Today Abby had her shots and bloodwork ("she's as healthy as a horse" :D), and when the assistant carried her to the other room to get blood, I expected her to yowl or something, but I heard nothing. A couple minutes later the assistant brought her back and said she meowed a couple times to say hi, but she didn't struggle or yowl or anything when they were getting her blood..I think the assistant was amazed haha. After that we went to Ryan and Jo's since they and mom had to call an insurance person..Abby hissed at Sid a couple times, went exploring, and settled herself down on a blanket like she lived there haha. She didn't care at ALL when Sid went to sniff her, and even went nose to nose! She hates other cats (for the third year in a row, the male calico we call Little Kitty has been visiting us..Abby was not happy when she saw him. :P He must have a place to live, he's so friendly!), but once she hisses a couple times, she tolerates dogs just fine. Weird haha. Here's a pic!

Gov. Mike Dunleavy outlined a plan Wednesday to continue reopening the state, noting in a meeting with reporters the importance of getting the state's economy back on its feet.

The first phase of the governor's plan, which went into effect less than two weeks ago, lifted an intrastate travel ban, condoned limited dine-in restaurant service and opened hair salons, nail shops and other personal service businesses.

Since April 24, the effective date for phase one, the state has seen 33 new cases of the disease.

The changes announced Wednesday allow social gatherings –– currently limited to 20 individuals –– of up to 50 people.

Additionally, businesses currently allowed to operate at 25% capacity, including hair salons, nail salons and other personal care services, will be allowed to bump up to 50% capacity. This will allow increased capacity for restaurants as well, Dunleavy noted, including the allowance of walk-ins.

Restaurants were previously limited to service of customers by reservation only to avoid clusters of people waiting for a table.

Bars, theaters, gyms and other entertainment facilities will be able to open to 25%, according to Health and Social Services Commissioner Adam Crum.

"If the numbers hold, we'll be moving quickly to the next step, which is going to really open up the economy," he added.

This second phase of the governor's plan to roll back health mandates and business limitations goes into effect Friday at 8 p.m.

Woohoo, being able to just walk into a restaurant and being able to go to the movies!!! Denise thinks the bookstore will open back up the week after next (good thing, I'm SO out of shape LOL), yay! It IS possible to mostly contain the disease, don't give up hope!

It's been in the 60s this week, and it's supposed to be 79 on Sunday! Crazy how fast the weather changes here!

Aww, the lady who did the livestreams at Nenana is leaving Alaska in a couple weeks (her husband got transferred to Washington). :( I'll miss those..glad her last one was so memorable!

Today is Paulette's last day at the Literacy Council..I've said goodbye to many people over the years working there, but hers was definitely the hardest. Donna, the person taking over for her, is nice and a good lady..it'll definitely be weird not having Paulette there though! Hopefully she'll come back and visit, and she said if we're in her area (Washington, for one) to visit her as well. She said I was a blessing to her, and I told her she was to me also..I've learned so much! Good luck, Paulette, you'll be missed! <3

FAIRBANKS—A Fairbanks man died early Friday morning after being shot at a downtown motel.

Fairbanks police responded to the Alaska Motor Inn at approximately 3 a.m. after getting a report of a weapons incident there. The caller reported hearing someone say a man had been shot, according to police spokeswoman Yumi McCulloch.

Police found Todd James Demoski, 25, inside a common area of the motel, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Demoski died shortly after he was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Next of kin have been notified.

That hotel is only a couple blocks away from me..I was wondering why there were so many police cars and caution tape down there. So sad!! Scary when murder happens so close to home D:

Mom was definitely happy to be home, even if she came back during a blizzard lol (it had been warm and sunny most of the time she was gone..a lot of the snow had melted already!). I'm sure she loved relaxing after being so busy lol

The Rhapsody Reunion is over, and they never came to the US. They were actually in England when I was there, but that was the day I went to Wheathampstead, and I wouldn't exchange that experience with anything in the world. Still, I am really sad I'll never get to see the original Rhapsody perform. :( Too bad I don't like Luca's new band (the singer annoys me for some reason), and only one person is left of the "original" Rhapsody members, so they'll never be the same to me. Too bad, their performances looked fun! Now to heal my broken heart..*sniff* lol

The new Simon's Cat might help ;)

"Mroweeeeee!" Haha awesome :P

Sad news to report from Talkeetna, Stubbs the cat has passed away.

According to a release from Nagley's store, the unofficial Mayor of Talkeetna, Stubbs the cat passed away in his sleep Thursday night.

The release states Stubbs was 20-years-old.

As Stubbs grew older his public appearances at the store became less frequent. "The last time Stubbs was in the store; he got to snuggle with the employees and relax after a good long days’ work," the release reports.

Stubbs served as the town’s unofficial mayor since 1997.

Awwww no, that's so sad!! Sounds like he lived a nice long life though, and I'm so glad I got to meet him! Now it'll feel like something is missing from Talkeetna :(

Today we went to Sedona! It was a beautiful sunny day, though chilly. Mom and Ryan went hiking and I looked around at the shops downtown and caught Pokemon since I didn't feel like hiking (I'm so lame LOL). Sedona is so beautiful..I'm glad I get to go more often now! (And speaking of Pokemon, my childhood self would have a fit if they saw me playing Pokemon Go LOL..on old school stuff I had written "Pokemon is stupid!" So much for never getting into it :P)

Today is our last day of vacation. :( (2017 is already going by too fast lol.) I'm excited to see Abby again and stuff, but I'll miss Arizona too..it's such a lovely state. It might be hard going back to winter lol. I hope I see some glaciers on the flight home!

Darkness Light Hate and Love quote_zpsdg9ld2pi

I do not like Trump, but I will not hate. I want to be a light in the darkness..I want to spread love and kindness. Even if I just help one person, it'll make a difference..love spreads and is stronger than hate. I cannot live with hate in my heart. I'm still worried, but all I can do is just..try to be a bright spot in the world. Like one of my Facebook friends said: "Love Trumps Hate one interaction at a time. Make someone else's day brighter, actively love those around you, and make the best of today." Exactly <3

Paulette's husband died early this morning. :( :( He had been sick the last few months..on Monday he went to Anchorage to get a pacemaker put in, but there must have been complications since he died. That is SO sad..I'm gonna miss saying hi to him on the phone (he called Paulette every day, it was adorable). He was so nice..wow :(

Fairbanks' acting Police Chief Brad Johnson announced that Sgt. Allen Brandt has died following complications from surgery in a brief, emotional press conference this afternoon [Friday].

"Fairbanks lost a hero today," Johnson said, with Fairbanks city Mayor Jim Matherly standing somberly next to him. "I'm sorry to have to let you know that earlier this afternoon, Sgt. Allen Brandt lost the fight. He had surgery yesterday and suffered complications afterward which continued to deteriorate throughout the day and from which he was unable to recover.

That's so sad!! He survived the shooting but died after surgery..wow :(

The Northern Lights were pretty awesome on Friday (I like to think they were in memory of the police officer). They started off dim but kept getting brighter. Around midnight they started dancing like crazy..it always amazes me how fast they can move! Beautiful <3

This is so sad: Two Fairbanks teens were killed Monday afternoon after their SUV hit another vehicle and went into the Delta River.

According to an Alaska State Trooper news release, Carmella Flynn, 17, was driving a 2003 GMC Yukon northbound near 210 Mile Richardson Highway when she lost control on a curve. The Yukon crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2011 Ford F-150 driven by Lucas Clooten, 37, of Fairbanks.

The Yukon overturned and was submerged in the river. Emergency responders pulled the SUV from the water and unsuccessfully attempted lifesaving measures on Flynn and her passenger, Theresa Runfola, 17, according to troopers

Carmella Flynn was the granddaughter of one of my coworkers. :( :( So sad!!

Mom told me that Snowy died this morning. :( He wasn't doing well at all when I left on Sunday, and mom said he just got worse after I left. He had gotten super skinny and feeble and looked so uncomfortable, so I figured his time was almost up. This morning dad put Snowy on a footstool and he died peacefully (hopefully, dad said he wasn't groaning or anything) soon after. He was such a sweet kitty and I'm so happy we had a great 20 years together. I still remember getting him at a soccer game as a kid..he was so cute! I'm sad that he's gone, but it was for the best..it was hard seeing him so uncomfortable. :( He'll always have a special place in my heart <3

June 18th, Boston's Restaurant and Sports Bar located on the Old Steese Highway will close its doors. Opening in its place around Labor Day will be a new Alaska themed family restaurant and Sports bar.

The "Banks Alehouse" will feature a non-smoking environment along with a new and expanded menu, 40 beer brands including locally and Alaskan made brews, and local sea food and game meat products. The new facility will have a complete outdoor Alaska appearance inside to enhance the rustic look

Ugh, why do my favorite restaurants up here always close?? Especially the ones everyone can agree upon? I'll definitely have to go there again before they close. The new place sounds interesting though..I'll have to try it out

Yesterday Cheetah jumped up behind the chair I was sitting in, which I thought was weird since she doesn't usually do that. I looked behind me and she was like squatting on something like she was peeing. I got her to move and I saw a little blood where she had been sitting. I told mom and she put her in the bathroom. She kept doing the squatting thing and leaving little spots of blood on the floor. Dad picked her up and we saw a little blood on her bottom area. I was really upset and wanted to take her to the emergency vet, but my parents said to wait and watch how she does. She was walking around and meowing and purring, she seemed uncomfortable but not really in pain, she was still eating and drinking..I checked her later in the night and it seemed the bleeding had stopped. She seems ok this morning too..there's no blood in the bed she's laying in. Mom's gonna take her to the vet tomorrow..maybe she has a urinary infection. I hope she'll be ok..I hate seeing animals with something wrong with them :(

Remove the shoes..I'd turn the power off ;) (I have always wanted to know why people did that with shoes though..)

Today was our last day in Switzerland. :( :( We went up another mountain in a gondola and went hiking through meadows and tamarack forests and cool scenery. Mom and I did the moderate hike this time. It didn't seem too bad at first, but then we hiked up this huge hill to a restaurant..owww. Soo tiring. Dave (the guy we went to the cathedral with) is ALWAYS in front way ahead no matter the terrain, if we're going up and down or have been walking for hours. That man is a MACHINE haha..the group nicknamed him "Mr. Speedy." :P It was nice to eat at the restaurant after that awful hill haha. After lunch we walked all the way back to the gondola and went down. When you got down you could hike up to this gorge if you wanted to. I didn't exactly want to since I was already tired and sore, but mom was going so I did too. It was uphill again..I didn't think I would make it, but I did. The gorge was pretty..lots of water rushing by haha. Then we walked back to the bus station (it was rather far from the hotel so we took the bus there). Most people decided to walk back but there was no way I was..my feet were KILLING me and I was just so tired. While waiting for the bus this cute kitty appeared and got up on a wooden railing thing by us! I pet it and it purred and looked happy! Awwww..I've so missed the sound of a purring cat. <3 It was so nice to relax at the hotel haha. I'm definitely sore :P

I'm so sad this is our last day in Switzerland. :( Besides getting sick, this vacation was AWESOME. I absolutely love Switzerland and must come back! The group we came with were so nice and caring..I'll miss them too. I hope to add some of them on Facebook! Tomorrow we take the train back to London and mom and I will spend a few more days at grandma's house before going home (Wisconsin seems like it was a long time ago by now :P)
