"Like video tape, words written on dead trees are on their way out. Sure, there may be books -- but for those born today, stores that exist solely to sell them will be as numerous as record stores are now"

Ugh what? That better not happen..I would be SO sad. There's nothing like going in a bookstore and looking for them..the feel of them, the smell of them..it's one of the best feelings ever. Kindles and Nooks just..aren't the same at all. Why would you want to read a book on a screen? I want to believe books are immortal..they've survived hundreds of years already. They're too great to go away

Would you rather be at a baseball game and try to catch a fowl ball with a soup can or with your shirt sleeve? With a soup can

Today's trivia: Xerxes, King of Persia, became so angry at the sea when it destroyed his two bridges of boats during a storm, he had his army beat it with sticks

I agree with you. There's nothing like reading stories in actual books. There's something very comforting and relaxing about that...it's definitely not the same reading them on any kind of wireless device.

I wonder if beating the sea with sticks actually accomplished anything or just made him feel stupid haha. :P Though I guess he was probably not entirely in his right frame of mind if he ordered that!

I have an e-reader and I think they're only good for storage. I have hundreds of books lol, so its convenient in that sense. But I still buy paper books because it's just better I think.

I just can't make the switch. I love books, I like collecting them, I like seeing them on my shelves. It's nice to know that if the electricity goes out or my computer breaks down, they're still there, and unaffected. If technology fails, books will be there.

They're constant.

And there's just something about the weight, the smell, the whole experience of reading an actual book that is truly delightful.

I agree with you 100%! There's nothing better than holding a new book in your hands, smelling it,browsing through it and the actual feel of reading...it would be a tragedy if books just became obsolete :(
