Today's class was super awesome..we talked about how water moves through a glacier and how that can cause some glaciers to surge. The professor talked about Black Rapids Glacier and how the people at the roadhouse reacted when they saw the glacier coming at them (surging glaciers can move 300 feet per day!). The ice was falling off and shaking the windows of the lodge. Woww. Black Rapids is due for a surge now. If that happens I'm totally camping out at the lodge for like a week haha. She also talked about the surge of Variegated Glacier (near Yakutat). SO awesome and interesting. Love this class :D
