This morning I woke up feeling not that great..like I was getting a cold. Ugh! Though I was actually kinda surprised I hadn't got sick already with all the traveling I've done..for some reason I usually get sick in some way in Europe. Everyone on the train yesterday sounded like they had the plague..I felt so germy, ew. After breakfast we walked to the cathedral (we took the guy I thought had a stroke with us since he was traveling alone..he actually fell off something years ago). There were definitely lots of bells ringing haha. We couldn't really explore the inside since it was Sunday (it looked pretty from what I could see though), but we could walk up to the top! (You had to pay though..wtf?) Lots of stairs, ow. :P I liked looking at the gargoyles and decorations on the facade (I felt like the Hunchback of Notre Dame :P). It was actually pretty foggy when we got up there so we couldn't see much..boo! Of course the fog lifted when we got back down..fail haha. I bought some souvenirs and walked along the streets and river. Such a pretty city!! At 12:30 I think we all walked to the train station and boarded the first train of the day. After entering Switzerland (not sure when that was..I didn't see a sign) we got off that train and boarded another one. Suddenly everything was in German..that's even harder to decipher than French haha. The scenery gradually became more hilly and mountainous. Eventually snow capped mountains appeared! So pretty. I saw what looked to be the Eiger, but wasn't sure. Then a guy came over and was like "that's the Eiger!" Yay!! That's the mountain I most want to see..it has such an interesting climbing history. After riding on that train for awhile we got off and boarded ANOTHER one haha! Crazyy. We were definitely in the Alps now..so lovely. It wasn't too long till we got to Kandersteg, where we're staying for the next week. It seems like a cozy little town. After checking in at the hotel we met with one of the guides and she told us about the hikes we'd do (there's an easy and moderate one). One said we'd hike to a place that overlooks the North Face of the Eiger!! Mom and I of course opted for the moderate hike for tomorrow..we didn't come all the way to the Alps to do some baby hike. :P Surprisingly, the guy that has a very pronounced limp (he said he was born that way..like his legs and one arm didn't form right or something) said he was gonna go on the moderate hike too. He was like "if *I* can do it, you can too!" I hope he'll do ok! After the meeting we had dinner..it was soooo good..pumpkin soup, braised beef, mashed potatoes, flan..yumm. Then it was time to relax. You have to pay for the Internet here..ugh. I really hope my cold doesn't get any worse..hiking with a cold does not sound pleasant :/

This morning we took a taxi to St. Pancras in London, the train station our group was meeting at. It's a cool looking station (part of Harry Potter was filmed there!). We had breakfast, checked in with the tour guide, got some Euros (jeez..American money is so boring compared to Pounds and Euros haha) and hung around till it was time to board. Our group was seated in the same car..there's 30 something of us all together (we're the only Americans :P). Honestly, after seeing everyone, I was surprised. Some of them don't even look like they can hike..they're limping around, one guy looks like he had a stroke..basically all of them are old (I'm definitely the youngest in the group). Who knows, they might surprise me. We got to go through the Channel Tunnel! Cooool. After arriving in France we had to switch trains in Paris. We had to walk through the streets of Paris with all our luggage to another train station. Annoying, but cool, I got to see some of Paris haha (I went to Paris yeaars ago as a kid, but don't remember much of it). There were lots of restaurants/eateries along the way..IT SMELLED SO GOOD EVERYWHERE. Haha! We had an hour or two before the next train departed, so we had lunch and hung around. Eventually we boarded and headed for Strasbourg, 2 1/2 hours away I think (we're staying there for the night). All the little villages in the French countryside looked so cute! Way nicer than blah drab England. When we arrived in Strasbourg we walked across the street to our hotel, got our rooms, and then met again in the lobby and walked the 20 minutes to dinner (late dinner..it was after 8 PM!). Omg..I LOVE STRASBOURG! It's really, really nice and has a great atmosphere. I love the cobbled sidewalks/streets!! I like it WAAY better than London. And OMG IT HAS THE MOST EPIC CATHEDRAL EVER!!! When we were walking and turned the corner I was like "WHOAAAAAAA *gapes*" It's called Strasbourg Cathedral, and it is SERIOUSLY one of the most AWESOME churches I have ever seen!! (And I've seen kind of a lot of European churches!) It's 400 some feet tall..you just feel so small and insignificant staring up at it (like being at a glacier haha). We had dinner at a nice little restaurant (it kinda feels like when I went to Europe with People to People..having a planned menu and stuff). We heard the cathedral's bells too..AWESOME. I lovee church bells..they're so pretty!! After dinner we could do whatever we wanted (go back to the hotel and relax. :P Haha). Tomorrow we have free time in the morning before the train leaves and mom and I are totally gonna explore the cathedral. I bet there will be a lot of church bells ringing since it'll be Sunday! Then yay off to Switzerland!
