Lucky 16

The Biz Bee last night was pretty fun. There was cake to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the bookstore! Our first word was "amicable." It bothered me so many teams got out on easyish words (easy I guess if you studied anyway) or threw words out we could have spelled (like "uitlander" and "muishond"). Eventually it was down to two teams, us and the Co-Op Market (their team name was "Two Bees and a Drone" haha). We were excited to be in the top two again! To win, you have to spell two words in a row correctly. We both battled it out for awhile..they gave us impossible words like "dasyure" (I spelled it "dassier" haha) and "carabinieri." Eventually we spelled a word right the Co-Op got wrong, which was "astilbe" (they were usually close with spelling a word right, so we learned from that). The next word was a Hawaiian word, lomilomi..knowing Hawaiian words have every syllable pronounced, it was pretty easy! So for the first time ever..THE LITERACY COUNCIL GOT FIRST PLACE!! Mike was SO happy haha..he gave all three of us a hug at once! I knew having 16 teams was a good omen, plus my teammates are awesome and smart haha. So awesome. :D The day after the Biz Bee is usually "slack off and talk about how awesome the Bee was" LOL. We all have "Biz Bee Hangovers" the next day haha. We all went to lunch today, which was nice. I'm glad we finally won :D
