Temperatures in Fairbanks this morning reached near-record lows for the date.

According to the National Weather Service, the temperature of 22 below zero at 5 a.m. at Fairbanks International Airport marks the third coldest temperature recorded for Nov. 2.

Temperatures fell to 33 below on this date in 1907. Lows of 24 below were recorded Nov. 2 in both 1992 and 1975.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service is reporting lows of 25 below in North Pole and Manley Hot Springs, 27 below for Eagle and the Goldstream Valley, 24 below in Wiseman, 30 below in Circle and a whopping 40 degrees below zero in Chicken — marking the first time since 2008 that 40 below has been recorded this early in the season for the entire state.

This is also the earliest day in the season Fairbanks has reached 20 below since 1996, when temperatures fell that low on Oct. 25.

Expect similar cold temperatures tonight as skies remain mostly clear across the Interior. Also expect temperatures to remain chilly throughout the week until rising Friday, with highs are expected to reach the mid-20s above zero, with more snow in the forecast.

Wow..no wonder it was so cold in my apartment last night (the heat doesn't work well when it's that cold). Glad I don't live in Chicken LOL, brrr. It's supposed to be in the 20s again on Friday, which will be nice lol

I'm terrified, but still hopeful, of tomorrow (I hope my ballot made it through the mail alright!). Please let the right guy win, America :P

2. Have you ever considered moving because of an election result? )

I was trying to be creative haha. So glad today is almost over, I'm so tired of all the political ads in the mail and the radio and stuff. Democrat or Republican, I always worry I'm voting for the wrong person lol (I knew I was voting for Begich right away though, since he saved mom's retirement). I saw Nina at the polling station too, I hadn't seen her in ages!! Always fun to see her again :)

November 3-6 )

Today's trivia: Teddy Roosevelt was shot in an assassination attempt while delivering a speech in Milwaukee. "I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot," he told the stunned audience. "I give you my word, I do not care a rap about being shot; not a rap." He completed the 90-minute speech with the bullet still lodged in his chest

Usually I'm relieved when Election Day is here (I get tired of all the political ads and stuff), but I am actually genuinely scared right now. I can't believe Trump is actually winning so far. D: I proudly voted for Cherry LOL, I couldn't help myself. :P After voting I had time to kill before work so I went to this shop nearby that sells old books and spent waaay too much money on books about Robert Falcon Scott/Antarctica (good thing I was walking and had to go to work, otherwise I might have bought the whole shelf haha). One of the books had an introduction by Cherry!! ("*GASP*" *tries not to fall off ladder* LOL) I definitely couldn't pass THAT up..another was one of Ponting's photos, I couldn't pass that up either lol. I asked the guy who works there if he was familiar with The Worst Journey in the World (I'll buy any edition I can find that's not $3000 like the first edition of that book haha), and he was like "I think you got the title wrong, it sounds familiar though." LOL no, that is definitely the title of the book. Then he invited me to the basement..he said he has over 1000 books down there! Unfortunately (or fortunately? Heh) I had to go to work, but it would be cool to look at the books down there (he's invited me down there before..one of these days lol). Me and my coworkers were talking about Cherry today, and they said we'd be a great match for each other too..siiigh :P

Day 8-Handwrite whatever you want with a black pen in capitals )

Today's trivia: The longest continuous sidewalk in the world is along Bay Shore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida. It's 4.5 miles long, and 10 feet wide

24. One of your best friends and why they're awesome )

Today's trivia: Tardigrades can live in boiling water, solid ice, and the intense radiation of space. They can survive a decade in a desert, without a drop of water to drink, or in the deepest trenches of the sea

Today we started the volcanoes section of class. The professor's pretty cool..she seems funny and "hip" haha and cares for our learning a lot. She likes to show videos which is cool. Volcanoes are pretty awesome haha

Voted today..so relieving. It's stressful waiting for results though..like another LJ friend said, I'll just not really follow and go to bed and see who'll be president in the morning :P

74. Are You Challenging Me? )

Would you rather have to hang onto the top of a car going 100 mph for ten minutes or try to stay on the top of a hot air balloon in the sky for ten minutes? The car

Today's trivia: Most lava flows slowly, but Africa's Mount Nyiragongo is known for lava flowing at speeds of up to 60 mph

Voted today..so glad Election Day is here cause I was REALLY tired of hearing about it

I was walking up to my apartment door today and I heard a noise that sounded like a baby crying..it got louder and I realized it was Abby making a HORRIFIC yowling sound. It freaked me out..I thought she was dying or something. Luckily she's ok..I guess she just missed me :P

Day 02 - A book or series you wish more people were reading and talking about )

Would you rather have a third eye in the middle of your forehead or have three arms? Three arms

Today's trivia: Romans flavored food with garum, a paste made by leaving fish to rot for several weeks

Obama won! The excitement over him reminded me of the excitement over Kennedy. I voted for him too. This could be one of the great moments in history. Hopefully he'll help the country

Micheal Crichton is dead! *sobs* I read Timeline (and I have yet to read Jurassic Park and The Lost World) and he created ER. He was rather handsome too. http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/books/11/05/obit.crichton/index.html. Woww..

Today's stupidest quote:
Newlywed: Game host Bob Eubanks: What was the first thing you said to your husband on your wedding night?
Female contestant: Uh, gosh that's a hard one. Oh, wait, I don't mean THAT!

I'm gonna vote after mom comes home from work! This is the first presidential election I'm able to vote in :D

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

Today's stupidest quote: If you are here, please vote your machine. If you are not here, then don't (Louisiana State House Speaker John Alario, letting House members know that a rule to lock voting machines has just been involved)

Yay me

Yesterday I voted for the first time ever! (Not including school things) Alaska was having elections for senator and laws and stuff..there was this really annoying politician with really annoying commercials (VIC VICKERS WILL STOP THE CORRUPTION!!!!11 I approved and PAID for this message and I ask you to join me in this fight to TAKE BACK ALASKA *breaks TV*) and last I saw he only had 4% of the vote haha

I drempt I was in the finals for Olympic swimming. This guy I liked and wanted to win and some other guy was there. We first had to swim one or two laps then defeat a shark (which apparently was at my pool in Texas..it shifted around though). I first pulled out its hair..and we also tried to light it on fire but that didn't work. Then the guy got something that tore its skin off and it surrendered and the guy won! I was happy and hugged him and went inside to see if we could find the Olympics on TV..he had his arm around me for like 15 minutes haha
