Amanda left today. At least I got to talk on the phone yesterday for awhile. I'll miss her.
King Arthur comes out July 7th! I dunno if we could see it then cause we'd be too busy packing. That's what happened when POTC came out. Last year, it came out July 9th, and I was so looking forward to seeing it, but then we went to Mammoth. But it was worth it. I got to see the oldest trees in the world-bristlecone pines. *The* oldest tree is Methusalah, which is about 4,700 years old. We didn't go on the right trail to see it (we probably couldn't see it or recognize it cause they keep it a secret so people won't chop it down or something), but we did see some old trees! And the lakes were *so* pretty. They were so blue and clear. We took a rowboat out on Lake Mamie while the guys went mountain biking. It was pretty. The most interesting lake was Mono Lake. It's saltwater. I tasted it, but it didn't taste that bad. It's so salty, in fact, that *nothing* can live in it. It's shrinking cause Los Angeles was taking water from it. (And why, when there's the ocean, and other lakes?) It left behind tufa towers-rock things from the minerals left behind. And there's the alkali flies-they fly away if you come near. (We need those in Texas.) And the brine shrimp.
Actually, brine shrimp are the only thing that can live in the water. Well, we didn't see any cause they're so small. Well, my brother took some water. Later, when we were in the car back to the airport (LONG drive), I noticed something in there. There were 2 brine shrimp in there! We decided to take them home. We didn't think they would live long. At the airport Ryan accidentaly drank the lake water. That was *hilarious!* Well, when we got home, we put the brine shrimp in a bigger container. Well, one died eventually, but the other gave birth and lived on. Well, that one died eventually and the other was left. That one lived a really long time. But it eventually died. Well, I can't wait to go back! It'll be fun.
