The used bookstore we went to. You could spend a lot of time there haha

Mauna Loa I think. You can see an old lava flow coming down the mountain. On the right you can see people's houses on the volcano. Really??

The nice white sand beach we went to

Cinder cone, or pu'u (Hill) in Hawaiian

More of them

Ascending Mauna Kea

Lots of cinder cones up there

Heh

A Hawaiian terminal moraine. :D Haha

There are a bunch of telescopes up there

I spy Mauna Loa. It's slightly lower, at 13,678 feet, though it has more mass

This hill is sacred to the Hawaiians..they really rather you not go up there, but they can't prevent you from doing it. There are a bunch of people at the top in this pic..guess they didn't get the memo :P

It was freeezing up there

Weird..

The view from a restaurant we ate at

The Pololu Valley overlook

Rough trail

Lots of volcanic rocks

Big waves..a bit scary to see them coming right at you even though the rocks were kinda a barrier

Black sand..formed by lava flowing into the ocean which explodes as it reaches the ocean and cools

Cool..if I tried to do that it would fall over :P

There was a perpetual mist from the constant waves

Ryan made this his cover photo thing on Facebook haha

Such interesting fun things you find in the forest haha

OH MY

SO PRETTY

Bye bye Hawaii :(
