More cool shiny Italian stuff
Aug. 19th, 2005 04:33 pmWords in Italian that relate to music: libretto, maestro, mandolin, piano, soprano, and tempo. Food: broccoli, cappuccino, espresso, minestrone, and salami. Military terms adapted from Italian: battalion, cavalry, and colonel. Italian words used in English with the same spelling: fiasco, fresco, ghetto, incognito, motto, solo, studio, and trio. Words like balcony, cartoon, sonnet, and zany are originated from 16th century Italian. Others are arcade, regatta, umbrella, and vendetta. I find that really cool and interesting (yay Luca's voice just came on!). SHINY ZANY ITALY, YAY!
This weekend I may go out to eat and see either Weather Man or The Great Raid. I head TGR was really good...epic war movie, yay!
