On Friday, we did go to see the ice sculptures..they're pretty cool, but standing around in the cold takes the fun out of it lol. On Saturday we went to the Museum of the North..cool as well, but that tired me out too..long covid/depression has made me lame. :P Cindy and Dean wanted to hike at Creamer's Field after that, but I went back home since I was tired. After that we had dinner and played Betrayal at House on the Hill (Jo won lol)

Yesterday we hiked up to Castner Glacier! (Along with everyone else in the Interior lol, so many people!) I can't believe I've lived here 15 years and had never been there haha (though it may not have been popular years ago, but it definitely is now). It's only a couple hours from Fairbanks! It was windy, but SUCH a gorgeous day!! Its biggest attraction is its ice cave, though part of it collapsed last summer. Good thing it's an easy hike, I'm SO out of shape lol. The ice cave was still really cool though, and went a long way under the glacier (one guy said he followed it for an hour, and found flowing water! We didn't have any flashlights though). Glacial ice is so cool to look at. There was a steep slope up the glacier me and Cindy and Dean adventured up to, which was exhausting, but satisfying. :P After hanging around the glacier awhile we drove home (Ryan had dinner waiting for us!). That was one of the funnest days I've had in a long time..I definitely needed that positivity. The total hike was 2.6 miles I think..nice! After dinner we played TWO rounds of Catan! Dean loves that game haha. It was really nice to finally go to bed :P

Today is Cindy and Dean's last day here, awww. :( We definitely had a good time though!

lots of pics! )

18 – Quilting Day: The oldest known quilting dates from 3400 BC! Has anyone ever made you a quilt or have you made your own? Have you ever bought a hand-made quilt? Mom has made me a couple quilts. Yeah, at least I think it was lol

19 – International Read To Me Day: created to boost literacy this day isn’t just for children. When was the last time you read out loud to someone? What was it you read? Did someone read aloud to you when you were a child? Some couples read to each other – if you have a significant other, is this something you do? Probably recently. Yeah, mom loved reading to Ryan and I when we were young

20 – International Day of Happiness: this was created by the United Nations to spread the idea that happitalism rather than capitalism should be spread around the world. Is happiness a choice? What makes you happy? What little thing can you do to make someone else happy? Did anything occur this month that made you particularly happy? It's complicated..with depression it's really hard. Cats, glaciers, books, etc. Compliment them, be kind, etc. Castner Glacier!

Today there was an owl showing at the visitor's center..there were 3 owls, crafts for kids and a presentation about different kind of owls in Alaska. Owls are so interesting to watch..how their pupils dilate dramatically and stuff. While there I finally met Susan ([livejournal.com profile] words_spoken)! Yayy hehe..she's so nice and seems like a fun person. It was nice to finally meet her haha. After that mom and I went to the ice park to see the ice sculptures. Usually I don't like to go cause it's so cold but it was nice today. That's also a bad thing though since they get melty and things fall off the sculptures. It's amazing what people can carve out of ice. Pics tomorrow!

Yesterday mom, dad and I went to the Ice Park..every year Fairbanks hosts the Ice Art Championships and the public can go see everyone's sculptures. The sculptures are cool but it's always too cold when I go for me to enjoy it too much. Hard to take pics too..but here are the ones I do have..

Haida: These Indians migrated from Canada to southeast Alaska in the early 1700s. Today, fewer than one thousand Haida live in Alaska, about two hundred of them on Hydaburg on Prince of Wales Island

Yesterday mom and I went to North Pole cause there were ice sculpures there..it was coooold (like -7!) and there weren't very many. Still those people are talented haha

Today we had a meeting with Nina and Mary (so I worked today instead of Monday) and we talked about what happened with that guy and Mary talked about getting a self-assertion class and possibly counceling together. She also talked about getting a driver's licence and learner's permit..oh my haha. Nina's gonna give me stuff to read about driving. :P Then we talked about the possiblity of taking a college class about glaciers in the summer or something and the class would take field trips to the glaciers and stuff!!

After the meeting mom and I went to Micheal's to get something for the White Elephant at the work Christmas party on Friday. It's right next to Bentley Hall Mall so we went in there to take a picture and of course I bought stuff haha. I bought a shirt with a sword on it at Journey's and at FYE I bought "Apocalyptica" by Apocalyptica, "Amplified: A Decade of Reinventing the Cello" by Apocalyptica, and "Age of Winters" by The Sword. Then we went to Micheal's and I saw one of my coworkers..well I wonder what she was doing ;)

Today's stupidest quote: actual call to a tech-support line
Tech support: How may I help you?
Customer: Yeah, my phone's locked and I can't get it unlocked
Tech: Well, what exactly happened?
Customer: I dunno, just suddenly the screen said Press Menu followed by #
Tech: So did you try that?
Customer: Try what?
Tech: Pressing Menu followed by #?
(pause)
Customer: OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! YOU FIXED MY CELL PHONE! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
