It's around 43 degrees outside! It's around 38 in town. Practically all the snow has melted from the railing of the deck. It got this warm cause of a chinook, which is a really strong warm wind from the ocean. The last time we had one was in October. It is windy right now but the Alaska Range is blocking a lot of it (there was 80 to 100 mile an hour winds in Anchorage!). It was also 40 something when I went skiing yesterday..the snow was sooo slick! Going up hills was horrible

Edit: Whoa!! Now it's 47 in town!! Haha wowww

Friday five:

This it at Mono Lake..the grey things are called tufa and were formed from the chemicals in the lake. It's a saltwater lake so salty only brine shrimp live in it. For some reason Ryan took some water from the lake and later we found brine shrimp in the bottle! There were two and they mated and that one lasted quite awhile..

Baleen: Nature's strainers, used by certain whales to filter krill and the other little critters out of seawater. Baleen whales include the gray, blue, bowhead, fin, humpback, right, minke and sei whales. The fringed, bony, black, baleen planes are used by coastal Natives to make handicrafts (Pioneer Park has one hanging in the dining area)
