The Bjorn Saga

A year or two ago, a guy named Bjorn volunteered a couple times at the bookstore. I found out he was autistic and told him I was too (I also said I loved his name too haha). I honestly found him annoying and wondered if that was what I was like to other people haha. I saw him on the bus one day too and talked a lot. A long time went by and then kinda recently I saw him at the bookstore again. I said I remembered him and he seemed surprised for some reason. He also seemed different..more mature or something. I could tell he really liked talking to me each time he came in. The other day he asked me if maybe we could be in a relationship and maybe go out for Thai food. He keeps coming in and asking about me..I can tell he has a huge crush on me hehe. He said I'm refreshing and a delight and he really wants to hang out with me. I honestly think we should, even though I'm terrified of dating and stuff haha (I bet it was even scarier for him to ask me out though!). He said he didn't know how to build a relationship with girls either..and since we're both autistic we won't have to worry about being "normal" or whatever. First I should get to know him better though haha. He's 28, so there's not a huge age difference..

Hmm..I just added him on Facebook and I believe this status was about me: "I honestly hope I can get into a wonderful relationship (whatever that may be) with a certain young woman up here. I am honestly attracted to brilliant, compassionate & honest women. A lot of them I am good friends with. :) I just really hope this particular young woman cares as deeply for me as I do for her." D'awww. He also said the women he's attracted to have the same care ethic as Katniss. Awww. Well this is a new feeling for me haha. We'll have to see what happens..I hope it's something good though :D

I think that sounds soooo great and promising, and no matter what, definitely a good first step. I think going out with Bjorn on a date for Thai food sounds awesome! It's a good way to get to know each other better and more or less test the waters to see if you like each other as just friends, or more than friends - but right now, it does seem like you both are crushing a little bit on each other hehe.

If that status on FB was about you, that is sooo sweet (and honestly, I am sure that the status WAS about you haha). I like how he has genuine compliments for you that are deep and well-meaning.

Go for it! Being scared about relationships is an EVERYONE thing, regardless of whether or not there's any diagnosis attached. So feel free to ask your mom or any other folks you know who have relationship experience LOTS OF QUESTIONS. :)
