New house

So my parents are buying a new house in town..their current one is in such a nice area, but it's too much work for them now. Too much snow to shovel, too much grass to cut, hauling water, etc..dad can't be on his feet for too long because of the neuropathy in his feet. They just need less stuff to take care of. I went with them to the showing, and the house is really nice, except for being super close to the neighbors. It overlooks a lake, which they'll own a sliver of. There's a mother-in-law apartment downstairs, which Ryan and Jo are going to move in to. There are a lot of rooms in that house, we might get lost at first haha! There would be a little shoveling of the driveway in the winter, but nothing like here, and the yard is pretty small. No one likes the idea of being so close to the neighbors, but the house itself was too nice to pass up. It'll definitely be a lot of work moving and getting rid of things we don't need and stuff, but hopefully it'll be worth it..I'll probably have my own room for when I come over too! We'll all miss the nice, secluded area we're in though..and I imagine the cats will we weirded out at first haha. It'll be good for my parents to have less stress and things to worry about!

For the past three years this lady has been doing live streams at the river in Nenana when the ice is getting close to going out (in 2018 she was filming right as the tripod went over, she was SO excited haha). She was there for HOURS yesterday..the river was opening up..and suddenly, the tripod moved and tipped, and a HUGE amount of ice went rushing by. It was SO much fun to watch, probably one of the best times I've had since quarantine started..I love how animated and excited she gets! She said she could feel the vibrations on the bank! The tripod got stuck though, and the line that connects it to the clock was in the water, but none of the ice that came by was enough to snap the line (I loved hearing her say "are you KIDDING ME?!?" and her fun crazy laugh haha). There were over 1000 people watching ice melt with her haha! She was still streaming when I went to bed..this morning I woke up sure that the clock had stopped, but nope, it was still ticking, and the lady was filming again! She said she finally gave up at like 2:30 in the morning so she could sleep. Again pieces of ice snagged on the line, but it would just bounce back up..it was teasing everyone haha. Eventually I shut down on my laptop when nothing was happening and got ready to go to work, and when I got in the car like five minutes later and got the stream up on my phone, everything had COMPLETELY changed..there was SO much ice suddenly floating downriver! The lady and her daughter were cheering like crazy..I wish I could have seen it in person! That was enough to stop the clock, at 12:56! (There's usually a siren too, but for some reason it didn't go off this year.) My guess for today was at 11:02..darn. :P The tripod was still stuck in the ice, but when I checked the webcam after work, the river was clear of all the ice..crazy it happens so fast! The livestreams are SO much fun to watch and make the event even more exciting..I'm already looking forward to next year's LOL
