Alaskan thunderstorms
Jun. 27th, 2016 04:08 pmSo the weather yesterday was crazy..I have rarely seen that many storm clouds in one place before! We even had a severe thunderstorm warning, which I'd never seen here before! (I asked mom how they classify it as severe, and I was somehow surprised when she knew, even though she used to work for the National Weather Service haha. The NWS site says "the National Weather Service considers a thunderstorm severe if it produces hail at least one inch in diameter, winds of 58 mph or stronger, or a tornado." Pretty much what mom said lol.) It was so cool to watch the storm and crazy lightning..I read that over 18,000 lightning strikes were recorded this weekend! Wow. Too bad it started some forest fires, but with that many lightning strikes, I guess it's kinda expected. It kinda felt like I was back in Texas again!
