The Great LCA Flood of 2017
Oct. 10th, 2017 03:58 pmWhen I came to work this morning, I was not expecting to see this:
Water was coming up from both toilets and pouring down the hallway..I just stood there shocked! The hallway was pretty much a river. A bunch of stuff in Denise's office got ruined..me and a couple others tried getting as much as we could off the ground (there was like an inch of water in her office!), then were told not to go back there since it was a health hazard. My office is next to Denise's, and a foot or two from the bathrooms, but most of my office escaped the flood, probably because the building slopes downward, and there are cabinets at the back of my office too. There are a couple spots up front where the water is seeping up from the floor too (it's been pouring rain today). It took many hours, but Mike and a repair guy finally got the leaks to stop. A lot of stuff (boxes of books, shelves, etc) got ruined and will have to be replaced, and a lot of things have to be moved so the carpet can get cleaned or replaced. Wow. It was crazy how much water was coming out of the toilets! It'll be a lot of work, but we'll get through it..nothing keeps us LCA people down!
Today is also polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen's 156th birthday! I LOVE that Google did a doodle for it!!
I love they recognized a polar explorer, they're not normally recognized enough! They should do one for Cherry LOL
Today's trivia: Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, incorporated his initials into the drawing of Homer. M is his hair, and G is his ear
