

We listen to Pandora at work and today this song came on. I thought it was interesting and quite liked it, so I looked to see what it was. It's called "Mountain Sound" by Of Monsters and Men..they're from Iceland!! So cool haha. I'll have to see what their other songs sound like..maybe that's what I'll use my iTunes gift card on. I kinda feel like a hipster listening to it, but whatever :P

Ew, I hate when people smoke and it comes through my windows. Blech

Omg this song..I think it's impossible to listen to Misty Mountains just once..it still gives me chills! It's so amazing <3 (I wish it was longer though!)

I've been soo stressed lately..the AmeriCorps term ending in April, the class yesterday, annoying stuff online, the weather, etc. Last night it all built up and I just couldn't handle it..I went to bed at 9:30 cause I just didn't want to be awake anymore. I threw my clothes on the floor, didn't brush my teeth..just managed to close the blinds, take melatonin and turn on my electric blanket. You know I'm upset when I don't read before bed. I didn't really feel better when I woke up this morning either..I was SO tense and needed to talk to someone. Eventually I called mom at work and talked to her and just started crying. Ugh..I hate crying at work haha. Luckily the heater fan was on which is pretty loud (seriously, I feel deaf cause someone can be talking to me in a normal voice and I'm like "huh??" haha). I asked her if she could get off work and go to lunch with me and she did. I also called Nina and canceled the class today cause I just couldn't do it. She understood and said I should see my counselor again..could be a good idea. It definitely helped being with mom. That and crying made me feel better. My mom is awesome haha. I hate being stressed..

Eww..when I get to work after walking outside I smell like smoke and ice fog. Grosss..

This morning I was walking to work and I was almost there when I see these three people..one was very obviously drunk. They see me and ask for 50 cents for the bus. I said no I didn't have any even though I do..I don't trust random people from the street..what's if they wanted more alcohol or something? The drunk lady kept trying to get in my face (I could smell the alcohol on her..eww) and was babbling that the other people were dumb and not to listen to them. Right..they're not staggering around drunk shouting obscenities like you were. The other two people weren't even paying attention to us. I told her to go home and get some rest and she said she didn't have a home and lived on the streets. I told her to go to a shelter and she was like "oh." I told her I had to go to work and got the heck away from her haha. Ew..I hope she found a shelter though

Today the Literacy Council hosted the annual Biz Bee (a spelling bee) at a hotel downtown. It's a fundraiser and other places like the library, the hospital, etc participate. My job was to take pictures. There were a lot of crazy words..I was surprised people got the ones they did..I never even would have spelled it like that. We got out during the second half..oh well. :P The last two teams battled it out for awhile..the winner was this computer group. After it was over I got up and suddenly this creepy guy came up to me and I could see he was definitely drunk. I moved back and he kept moving towards me like he was gonna grab on to me or something. I was like "oook I'm leaving now" (I've become extra cautious since that creepy guy in the bookstore harassed me) and got away quickly and told Hannah. The guy came over to us and Hannah started walking him out and then he tried to come to me again! Hannah got in front of me to block him and escorted him out (he was like stumbling he was so drunk). *phew* Thank you Hannah haha. Eww creepy. We managed to raise $20,000 something!! Woo! I shall post my pics tomorrow

Would you rather swim across a river that is filled with crocodiles or spend the night on an island where man eating tigers live? The island..I could find shelter somewhere
