I finished 1984 today (way ahead of the class haha). It was a very good book but I didn't like the ending! It would be so scary to live in a world like that..

We've started translating Pygmalion in Latin. It's not as interesting as the other stories so far..

Friday five:
1. If you could, would you be a movie star or a rock star? Which one, and why? Rock star cause it's epic!!
2. Have you ever been in the media (TV, radio, papers)? I've been in the newspaper..
3. Do you know anyone who's been on a reality TV show? No
4. Have you ever met anyone famous? Is Frank DellaPenna famous?
5. Who would play you in a movie? Not sure

Today's Latin: bene legere saecla vincere (to read well is to master the ages)

"What do you see? Imaginary visions or reality? When you're free, then you'll see that you are bound to rule"--"Born To Rule," HammerFall

Nineteen Eighty-Four is one of those novels that people are still trying to misattribute the meaning of more than fifty years after it was published. The scary thing is that, date aside (and there is much to indicate that the central character had no idea what the date really was), the predictions of the novel have proven scarily accurate. Language modification has probably been the biggest factor in the divisions between various tiers of society since 1990 or thereabouts.

It has more in common with America since the 1980s, actually. They're not called "mass firings" anymore, it's "downsizing"!

You can tell I have a peculiar interest in the phonetic sounds of words, no?

Friday five:
1. If you could, would you be a movie star or a rock star? Which one, and why? A rock star, I'd like to have that edge to my life, hehe.
2. Have you ever been in the media (TV, radio, papers)? I've been on TV before. My 15 minutes of fame hahaha.
3. Do you know anyone who's been on a reality TV show? Nope. My friend Jill's soccer coach was on the first Survivor, though, haha.
4. Have you ever met anyone famous? Kinda sorta. I went to school with one of the guys in Midtown and I met Elizabeth Wurtzel as well as Kip and Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite.
5. Who would play you in a movie? I'd say Claire Danes...or myself, haha.
