The Chinook is a-blowin'
Oct. 25th, 2017 03:59 pmFAIRBANKS - A strong storm moving into Interior Alaska could bring freezing rain to the Parks and Elliott highways on Wednesday. Winter weather advisories for snow, freezing rain and high winds are in effect for the Alaska Range.
Freezing rain may coat the Parks Highway south of Nenana, and the Elliott Highway from Livengood west, according to the National Weather Service. A layer of ice forming in those areas could make travel treacherous. A layer of wet snow could also freeze to the road surface and accumulate.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for Alaska Range passes, with high winds and 2 to 4 inches of snow accompanying freezing rain, resulting in limited visibility and difficult driving conditions. South winds could gust to 70 mph. The advisory is in effect from noon Wednesday to noon Thursday.
There is a slight chance freezing rain could fall from Fairbanks to the east Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.
Ewww..Chinooks are nice, but freezing rain is not. I hope it doesn't get too bad..
I don't usually talk about politics, but OMG: President Trump was so determined to reverse his predecessor’s legacy that he asked Alaska’s two senators if he should change the name of the US’s largest mountain back to Mt. McKinley from the Native American name it had been called for 10,000 years. "President Obama wants to change the name of Mt. McKinley to Denali after more than 100 years," Trump tweeted. "Great insult to Ohio. I will change back!"
OMG he can't be serious..how is this guy still our president?? Our senators about jumped over their desks and were like "NOPE" when they met with him. Ugh, wow :/

Today's trivia: When the Spanish warships invading Amsterdam in the winter of 1571-72 became frozen in the harbor, the Dutch Army used skates with metal blades to easily outmaneuver and defeat them
