I suuuurvived!!!
Sep. 2nd, 2005 04:45 pmI got all my wisdom teeth removed today. I didn't go to school *sob*...the appointment was at 10:30 but we had to wait awhile cause they were behind. I watched Luca before we left and listened to Rhapsody in the car...on the way I noticed gas was $3.06!! Holy cannoli. After waiting in the office I was called back and they took my blood pressure and stuff and explained everything. One of the nurses remarked I was very happy and everyone seemed happy from my good spirit. I said I was gonna dream of shiny Luca but I didn't dream of anything. Dangit. The surgeon asked if I had questions and I said no so he inserted the IV into a vein in my hand (didn't flinch or cringe or anything. Didn't hurt at all) and said it was too late to ask questions. I watched my blood go uphill and it was kinda creepy and then inserted the sedative. The last thing I remember is talking about Luca before waking up. I don't remember falling asleep at all
Next thing I remember is hearing voices and the surgeon saying "Heather?" My eyes opened a bit then closed. Then he poked me and my eyes opened more but closed again. The third time they stayed open. They all said I did a very good job and I smiled the best I could. I had gauze in my mouth so I couldn't talk (grrr!!) or close my mouth all the way. I got out of the chair and almost fell so the nurse had to walk me out. I also couldn't swallow right or feel my bottom lip or my chin (cause of the novacane) which felt very odd and squishy. I kept poking it and my mom was cracking up. Then I drooled blood which was SO gross...that went on for about 2 or 3 hours. YUCK! We drove home and listened to Rhapsody once more and my mom said no headbanging for awhile. NOOOOO!
My mom had to help me inside and got on the recliner chair where I still am. I was dead tired. My mom fed me some of a milkshake and it made the surgery spots hurt SO bad!!! Then I threw up. Not blood, thank goodness. That's one of my worst fears. Then I had to take medicine to help not make me sick, pain medicine, and antibiotics. Hard to do when you can't swallow right. That also made the surgery spots HURT like nothing else...even getting my toe caught on a mouce trap didn't hurt that bad. I was to the point of crying. I tried to sleep numerious times...my mom said I did but I don't think so cause I could hear everything. Then I took Motrin and I feel SO much better now. Now my cheeks are kinda swollen and have an ice pack on one cheek and am eating pudding. I feel a million times better now. And I feel better now that that is overwith...I NEVER wanna do that again. Now healing begins...glad it's a 3 day weekend!

Date: 2005-09-02 07:29 pm (UTC)But I grabbed my tounge while in the recovery arean and loudly asked "Ith thith my thung???" Because I couldn't tell if it was my tounge, or my bottom lip. And the poor nurse was way shorter than me, and I was like, leaning completely on her for support, and I was seeing double. "There's two of things! Two of you, two of that, two of that, two of her...Two of EVERYTHING!!!" The nurses were cracking up.
Man, the drugs were fabulous.
Owwie...
