More Northway happenings
May. 17th, 2013 12:12 pmOn Wednesday the weather finally started getting nicer! It snowed the night before! Ugh. I saw some blue sky and finally saw the three mountain ranges you can see here: the Alaska Range, the Wrangells and the Nutzotins. It looks like they all blend together. More pilots landed too. One had to wait 40 minutes for customs (they have to stay in or by their plane till they come) so I took him some brownies and talked to him. He was so interesting! He and his dad built his tiny plane (I so wish I got a picture of it!) and he once flew from Key West to Barrow! Woww. He said he was gonna fly into the bush to meet up with friends by the Nizina Glacier and have fun adventures..jealous! Haha. We also learned why that guy got arrested..he was being held in Canada, released here and got arrested for warrents. Wow
Yesterday only one person landed here..in a helicopter! Cool haha. He didn't come in to talk to us though..that seems rude haha, even though they don't HAVE to come in (he missed brownies though :P). He was the first person not to. I think it's so cool when they talk to us and share their stories. A little Chinook came, so it got in the 50s..the wind still made it feel cold though
Today is our last full day in Northway. I am definitely ready to go home, though it is pretty cool seeing the planes land and talking to the pilots. It'll be amazing going on my own computer. :P The weather charts showed the weather to be bad, so I was surprised to wake up to it being sunny! It's coming though, we're just in a hole. The weather is CRAZY today..it's snowing in Fairbanks, it's supposed to snow here tomorrow (4-8 inches near Tok??!), some of the rivers are flooding..jeeeez. At this rate it's gonna snow on my birthday! It's supposed to get in the 60s next week..but how long is THAT gonna last before it snows again?? EPIC weather fail haha. I've caught up on movies here too..I've watched Kilauea Update 2006, Farther Than The Eye Can See, 127 Hours, Brave, Thor, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Life After People..wow haha. The guys that are relieving mom tomorrow are coming tonight. Today is looking to be a slow day..boo
