Books read in October
Nov. 1st, 2014 10:43 amK2: Triumph and Tragedy by Jim Curran (Oct 1-7)
Blind Descent: Surviving Alone and Blind on Mount Everest by Brian Dickinson (Oct 8-16)
Cold: Adventures in the World's Frozen Places by Bill Streever (Oct 16-24)
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (Oct 24-30)
I read Frankenstein cause I read in Cold that it was written during the Little Ice Age and some of it took place in the North Pole. I had no idea, so I had to read it (we conveniently had a copy at the bookstore haha). It was quite depressing, but interesting. I really liked this passage: "I remembered the effect that the view of the tremendous and ever-moving glacier had produced upon my mind when I first saw it. It had then filled me with a sublime ecstasy, that gave wings to the soul, and allowed it to soar from the obscure world to light and joy." Exactly how I feel about glaciers :D
Geocaching with mom, etc
