We had to let the pigeon go..none of the places Hannah called would take it cause it was "just a pigeon." It looked more alert than yesterday but I don't think it could fly. Poor thing..

Mom and I found a road by the airport that goes to the Tanana River. Cool! There were other trails that might have led to the Chena-Tanana confluence but it was cold and stuff so we didn't go this time

I love how out of all the roads in Fairbanks they choose the one right outside where I work to totally tear up so they can fix it. :P It makes the building shake haha

Just a pigeon? The hell? Sure, they are just a pigeon but they obviously needed a bit of help. *sigh* I fear I am going to be very down on Humanity by the time I am an old man. Assuming I live that long.

They should have named it the Wesley Willis Tower.

Yes, exactly. Unfortunately, all of these places have a serious limit to their resources, so they have to prioritise. But that does not excuse the fact that a bird needed acute care and they would not provide it.

That's AWFUL that places said that it was "just a pigeon". How would THEY feel if the hospitals were like, "Oh, it's just a person" and not give them the care they need? That's pretty horrendous. Ugh!

Speaking of shaking, I heard there was a 5.0 earthquake today by Anchorage.

On the plus side to all this: birds are wild animals, wild animals have a way of taking care of themselves. I'm sure it's a lot happier overall to be free and injured than to be copped up and pampered. I think the shelter you guys provided for it was all it needed :)
