Friday five
Sep. 22nd, 2023 05:06 pm1. If you were a girl in the 70’s in the U.S., you were expected to take Home Ec. in high school. Did you and what did you take from the class, if anything? If you are a guy, would you have liked to have had the option of taking it? I took Home Ec in middle school..I would hate it now, but I thought it was fun then. We cooked (we made manicotti, which smelled AMAZING), sewed (I wasn't very good, but I love my three-legged lizard anyway :P) and other various creative projects. I also loved that classroom because it had windows that overlooked the courtyard, which I was obsessed with (yeah, I have weird obsessions LOL)
2. How were your school lunches? They weren't too bad actually..I loved the fried okra (I didn't realize that was unusual until I moved out of Texas haha), pizza, popcorn chicken and spaghetti
3. Did you walk, take a bus, or have someone drive you to school? I did all three at some point
4. Were there any classes there were off limits to you because of your sex? Maybe some sports, but I wouldn't have done them anyway
5. Looking back on it now, what was the biggest life lesson you took from high school? I was very controlling back then (I remember my friend's anguished face when I kept telling her she wasn't paying enough attention to me :/), so don't control people..it doesn't end well
( sept 19-22 )
