glacier_kittyWe recently got Mario Party 8 in the mail and we've started playing it..we've played a jungle board and a Monopoly like board (you can buy hotels!). I like the Monopoly like board better. It can be hard using the Wii remote on the games haha..especially the steering ones. Maybe I'll play Mario Party 3 next time I go back to Texas..I love that one haha
Fresh bear tracks have been reported in the Goldstream Valley area.
Renters who live off Jones Road spotted the tracks Thursday, according to their landlord, Fran Bundtzen. They told her one track was clearly made by a grizzly, with detailed pad and claw prints.
The Department of Fish and Game will send bear biologist Dick Shideler to investigate Saturday, biologist Tom Hollis said.
Hollis is skeptical of the report because there were no more sightings.
“Generally, when there’s a bear around, we usually get multiple reports,” he said.
Wintertime grizzly sightings are extremely rare, Fish and Game wildlife technician Brad Wendling said. If one is around, people should keep garbage and anything else that could attract the bear inside or sealed tightly, he said.
Typically, a bear is active at this time of year because it is old and could not find enough food to build up fat for hibernation, Hollis said. Bears who were disturbed during hibernation are less common.
If biologists determine a bear is roaming the area, Fish and Game’s response depends on the circumstances — especially how the bear is acting.
“A lot of times, they just go away,” Hollis said.
Otherwise, the department will try to haze it away, Hollis said. The bear would only be killed out of necessity.
Bundtzen’s husband, Tom, reported the sighting to biologist Mark Keech.
Today, Fran Bundtzen is carrying a rifle while doing outside chores, and she is frequently checking on her three horses.
The renters did not immediately take a photo of the paw print, and moose trampled it during the night, Bundtzen said. The renters could not be reached immediately.
The Bundtzens' property is about a mile north of Ivory Jack's Restaurant and Goldstream General Store.

Date: 2010-01-18 01:00 am (UTC)Wow bear tracks sound creepy but cool. Grizzlies definitely freak me out (yet also fascinate me...sort of like sharks haha) more than black bears.
I choose shaved eyebrows, because then maybe I can pencil them in.
