9th grade memories

glacier_kittyDad's in Payson right now, so I asked him to send me the journal I kept in 9th grade for English/Writing class..I love going back and reading things like that, and I was definitely entertained haha. I'm going to share some things I wrote here! A couple things to note:
I made a lot of spelling errors, but I feel like I have to keep them in for authenticity, even if it is painful haha
When I wrote "speech," I meant speech therapy, which I had to take in school for autism. As you'll see, I did NOT like my 9th grade speech therapist lol
I was obsessed with the Shannara series by Terry Brooks, and adopted the characters' form of cursing, "shades!" I VERY easily catch on to certain things people say and start saying them myself lol
We had topics to write about, but you had to keep writing even if finished with the topic (you could just have written "I'm bored I'm bored I'm bored," but you HAD to keep writing), so I always went off topic haha. Let's begin!
9-10-03: "I want to live in the Scottish Highlands when I'm older, and I'm going to build my own house, which will be 4 stories with 3 balconies and a courtyard!"
Oh MY haha, 32-year-old me wonders how expensive that would be LOL, and way too much to clean!! I would like to see the Scottish Highlands someday though..
9-17-03: "Things to make the world less irritating: the democrats would become Christians and stop dissagreeng on EVERYTHING, no [Universal Academy, the school I went to] band, my brother would stop trying to annoy me, if my computer wasn't slow, adults woudn't get annoyed so easily, people stopped talking while another was talking, people would like trees and not destroy the WHOLE rainforest, school would have less homework, Mono Lake's alkali flies would live here instead of horseflies, the Marriott and Courtyard Marriott hotels would be less expensive, when you left on a trip, you could make up all your homework & tests"
Haha wow, what a list. :P I almost fell over when I read the first thing listed..how things change haha (except for Democrats and Republicans not agreeing on anything, that'll never change :P)
9-26-03: I wrote a list of things I disliked, which included Pokemon, Rome and Greece, plazas and getting up early. Umm..plazas?! I was so weird LOL
10-1-03: "Heather's Personality!
She is very nice and sweet. She has Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism, but she still lives a normal life. She is brash and loves a good adventure or a new place. She is usually happy and always has a smile on her face. She can't stand to be mean or people being mean to her. She also LOVES to read, her favorites being the Shannara books by Terry Brooks, LOTR by Tolkien (though I can't understand it!), Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawles, and others. She taught herself to read when she was 3! So, I think Heather is a really great person!"
Aww! Still pretty true, except for saying I was brash..I literally only said that because my favorite character from the Shannara series (Morgan Leah) was described as brash..I don't think I even knew what it meant. :P I still have the copies of all the books I listed too! They're very well-read and falling apart haha (yeah, I remember reading street signs when little and mom was like "HOW?? I never taught her that!" Guess I was born to read lol)
10-3-03: "If I were stranded on a deserted island, I would take my mom, dad and Orlando Bloom. I would take my parents cause I love them and I would like them to be with me. I would want Orlando Bloom cause he's SO cute and nice and I want to see what he's like"
HAHAHA OMGG. *dies laughing* And I thought I wasn't a normal teenager! Hilarious :P
10-15-03: "I think a cute little kitten describes me best cause they are so sweet and so am I. I have a playful personality and I have a playful personality too. They also like to adventure and explore new things, and I love to go exploring and go to a new place! (Scottish Highlands) They also love to eat and have a big appetite and I do too"
Exploring, being playful, food..sounds good to me! Haha
10-20-03: "I went to California over the weekend! I watched the Two Towers 3 times! It was fun, and my brother was gone a whole day to an airshow with my dad and Jack and Carl. I got to visit with my grandma, and my aunt Susan came over and took me to her house for a while!...Susan has 4 cats!...Grandma even watched part of LOTR with me! When she saw the Orcs and Gollum she said "oh, what a beauty you are, honey." That was funny!"
Haha I remember that!! That's one of my favorite memories of grandma lol. Can you tell I didn't like Ryan at this point in my life? :P
10-28-03: "I would never want to be a politics person cause that's SO boring and that would be a WAY too big a responsibility. I also would never want to be ANY kind of doctor or dentist or orthodontist or proctolojist! *Yuck!* How can they stand to operate on people or stick their fingers in people's mouths and do all the *stuff* they do? I wouldn't last a day in those jobs! I just want to be a nice botanist living in the Scottish Highlands peacefully!"
Hahahaha..how did I even know what a proctologist was??
11-4-03: "I would NOT want to have a piercing or tatoo cause I think it's disgusting and wrong. And you would probably have problems later on"
OMG OMG..woooow. When I read this and the Democrat comment to mom, she was like "you've now gone to the other extreme! A Democrat with tattoos! I have failed you!" (She was kidding, of course :P)
11-17-03: "If I spent $300.00 on a trashcan commercial I would say that it would be robotic and pick up your trash around the house and take it out for you. It would also talk"
You mean like a Roomba?? NOOO SOMEONE STOLE MY IDEA!! *sobs* lol
11-18-03: "My mom says for our trip this summer we might go to London, rest of England, Scotland and...SWITZERLAND!! *hairrise* Why in the world would I want to go there?!"
OMGOMG..I gasped so loudly when I read that!! I'm glad I didn't go then, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it..my Switzerland trip in 2013 was AMAZING. <3 Such a pretty place!!
11-19-03: "I didn't have to go to speech today! Yay! I liked my old speech teacher at
McKamy [Middle School]. She rocked! In 8th grade we didn't really do any learning! We went out to the courtyard and played games, went on the Internet, and just talked! Her name was Mrs. Russel. And she DIDN'T treat me like a baby!"
I remember that, going to the courtyard and eating Chex Mix haha, and browsing IMDb. One time I tried opening the Chex Mix and it exploded and fell into her pen holder and stuff..it was really funny. :P My first session with UA's speech therapist, she asked me, "what's wrong with this sentence: first you put on your pants, then your underwear?" That made me angry and upset..did she think I was stupid or something?? I got defiant and put one leg under me, and she wouldn't let me leave until I put my leg back down. Yeah, I definitely could have handled that better lol. I was NOT in a good mood when I went back to class. She also reeked of cigarettes, and told me it was her perfume when I pointed it out..maybe she *tried* covering it, but it didn't work :P
12-9-03: "Me at age 30 - my job will be a botanist or arborist living in (surprise) the Scottish Highlands, and I will have a little Scottish accent! I can imagine myself just sitting outside in the Highland air feeling the breeze smelling of wildflowers and admiring the lush, green hills. And I'll get to be called Highlander and see the Loch Ness Monster (LOL, just kidding!)"
Ahhh, my Scotland dreams..that version of myself would be very disappointed now lol. It does sound nice the way I described it though!
12-10-13: "I'm not really in a good mood now cause of my STUPID SPEECH TEACHER! Shades, I can't stand her! She's like 'I pick on you cause you're a girl.' I'm thinking what the heck?! Now, I hate you more! Shades! I don't think I need to be in speech. She said I am because I'm having trouble defining words (yeah, right) and cause of my social skills and body language (shure whatever you say.) She said she's been a speech teacher for 27 years. *hairrise* We were talking about Sean Connery and she said he was cute and not Orlando Bloom! *hairrise*...I wish my old speech teacher (Mrs. Russel) would come over here! That would be cool! We probably wouldn't do anything! *winkgrin*"
OH MY GOODNESS I had forgotten she had said that to me!!! What speech therapist says something like that?? She was REALLY mean to me about my apparent "difficulty defining words" (what??). And then to prove it, she taught me "taciturn" and "contrite," and was like "SEE I'M RIGHT!" when I told her I'd never in my life heard either of those words. To this day, I can't stand either of those words (and I love learning new words! Just don't yell at me if I haven't heard of one!). She probably was right about the social skills, but how on earth had she been a speech therapist for 27 years if she treated people like that?? Just wow..
1-14-04: "When someone touches me all the time, like on my arms and head, that bugs me. And when someone stares at me or ignores me when I'm talking"
Yup, still hate that. :P There's one obnoxious customer who one time slapped my hand when I reached for his receipt or whatever it was, and OMG I just felt so weirded out (when someone touches me, it feels kinda like being shocked) and got some hand sanitizer to "wash it off" lol. I think people "ignore" me when talking because I have a quiet voice, and have trouble (especially when it's loud) getting my voice loud enough for people to hear (and when they do hear me, my brain dies and I'm just like "uhhh..*stuttering* I can't win LOL). It's annoying, but have learned to live with it by now..
2-27-04: "My speech teacher also thinks Viggo [Mortensen] is cute! Yay! Something we agree on!"
Well, I'm glad there was *something* about her that was nice :P
3-3-04: "Carousel animal? What on Middle-earth is a carousel?"
BAHAHAHA, I read that to mom and Jo and they died laughing..so nerdy of me LOL. And don't tell my speech therapist, she'd be like "SEE YOU DON'T KNOW WORDS!!!" lol
And last entry! I can't believe my teacher read this LOL
3-5-04: "Yay, free topic! Weee! I'm so happy and hyper! I think I've been thinking about Viggo Mortensen too much! *biggrin* I even hugged Mrs. Aistrup-er-Usinski (she got married). I was so happy! [The teacher underlined that and said "me too!"] Yummy Viggo...*sigh* *swoon* *drool* LOL!! HIDALGO CAME OUT TODAY!! I just remembered! I *have* to see it tonight! I hope it's good. I wonder how yummy Viggo will look. I'm supposed to be studying for a test...oh well. I bet if you just look in my eyes now you could see hearts in my eyes! Let's describe Viggo, shall we? Shades! Times up! Closing sentance...I LOVE VIGGO MORTENSEN!!"
Wooow LOL..my teacher did write "very interesting writing," so I guess she wasn't too scared of my teenagerness LOL
