Day 3: Post a picture of you with an animal )

Today's trivia: During World War II, the Nazi army allowed the British government to send games, among other things, to their POW soldiers. With the cooperation of the game's publisher, the Brits hid real money within a stack of Monopoly money as well as compasses, metal files and a folded silk map (because silk would not disintegrate like paper). The British soldiers were able to use these supplies to flee the POW camp

$1,884. That's the amount of this year's Permanent Fund dividend as announced by Gov. Sean Parnell in downtown Anchorage Wednesday morning.

"I'm frankly grateful for the Permanent Fund dividend at whatever amount, and I know Alaskans are too, as they save it or spend it for their own needs," Parnell said.

The governor made the announcement in a small conference room at the Atwood building in front of a crowd of dozens of media and about a hundred state employees.

The 2014 dividend will be the third-largest check issued since the yearly distributions to Alaska residents began in 1982. The Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend Division said checks and direct deposits will go out on Oct. 2.

$1,884?!? OMG. Last year the PFD was only $900! That is AWESOME. I'll feel rich haha

I am home! Wow, yesterday was a lot of flying. D: Good thing there were only three, I don't think I could have handled another flight haha. On the third flight I had two empty seats next to me! I was able to lay down and actually sleep..amazing. It was nice to go home and see the kitties hehe. Cheetah was so happy to sleep with me again (I'm her favorite person for some reason haha). I bet Abby will be all over me when I go back to my apartment (she has issues being lovey in front of other cats :P). I am still pretty tired today. It's definitely fall in Alaska now..I guess there will be snow soon :(

I got my PFD! For new people, that's the Permanent Fund Dividend..all Alaskans who qualify get one. It's money from our oil wealth..it's awesome haha. It was $900 this year

Today started the glaciers part of my class. The professor said she was originally from Germany and Sweden! Coool haha. Of course I told her about my passion for glaciers (Omg I'm talking to a real life glaciologist *faints*). Today we basically talked about what a glacier is and different types of glaciers. She actually goes through everything really fast..she'll show a picture and like 2 seconds later change to the next slide. My note taker said she had trouble keeping up haha. Good thing I already knew most everything she talked about. ;) She showed pics of Malaspina and Kennicott glaciers and asked if anyone had seen them..I was so excited saying that I had haha. The professor better get used to that ;)

After class I had to go to the dentist..I was REALLY dreading it but it wasn't bad at all. The hygienist was so nice and easygoing! She cleaned my teeth (they're so smooooth now..even after eating dinner) and found no cavities! Yaaay. After the appointment I was soooo relieved..I was bouncing with happiness haha. My face/mouth hurts now though..ow

The PFDs came through today. *feels rich* Haha

Today in lab the TA passed out our essay prompt for the earthquakes part of the class (there's an essay for all three subjects). I was kinda dreading it when I read it before on the syllabus but when I read over it it actually looks pretty fun! We choose two major earthquakes from the list (1964 Alaska, 2011 Japan, etc) and talk about where it happened, the plate boundary it was on, damage, etc. Sounds cool to me haha. I'm definitely doing the Alaska earthquake

The PFD was announced yesterday..it's $878 this year. Seems low, but I'm not gonna complain about free money :P

28. Sorrow )

Would you rather date someone who talks too loudly or someone who looks like he or she is constantly staring? Staring
