1. What happened to you in 2017 that made you the happiest? Going to Glacier Bay, finding a 1951 copy of The Worst Journey in the World, etc
2. What are your plans for New Year's Eve/New Year's Day? I'll be at my parents' house..there are going to be fireworks, but it might be too cold to stand around and watch them lol (it was -19 this morning!)
3. What was the best discovery you made in 2017? The yummy newish Indian restaurant, etc
4. What are your thoughts on the idea of "new year/new you?" Suree, starting fresh is nice lol
5. What are you most looking forward to in 2018? I hope some fun trips, and whatever other fun things the year brings lol
What's the best book you read this year? To the Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley, etc
What's the worst book you read this year? The Shameless Diary of An Explorer by Robert Dunn. Awful ant-Semitic animal abuser D:
Your favourite "classic" you read this year: Arctic Explorations by Elisha Kent Kane, etc
The book that disappointed you: Mr. Popper's Penguins, for one..it was really dumb and unrealistic
The hardest book you read this year (topic or writing style): The Shameless Diary of an Explorer, A Man Called Ove, etc
The funniest book you read this year: Avalanche by Patrick F. McManus, etc
The saddest book you read this year: A Man Called Ove was pretty sad..
A book that touched you: The Family Tree by Cynthia Rinear Bethune (Becky's sister wrote this book!)
A(nother) book you read this year you want to recommend (maybe one that you haven't mentioned yet?): Edward Wilson of the Antarctic by George Seaver. Wilson was an amazing person <3
A book that you discovered this year that you will definitely read again: Not sure..I don't reread books a lot, especially since I have so many on my "to read" shelf (unless it's The Worst Journey haha)
A book that you never want to read again: The Shameless Diary of an Explorer
Were you part of a reading challenge? Did you meet it? I challenged myself to read 45 books, but changed it to 64 when I far surpassed that..I'm on my 67th right now!
Which authors featured most prominently for you in 2017? Alan Bradley
The book series you read the most volumes of this year: The Flavia de Luce mysteries
The last book you finished this year: The Cruise of the Corwin by John Muir right now, but I'm trying to squeeze in another book right now lol
The first book you will finish in the new year: I was thinking the book about Leffingwell, but I might change my mind before then :P
The genre you read the most this year: Polar exploration lol
Which books are you most looking forward to reading in 2018? The Leffingwell one, etc
And finally, make a New Year's Resolution: How many books do you think you will read in the new year?: I'm sure I can easily get 45, but I always ignore the "longer books" that have been on my shelf for ages when I set a number for myself, so I won't post one yet lol
