Ya know what annoys me? In movies, when someone stabs someone and they pull the sword/dagger out of them, it makes the steel on steel sound. How is that possible? It isn't-they just add it for effect. Not all movies make that mistake, but when I was watching Hidalgo last night, it had that mistake. Errggg annoying.

On Nov 7th, there will be a show about Alexander the Great on the History Channel. I am definitely watching that.

Sure it wasn't scraping against someone's armour? That's where the steel-on-steel sound is supposed to come from, although it is true that it gets put in for no reason other than adding effect even when the person isn't wearing armour.

No-they don't have any armor on. In POTC, Will Turner draws his sword, and it makes the metallic sound, yet it's not in a sheath of any kind.

Well, that's just gay. The problem is that the directors of such films, who decide to add the sound effects, know nothing about steel. Unlike you...

Have ya seen "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer"? On IMDb, here's one of the goofs they put:

"When Willis pulls out his hook to kill someone, it makes the stereotypical sound of metal against metal. However, the hook would need to be sheathed to make such a sound; furthermore, a curved hook is unable to be sheathed to make such a sound."
