FAIRBANKS -- Remember last week's bone-chilling cold? We don't either. Temperatures topped 40 degrees above zero Wednesday for the second day, soaring to 47 degrees under sunny skies in Fairbanks.

That's just shy of the record high of 50, set in 1981. The normal high in Fairbanks is 26 and the normal low is minus 2.

Other warm spots as of 4 p.m. included 46 degrees in Denali Park and Fort Wainwright and 44 degrees at Eielson Air Force Base, according to the National Weather Service.

Warm temperatures are expected to continue through the weekend, with lows staying above zero. As an added bonus, days are continuing to lengthen. Sunrise Thursday is 8 a.m. and sunset is 8:02 p.m.

I thought the thermometer was broken when I read that temperature haha! It was very melty outside, but it was gorgeous again and felt so nice to not have to bundle up!
