Anatoli <3
Jan. 10th, 2012 04:11 pm"Mountains are cathedrals: grand and pure, the houses of my religion. I go to them as humans go to worship...From their lofty summits, I view my past, dream of the future, and with unusual acuity I am allowed to experience the present moment. My strength renewed, my vision cleared, in the mountains I celebrate creation. On each journey I am reborn."
-Anatoli Boukreev, one of my mountaineering heroes. <3 (See icon) He's amazing..he saved 3 people I think during the Everest disaster of 1996 when everyone else was too tired or delirious from lack of oxygen (and Anatoli never used bottled oxygen when he climbed!). He was an amazing strong climber..and a good writer as well. I read his diaries that were published and they were more like classic literature haha. He died in an avalanche in 1997 which I'm so sad about. :( Other of my favorite mountaineers have died but from natural causes when they were old (I'm getting very proud of my mountaineering collection haha). Anatoli is amazing <3
Wow..it's 19 degrees outside! The Chinook has returned haha. It won't last long though..they're saying an even colder cold front than the one we just had is gonna come and if it gets clear it could get to -50. O___O I think I'll stay inside for that..
( Day 193- A picture of a place you'd like to live )
Would you rather have a Texas accent and live in New York City or have a New York accent and live in Texas? Hm..the Texas accent
Today's trivia: The Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev composed an opera, The Giant, when he was only seven years old--using only the white keys
