The hurricane sucked the water out of the bay??! WOW. That is crazy!! I hope grandpa is ok..last I heard he was staying put because there was no gas left..wow D:

This weekend my brother and I played Mario Party 2 on Nintendo64..the game came out in 1999, 18 years ago, and the console itself is probably older than that..I'm amazed it still works! The old graphics we thought were high-tech back then are amusing LOL

It is SUCH a strange phenomenon. It has to do with which way the storm's wind is blowing and where the water is taken. I first heard about this in Hurricane Hugo in the 1980s. At that time we knew people who lived on Fripp Island, South Carolina, which is not far south of Charleston, SC, which is where Hugo ultimately hit. Our friends -- who lived on the ocean right on the tip of Fripp Island said that ALL the water was sucked out of the ocean, leaving a HUGE beach - mud flats, actually! The water which had been off Fripp Island was re-directed to Charleston, causing the flooding which happened to them.

Water receding like that and my mind jumps immediately to TSUNAMI! That's what happened with the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami and instead of getting to higher ground, no one knew what it meant...
