A book that has inspired a common phrase or idiom: The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger (Aug 15-18)

A book you see someone reading on TV or in a movie: The Call of the Wild by Jack London (Aug 18-19). This..is a KIDS BOOK?!? I almost stopped reading it because of the animal abuse and the graphic images of the dogs fighting each other. Not what I expected at all..not even sure why it's a highly praised "classic"! Bleh. I finished the challenge though, yay!!

Under A Pole Star by Stef Penney (Aug 19-25). By far the most sexually explicit book I've ever read (whole chapters, even!). O_o At least the polar parts were interesting LOL

Island of the Blue Foxes: Disaster and Triumph on the World's Greatest Scientific Expedition by Stephen R. Bown (Aug 26-30). This told of Vitus Bering's expedition in Alaska, who Bering Glacier, Sea and a bunch of other places are named after. He is thought to be the first European to discover and land on Kayak Island, by the Gulf of Alaska..I saw that island when I took the ferry through the Inside Passage! That is so cool!! (Captain Cook went there too!) And scurvy sounds like an absolutely awful way to die. D: I wonder if any remnants of their shipwreck can be seen still..

The Northern Lights were out last night! I love seeing the night sky again and the spruce trees silhouetted against the sky after the light of summer <3

Day 242-243: The last song you’ve heard that you really liked )
