Sickness and 2024 survey

glacier_kittyOn Friday night, mom ended up coming down with the stomach flu (I could tell she wasn't feeling well when she picked me up). At one point I heard a giant CRASH, and rushed upstairs to make sure she was ok. She didn't answer when I first knocked, so I was freaking out and was like "MOM?!? ARE YOU OK?!" Eventually I heard a very weak "..no." I'd never heard her sound like that before! She also said that she had fainted, and I was like "do you need to go to the hospital?? Can I do anything for you??" She said no, and I felt sad there was nothing to be done except wait it out. She ended up passing out twice more! Yesterday when she came downstairs she said that was pretty much the worst night of her life. :( I left food at her door Ryan had gotten for her, and a note that said "feel better! amo te!" ("I love you" in Latin.) I love leaving notes for people lol, it's fun!
I felt anxious all day yesterday, worrying I'd be next..sure enough, I came down with it very early this morning, and just sat in the bathroom for hours. SO much fun. D: Eventually I knocked on mom's door, and she guessed I was sick too. She's feeling better, but not 100%, but this time it was her turn to take care of me haha and got me some turmeric ginger tea and 7Up, which helps with upset stomachs (didn't know that!). I don't like carbonation, but I hate an upset stomach even more. I've been taking sips of it throughout the day. I was also FREEZING, shivering like crazy! Mom took my temperature and it was 94!!! That is actually hypothermic!! She got me an electric blanket, which helped a lot..soft, warm and cozy!! I'm definitely not going to work tomorrow, because I'll still be contagious for a few days and it takes awhile to recover. I got tired of laying in bed thinking about being nauseous, so I decided to update here, which is a nice distraction lol
1. What did you do in 2024 that you'd never done before? Karaoke (fun! Wine is needed though LOL), those games at work, etc
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? They're always to read more books, which is really the only resolution I can keep :P
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Not super close, someone I used to work with
4. Did anyone close to you die? Yeah, my grandma :(
5. What countries did you visit? Just the USA
6. What would you like to have in 2025 that you lacked in 2024? *shrugs*
7. What date from 2024 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Oct 18, when grandma passed away, and Oct 25, her funeral
Sept 21, when mom and I went on a super awesome glacier cruise and got close to the face of Harvard Glacier!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Visiting grandma before she died, karaoke, the glacier cruise, doing well at work, and I think I'm going to reach 100 books read this year!!! Goodreads already wants to show me my books of the year but I'm like..there are 9 days left of the year, I can still get books read in that time! Haha
9. What was your biggest failure? That verbal fight with Denise wasn't great, but at least things are fine now
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I had pneumonia (felt like I was dying D:), covid, and now the stomach flu. I usually have bruises on me somewhere because I run into everything haha, and Abby likes to walk on me in bed, so I get cat scratches on my arms too :P
11. What was the best thing you bought? The glacier cruise, fancy curtains, books, etc
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? People who are nice, do good deeds, etc
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Politicians, school shooters, etc
14. Where did most of your money go? Bills, books, trips to Kansas, etc
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The glacier cruise, buying perfect Christmas gifts, new hidden cat games haha, etc

I. Happier? Not at this exact moment, and the winter darkness has been harder this year, but I'm alright

23. What was your favorite TV program? C.B. Strike, and I finally started watching All the Light We Cannot See (I loved the book). I love that both actresses who play the main character are blind in real life! More disability representation, please!! We're talented too! (Same with Marissa Bode, who played Nessarose in Wicked..she's in a wheelchair in real life!)
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Meh, hate is exhausting
25. What was the best book you read? Legends & Lattes, The Fault in Our Stars, The Mystery Guest, etc
