This morning I was at work sorting the books and these people were talking and all of a sudden I hear "autism walk." I went over and I told her I was autistic and we talked and she said she had an autistic son. Then she said "we're having a news interview at Channel 13, would you like to be interviewed too?" and I was like "sure!" Wow..how crazy is that we both just happened to be back there at the same time? Mom picked me up and went to the place where the interview was. I talked about my autism, how it effects me, and you should accept people with autism..they're special people and if we "cure" them then they wouldn't be special. Also that you shouldn't be scared of it..I wouldn't have it any other way..I see things in a way other people don't and I don't wanna lose it. The news anchor who interviewed us said I was really touching and said I did a really good job. I thought it was hard to get everything out I was trying to say and said "like" too much..oh well. :P The anchor said if the interview doesn't get on today (I'm watching the news now and it may not) she'll come and tape me doing stuff at work and it'll air tomorrow. Woww. The lady with the autistic son invited me to go to the autism walk on Saturday so I'm gonna go to that. Wow..so crazy

Would you rather have to fish in a large pond until you catch something and be allowed to use only your bare hands or have to completely untangle a golf ball sized knot of thread? Untangle the thread

Today's trivia: The tentacles of the giant arctic jellyfish can grow to be 120 feet long

Aww that's so awesome that you were able to do that! It's so important to get messages like the one you had out to the public. So many people are ignorant about such things, which is what can make them scared. That sounds like such a cool experience!

I'd pick having to fish in a large pond until I catch something and be allowed to use only my bare hands.

That's awesome! I have a couple of autistic friends online and I agree, there's a unique perspective there that I really feel adds something to the world. ♥

Also, that jellyfish is kind of scary. I mean, I like jellyfish, but that particular species is pretty weird!

Be sure to get the internet link to the story so all of us can watch, too! :)

Now, I've always heard that many people with autism (such as Aspergers) don't necessarily understand sarcasm. You seem to grasp the concept of sarcasm just fine, as far as I can tell. So is this a trait in only some folks with autism?

Sorry if I sound really stupid. It's not something I know a whole lot about.

I definitely will if they post it!

When I was younger (like 5) I didn't understand jokes or sarcasm at all. I guess I just grew out of it. Being around my dad who always joked around probably helped too

There are also varying degrees of autism; not everyone has every "symptom."

That's pretty awesome that you decided to give an interview.
Like Joan already said, give us a link if/when they air it! ^_^

That's awesome that you were able to talk about autism on TV.
I agree to Dana,it's very important that people learn about it so they can understand it better.
