Biz Bee 2026

glacier_kittyYesterday was work's annual Biz Bee fundraiser. For the first time (since I've worked there, anyway), we had the Bee at a different location (Lucie said the hotel we usually have it at has new management, and wasn't organized or something, and the other place gave us a better deal). There were 12 teams this year..I was an usher and walked everyone to their table. Some of the early rounds had words like "gyroplane," "turnstile" (the team got that one wrong, spelling it "turnstyle") and "felonious." The Literacy Council lasted awhile, but got out on "carnifices" (public executioners, torturers, or butchers in ancient Rome). A later word was "hellebore," which I remember spelling when I was on the team in 2015! Eventually the words got so hard and crazy I basically gave up on trying to spell them haha, like "Drahthaar" (a type of dog). The spellers got words right I NEVER would gave guessed right, Danae and I were convinced they were geniuses. :P I'm not positive, but I *think* it was the "AHHkword Bees" who won on the word "syzygy," the alignment of three or more celestial bodies in a gravitational system. I'd seen that word before, but couldn't remember exactly how it was spelled. The audience spelling words were also space/moon themed, in honor of the recent space mission. The silent auction was desserts this year, and I got some fancy cupcakes haha. I also used the event to wear my grandma's curtain as a scarf LOL..that's dressing up for me :P (random, but I'm jealous at how well Danae can say "regularly," that one is so hard for me to say!)
It's been snowing today and we're supposed to get 2-4 inches tomorrow..it usually does snow some in April, but we've had enough already lol. I wish I didn't have the superpower of "getting a migraine when the weather changes," but at least Excedrin helps with that :P
Apparently Post Malone made a random appearance at a gas station near Fairbanks and now everyone's making AI/photoshopped pictures of him (like him drinking beer with a Sasquatch behind him). It's being talked about on TMZ haha..nice :P
