Good thing the Internet wasn't working..
Oct. 29th, 2008 10:59 amYesterday mom told me electronics weren't working when she was at work and she thought there was something in the atmosphere messing them up. Later that night the Internet wasn't working..mom said again she thought there was something in the atmosphere and I went to look outside..I saw a faint white streak in the sky and got mom and went outside again. It got bright green and there were the Northern Lights! Guess mom was right haha. We drove to where the dirt road ended and went onto the main road..we could see them well from there. They weren't really disappearing like when we watched with dad. This had to be the biggest viewing I've seen so far! At times they looked like a glacier haha. We eventually went into the valley (brrr -11 :P) and for a little bit part of it got excited and turned pinkish and danced excitedly. Eventually they mostly went away (though there were other ones on the horizon) and we went home. The Internet was working again haha. Here's a picture someone took 20 miles northeast of Fairbanks: http://www.spaceweather.com/aurora/images2008/28oct08/Lance-Parrish1_strip.jpg

Today's stupidest quote:
Tourist at the duty-free store in Windsor, Ontario: How far is it to Toronto from here?
Store clerk: About four hours
Tourist: Is that in US or Canadian hours?
