This pic is cool! They are Charlotte Shaw (GBS's wife), Pussy Russell Cooke (not sure who she is..), Cherry crouching in the back, Peter Scott, Kathleen Scott (Robert F. Scott's wife and son), and George Bernard Shaw. I love how posh Cherry looks LOL
Assistant zoologist on the Terra Nova. That doesn't even look like him! I'll never get over how different he looks in various pics of him..
Ohh my, this person's book review:
Tough to scold the author on this since her depiction of 'Cherry' was probably accurate....which raised the question, Is a book about this spoiled relic of the age of the upper class worth it? Here is a chap who "bought" his way aboard Scott's expedition through a sponsorship, probably screwed up resulting in Scott's death, and then spend the rest of his life in a self-absorbed, bored, sometimes depressed state, with concerns about the end of "separation of the classes". Oh by the way, I have a feeling G.B. Shaw wrote more of Cherry's book than the author of his bio lets on. But seriously, what did this fop do after the "worst journey" that was worthy of anything? Not much...which makes me question why we should care about this chap? Bottom line, the author is a fine writer, but her subject is about as interesting as a television test pattern.

He didn't buy his way through a sponsorship, he used his own money, and he gave it to Scott anyway when he was rejected the first time, and Scott was so impressed by that he accepted Cherry, even with his bad eyesight. Cherry probably would have died if he had tried to go through the blizzard to try and rescue Scott and his men. HE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SCOTT'S DEATH. OMG. What did he do that was worthy of anything?? He turned his house into a convalescent house during World War I, and he helped members of Scott's expedition pay for medical things and stuff. He didn't have to do grand things to be "worthy of something," small things mean a lot too! He was incredibly kind and caring, even if he was grumpy when he was older. Giving Angela a rock to show his love for her says everything to me. I'm sure George Bernard Shaw was a huge help in writing his book, but so what? When you're reading the book, you can tell what a beautiful, sensitive soul he was..Shaw helped him, but the book is still Cherry's words. Here is one such beautiful paragraph:
