Books read in January and Yukon Quest 2014
Feb. 1st, 2014 02:24 pmMixed Emotions: Mountaineering Writings of Greg Child by Greg Child (Jan 1-8)
Through the Eye of the Glacier by Michael Pollen (Jan 9-20. LOVED this book..especially since a lot of it took place at Black Rapids Glacier haha)
Blind Corners: Adventures on Seven Continents by Geoff Tabin (Jan 21-28)
Today, for the first time, I watched the start of the Yukon Quest! It's a sled dog race that goes from Fairbanks to Whitehorse, Canada (and vice versa..the starting place switches every other year). They had to switch the starting place from the river to 2nd Avenue since the river ice is thin since it's been so warm lately. It was cool! The dogs go absolutely crazy before they take off haha. It was around 14 out, so it wasn't even that cold! Nicee
