Feb. 3rd, 2013 11:55 amYesterday I was just going online with Greyboy in my lap when all of a sudden I heard this HUGE explosion in the distance. It startled both of us..I was definitely concerned. Earthquake entered my mind but it didn't shake the house. Later I went on Facebook and saw this..
FAIRBANKS - An explosion reported Saturday afternoon was centered in the Chena Ridge neighborhood, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The blast, which numerous witness accounts report say occurred about 4:30 p.m., originated on private property in the area of Heather Drive and Gateway Drive, trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said.
"There was most definitely some kind of explosion, but what caused it is still under investigation," she said
Troopers have not had reports of any injuries from the explosion, but there is extensive property damage to homes in the area surrounding the property including blown-out windows and things knocked off of walls, she said. One trooper said a house may have been shifted on its foundation.
!!! That is CRAZY. I read it was even heard in North Pole (more than 11 miles away)! What were they doing, setting off bombs?? Yikes D: (Off topic, but Heather Drive FTW! lol)
