The wonders of nature baby!
Jul. 4th, 2010 10:34 amYesterday was the most AWESOME ALASKAN THUNDERSTORM EVER!! Mom and I decided to go into town to get some ice cream and as we were walking to the garage we could see very dark clouds in the distance. When we got on the main road we could see it was huge and definitely dark (it made a cool contrast with the hills too). We went up to the university and could see it spread out over the valley. I saw some sweet cloud to ground lightning too! (Hopefully it didn't start a fire!) I thought it was moving away from us but then I saw it raining at the airport..then it started raining where we were. It was POURING as we drove back down the hill. We got to Hot Licks..luckily there was a tent thing so we could stay dry (not me..I was pretty wet haha) while we ate. It was just pouring and there was lots of lightning and thunder. I'd never seen it storm like that here before haha. The road got flooded too so as cars drove by they made huge splashes..it was SO MUCH FUN watching the cars do that haha. We went to Fred Meyer (which is being renovated..it's so weird!) and after we came out it was STILL storming..I think it had moved to the Murphy Dome area. I saw more cloud to ground lightning! That so made my day. :D I got pics but I don't have my camera cord with me so I'll post them tomorrow
