1. How have you recently kept yourself in check? Ummm..I didn't buy red velvet cake at the store the other day, even though it looked delicious haha
2. What’s the closest thing to a castle you’ve been in? Windsor Castle, which was interesting
3. What were the circumstances the last time you were hoarse? I woke up and hadn't drank water or anything yet
4. What’s your favorite song by Queen? "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Under Pressure," etc
5. For what will you likely pay a king’s ransom in the near future? Well..a couple weeks ago I ordered a four-poster bed online from England, but I hadn't said anything yet because I was worried they wouldn't ship to Alaska and the supply chain issues and stuff (that happened to mom, and had to get her money refunded), but today they sent me a message saying it should be delivered between Dec. 2-6 (though it hasn't shipped yet), so I THINK it's ok to finally mention it! Here's what it looks like:

I looked at other ones, but kept coming back to this one (mine will be a different color, kind of reddish). Waiting has been tortuous and exciting at the same time haha, I want it so badly! I hope it fits in my room lol (oh, and to answer the question, the bed it expensive, so I'm paying it off in segments). I'm very amused the name of the company is "GetLaidBeds" haha!

Thanksgiving yesterday was fun! Most of Jo's core group of friends came over (Maeve, Logan, etc)..I was worried they'd be too loud because they're very outgoing, but they weren't too bad this time..being full probably moderated them haha. Abby wasted no time in demanding to be held and pet LOL. After we ate yummy food we walked on the frozen lake with Sid (I mentally claimed one of the islands for myself LOL). Logan was like "I can't believe I live in Alaska!!" (It's his first winter!) After everyone left mom and I watched Plains, Trains and Automobiles, the best Thanksgiving movie! An amusing end to a fun day lol

Wednesday was Donna's last day as the Administrative Assistant at work..she's also tired and wants to do other things, like painting and spending more time with her grandchildren. She said she still wants to volunteer in the bookstore though, which is cool..her book knowledge is huge! Adam, who replaced her, is younger and has more energy. Heidi used to work with him somewhere else, so she asked if he'd like to work at the Literacy Council, and he said yes. Hopefully he'll have fun and do well!

next journal entries: 7th or 8th grade english class! )

24. Do you have any family heirlooms? Mom gave me my great-grandma's watch a long time ago..I hope it's in Payson!

25. Are there any musicians you didn't like at first but grew on you? Sure, like Tyr

26. Is there anything you used to love but now dislike? Sure..I used to be obsessed with the Wheel of Time series, but now I'm just like "meh." Of course now it's a TV series..they should have made it while I was obsessed! Haha

1. Are you looking forward to Autumn (or Spring, if you are in the other hemisphere)? It's fall here already lol, the leaves are pretty!
2. What is one thing that marks this season for you more than anything else? The changing leaves, for one
3. If the months are indicative of your age, with January being your birth and December being the end of the line), what month are you in? Uhhhh..April?? I don't know LOL
4. Do you welcome the cooler/warmer days or mourn their loss? I'm always sad when summer is over, though the cooler nights are better for sleeping lol
5. What is absolutely one thing you have to do in the Autumn/Spring? Celebrate Thanksgiving?

Earlier in the week there was an earthquake..I had headphones on so I couldn't hear anything (besides music anyway :P), but my chair was shaking weirdly. Abby likes to rub against the chair sometimes, so I was confused when I didn't see her there. Soon after that mom called and said "did you feel the earthquake??" (Jo texted her and said it woke Sid up!) I was like "ahh, that's what that was" lol. Donna was pretty close to the epicenter (it was a 4.9), so her house got a huge jolt. Earthquakes are weird, but fascinating lol

I recently got WhatsApp, to video chat with mom when she's away, and I saw that Dana had one too, so I video chatted with her as well, and she got to meet Jo! Being on video is kinda weird, but it's nice to see faces too! We shall have to do it again!

Covid is going crazy in Alaska right now..there were 1,095 cases on Tuesday! I feel bad for everyone swamped at the hospital. D: The bookstore is doing great though, we regularly are doing $600 and $700 days! $300 used to be awesome, now we're just like "meh" haha. So cool!

There must be something to Mercury being in retrograde, because yesterday at Costco all the registers went down at once, and today Donna had a very hard time driving to work in the new snow, there were boxes left outside and almost all the books got ruined, she couldn't find a receipt, etc..crazy :P

I read my notes yesterday, which were lovely, and I got two gift cards to the smoothie place I like and a gift certificate to the bookstore..so nice! They know me so well :P

So another Biz Bee is done..our team got third place! (There were 19 teams, so that's awesome!) I was SO glad not to be spelling this year, way more relaxing lol. It kills me when people get words wrong or throw ones out like "paterfamilias" (well ok, maybe it's easy for me since I took Latin in school :P) and "petrel." Then there are words like "oyez" (pronounced "oh yay") that unless you've seen the word before, you'd never get right lol. One team got "lahar," which is a volcanic flood when the glaciers on the volcano melt when it erupts..I obviously loved that one haha. The winning words were "hobbledehoy" and "sinogram." I don't remember the name of the team that won, but it was their first time at the Biz Bee..how cool! The announcer was the same guy who hosts Dark Winter Nights! By the time we cleaned up and got everything back to work, it was after 11..I was like "I've never been at work at 11 PM!" haha. This was Donna's first time organizing the Bee..it was stressful, but she did great! She definitely needs rest this weekend though :P

Day 53. The song that you’re most proud of knowing all the words to )

Most of the customers at work are great, but we do have ones that like to give us a hard time for whatever reason. A guy came up to the register wanting me to combine his two punchcards onto one card and that I did it wrong last time?? So I took the card with more punches so I could combine his cards and he kept telling me no, I was doing it wrong and I kept trying to explain what I was trying to do (what he TOLD me to do!) and finally he was like "you're not getting it! Give me a brand new card!" Ok, whatever, I wasn't going to argue with him..Donna saw I was having trouble, and came over to help. He was looking at the CDs I gave him (we put the disks behind the counter, so people won't steal them), and kept making nasty comments like "last time you gave me the wrong disk!" (Donna was like "that doesn't sound like Heather!" lol) It has happened before, but none of the other people were rude about it! I try hard to not make mistakes, but I'm only human! Finally he was like "you better pay attention, or you might lose your job!" with a giant grin on his face. OMG..I was flustered before, but I was so angry after that comment. I actually said "umm, EXCUSE ME? That is NOT funny." Then he said to Donna "it looks like you haven't slept in two days!" WTF?? I had to go to the back and vent to Denise and cool off lol..when I came back Donna was like "after you left he made a comment about horrible customer service!" She knew he was trying to get a rise out of her, so she didn't say anything. I don't know what his problem is, but next time I'll try very hard not to react to what he says, since that's what he wants. I always appreciate the support of my coworkers (Mike was like "yeah right" when we told him about the losing my job comment..he was like "we'll fire him!" Haha). I'm glad most of our customers are nice lol

There's a customer that comes in with her service dog sometimes..she'll let you pet Willow (I think that's the dog's name lol) if you ask (she'll tell Willow "visit!" so she knows it's ok)..I don't always ask because of course the dog is working, but today she looked me right in the eyes and wagged her tail, and OMG I completely melted and couldn't resist asking to pet her lol. The look was of pure love as only a dog can give. Willow probably knows that look works well LOL. I pet her and she gave me some kisses..d'awww, I love animals so much <3

Donna has fit in well at work so far..Paulette was pretty strict and controlling, but Donna isn't at all, which is nice lol. I definitely miss Paulette's unique sense of humor though :P
